Contras: "Lufthansa switched us three times , and then when we got to the airport in toronto it was air Canada. They found our grandparents tickets but not ours. Ridicule our flight was supposed to be only 1h layover, inatead it’s 6 and we are going to miss all our next travel accommodations."

My flight from Chicago to Frankfurt was on a very large plane so I have no complaints, but, the plane chosen from Frankfurt to Tel Aviv was much smaller, and packed to the gills, with passengers, and luggage, and crew. The crew themselves remarked that the type of plane used for this flight was inappropriate."
Contras: "between lunch and supper snack one isle had only one water serving and my isle had none. So for 6 hours we had no water serving. This is why I gave crew rating OK only. Also the supper pizza snack was horrible. By comparison, United gives full drink cans so they last longer. I suggest Lufthansa also should serve full drink cans in long flights."

And the staff was extremely organized and transported our luggage so that it made it to the final destination with us. All this happened in under 30 minutes. Great service"
Prós: "the gate crew didn't care if there was chaos. no interaction with waiting passengers beyond those that queued up with direct questions. i'd liken the experience to herding cattle. customer service skills haven't been taught to these folks yet. if i were basing my lufthansa experience on this alone, i'd go out of my way to fly another airline next time. on the other hand, the people staffing the flight were extremely kind, professional, pleasant, personable. a much improved experience. so much so that i mentioned it to a few people once i got home. this crew has received more training on how to provide excellent service than the gate folks in frankfurt."

But on the day of flight, Air Canada refused their boarding, stating that they did not have Canada visas, the fight would transfer in Montreal which needs Canada visa. I had never heard about it and it was never mentioned when I booking the tickets. I called the first customer service who was rude and not helpful. Finally, I found out that my parents had to transfer to Toronto, which does not need a visa. But in order to make the change, I had to pay Air Canada extra $1180, which were more expensive than the tickets self. At that time, I had no other choice. I am really upset. I want to warm all Chinese who don't have green card or Canada visa that do not buy tickets from Air Canada. Their customer service told me that they did not have the obligation to list this kind of information on their website. So if you choose Air Canada, you lose your money and deal with all the hassles by yourself. I will never use Air Canada in my whole life again."

It's a less than adequate experience even for a officially second tier airline. Why does Canada put out an embarrassing product like this airline ? Shame on them !"

At the check in counter, the representative explained to me that Canada is "trans border" and not "international," so they don't offer a free checked bag. However, I was still required to present my passport and go through customs, and I'm pretty sure I came out of the plane in a different country than I started in, so I conclude that they are splitting hairs to cheat customers out of a standard service."

The lack of more recline (as in the recarro sears used on the LH/LX products) and short pitch make it hard to either work or sleep. The small plane size makes this sardine feeling worse and slows service to the rear of be craft."

Crew member let us know that united was aware of our delay ed take of 4:05 rather than 1:00pm several hours before yet, We were only informed through notifications in increments of 30 minutes. be transparent with your customers, the delay would have been much less frustrating had we known. Instead notifications every 30mins were teasing us that we're about to leave but it's clear united had not intention of taking off. Also crew member on board serving beverages "I need your money" is an extremely unprofessional and inappropriate way to ask for a card."

After landing, a very high pitch squeal started and lasted 5 minutes after engine shut-down. Finally, there was a very loud "sawing noise" coming from under the aircraft after parking in the terminal that others commented about the loud sawing noise. Canadair aircraft was much nicer and quieter that was used from SFO to Santa Ana."
Prós: "Being a red eye, they were too busy congregating among themselves and chatting away.. when requested for a beverage, the service was as though they were doing a big favor and the guests on-board were disturbing them..!!"

No help getting a bag check refund even though I paid for it a day early. Come to find out that the gate staff was courtesy checking everyone's bags anyway, and they took it with a smile. Those fools at the front were content to take my money and tell me to somehow mail my luggage to my destination (not possible since the flight was boarding in 35 minutes). There needs to be communication with the check in staff regarding courtesy check ins."

Contras: "My flight cancelled. I waited 3hours in the flight. They said they provide the bus instead of flight. Now, I waiting 2 hours for they provide bus."

Contras: "Check-in was a zoo. The agents were more interested in gossiping and were constantly on the phone or running in and out of their stations. It took nearly an hour to get through the 10 people ahead of us. And then we were told that my 1 bag would cost $53 to check-in and that I would have to go to another counter in a far away part of the airport to pay...and we had 20 minutes before boarding. Afger running to the cashier, we were told that she had no time and that we should go back to the agent to pay! We ran back and paid, then went to look for our gate. It was finally listed as Gate 12. We got though security ok and got into the line for Gate 12. It was more like a scrum tan a line. Nobod seemed to be doing anything when all at once we saw people boarding. We went to the gate but were told that our flight was boarding at Gate 10!!! WTF??? Gate 12 listed our flight number and Gate 10 listed another flight, but we did as were told and boarded via Gate 10. None of other passengers knew what the hell was going on but we all made it to Rome along with our baggage. We will NEVER fly Alitalia again."
Prós: "Decent flight. On time departing and arriving. Luggage arrived with us."
Contras: "Audacious prices for checked luggage. If you pay online prior to check-in €25 per bag If you pay at check in it is €45 per bag. This is downright theft by all the airlines who engage in this very profitable but nefarious activity and really needs to be stopped. First bag should be free/ nominal charge or at least part of the ticket price. (It is like a restaurant charging for cutlery and plates so you can eat . Would that be acceptable??)"
Prós: "Boarding was on time for all my flights."
Contras: "KLM switched online check in to Alitalia literally right at checking time. It was extremely unnerving, and required much more time, as I did not have an Alitalia account."

Contras: "Check in was chaos. A different Alitalia flight had been cancelled so there were mobs at the check in at 4 a.m. waiting for the Alitalia personnel to appear--AirBerlin was open and staffed, but Alitalia was at least 1/2 hour late and all check in had to take place in person at the counter and no counter was specified for our flight. I had requested wheelchair assistance (I'm 80 years old with back problems), but there was none available."
Contras: "Although reservations for our return flight from Rome to Boston were made 5 months ago, we were bumped from our flight, not advised in advance, and missed several important work engagements. The management at the Alitalia desk at the airport was not up to the task of reassigning everyone. Understaffed and under equipped (staff was unable to get online to reschedule and re-issue new boarding passes) We are senior travelers (75 and 80 years old) and were forced to stand in lines for 3 hours We're headed to the airport now, the next day, and I am dreading the experience."
Contras: "We paid for bags. Called to check the bags were included and on a technicality alitila charged for bags again. When we asked why, we were told this happens all the time. It seems alitila relays on this to rip of foreigners. This is despicable. This happened twice from two different booking companies and only with Alitalia. I will follow this up next week."
Prós: "I had not flown overseas in so long that I had forgotten how nice flying could be. The flight attendants were especially attentive and helpful. Not only did we get a "free" meal, but it included white or red wine if desired. I felt like I was experiencing what flying used to be like in an earlier time."

Prós: "Initially I was a little worried because Alitalia had given us some disappointments in the past, but it was the most convenient flight this time for our final destination.We had to take 3 flights to arrive to our final destination, 2 with Alitalia.The crew was polite, helpful. We were very happy that for the first time Alitalia didn't loose our luggage(!) and we got it in Athens. Thank you!!!"

Contras: "Alitalia is a Bullshit company, we were late to our connection because of the air line, they told us the next flight is waiting for us, but they didn't... We got tickets to the next flight with no compensation and they lost our snowboard case."

Contras: "The boarding was chaos in both Munich and Rome. Apparently Al Italia had instituted a new computer system and the workers did not know how to use it. I spent hours on line getting a boarding pass in Munich, and then again another in Rome (in Munich no one was given boarding passes for connecting flights). I spend hours again in lines to get a boarding pass for a flight to Palermo, missing my connection and only getting a much later flight to Palermo. It was utter confusion. Shame on Al Italia."
Contras: "My wife and I were slightly late to our return flight to Boston. When we arrived we were told that we would not be able to board because of our need to check a bag. We have the same bag that we have flown all over the world without the need for checking. Seems like it would be wise to indicate that Alitalia does not follow industry standard for checked bags when purchasing ticket. We were forced to purchase entirely new tickets for our flight back home, this is an unacceptable business practice. The up charge on the late purchased ticket was outrageous and we were sat next to the toilets which was disgusting!! Contras: "Staff was overwhelmed and not helpful. They don't seem to want to make sure flights are on time or that passengers are taken care of."
Prós: "AlItalia Flight 629 was operated by Airbus A330-200, which is a smaller version of A300 family. The seats were comfortable with enough legroom. The service was OK: there was no cocktail service, but only a dinner, which was surprisingly tasty. Alcohol-wise they served only wine in coach, which was also available throughout the flight at the self-service station by the galley, Overall, I would rate the my flight as just Okay."
Contras: "The flight was delayed over 80 minutes due to "the wait for necessary paperwork," as the pilot has stated. During the wait for the departure, the a/c was off and it was very hot, stuffy and uncomfortable on board the plane. As a result of the delay, I barely made my connecting flight, and there were many passengers that missed their connecting flights."
Prós: "Crew was very nice. Chocolates were very nice."
Contras: "Come on guys for the price of the ticked you could have served us something more than a sandwich."
Contras: "Everything went wrong. The flight arrived 40 minutes late and I missed my connecting flight because they closed the gate before I could get there. As a result, when I asked both airlines involved (Brussels Air and Portugal Air (TAP) what to do, each airline blamed the other airline for the problem and each said it was my problem to fix. After speaking with ten people and begging them to make the problem right for a problem I did not create, they finally issued me a new ticket but I had to wait 24 hours for the new flight to leave. It was a total breakdown in communication and organization and customer support and problem resolution on the part of the airlines and the airport. I never want to fly these airlines again and never want to take a flight with connections."

The flight was smooth and quite pleasurable. Now we are prepared to experience flying with Brussels Airlines again."

Connecting flight was 1hr and 40 min and they refused to give us water! Got to Budapest to find that the ticket Agent had routed three of our 4 bags to Budapest and one to Prague! How much worse could it possibly get!"

Contras: "There was a long-ish and poorly organised layover in Luanda, which involved the flight crew individually identifying the carry-on luggage on the plane so as to ensure no one who had disembarked had left anything behind. This was literally done bin by bin by a crew member shouting down the aisle, "Who's is this brown bag? Who has a grey Longchamp!!!???" This is not something I have ever seen before and it took ages. The cabin also became very hot during the layover, which cause a 40 minute delayed arrival in Kinshasa."

As compensation they could at leased given us coffee for free and not have to buy for a bloody expensive high price."

Contras: "I'll begin with the order of sequence of all that went wrong: 1. A huge queu while we were waiting for checkin in Rome (waited for more than 30 minutes) 2. The steward didn't agree to take a gymnastics hoop to the aircraft, despite its being super light. By the way, the inbound flight the hoop was taken into the aircraft; 3. We (family of 3) were seated separately, what made a huge stress to our small daughter. 4. There were no AC socket in Brussels airport (there were, but not charging) during transfer. 5. Our baggage was not delivered, which is very unpleasant :("

Contras: "the cabin crew refused to serve any drinks until they served food and they were only serving front to rear, rather than front & rear to middle. as i was sat right at the rear of the plane it meant i didn't get anything to drink for 30-40 minutes. i thought delta were poor on that front but these guys were ridiculous. as for the food: i don't expect much from airlines but i don't consider cake & toblerone to make a breakfast, even if it was served with orange juice."

Contras: "We arrived at the airport at 4:30 for 6:25 flight and there were only 3 open windows to check baggage for 4 different airlines. There were over 200 people in line extending out the door and no one was present to explain what was happening. Soon additional clerks arrived and the line began to move, but it took 45 minutes. The gate area was not large enough for all the passengers and there were seats for only a few while we waited and waited."

Contras: "Boarding from a connecting flight is a disaster. For some reason brussel's air didn't validate our passports at the first international flight. Everyone was expected to do it at the Brussels airport. This would be fine if they had a sign up explaining what to do, or even a basic queue set up. There were passengers for 3 flights mobbed around the check point in front of our gate with nothing resembling a line. Everyone was completely confused and crawling over each other. Add that to our delayed landing that put us on the tarmac, forcing us back through security and a huge walk away from the gate... We very nearly missed our flight! Please please please figure out a way to communicate to your passengers and get people into a proper queue!!!"
