Contras: "Missed Flight: The flight from Istanbul to Athens was posted as delayed. We were a party of eight and arrived for boarding very close to deadline (minus posted delays) At the boarding gate we were met by six other passengers. The gate was vacant and closed. The real problem happened at the Turkish Airlines desk where we were treated with arrogance, disdain and absolutely no compassion. AS a matter of fact some of the Turkish Airlines staff smiled as they imposed an outrageous fine to purchase tickets to the next flight and continuation of our previous booking. We intend to protest the charges and contact thru many forms of media inform as many fellow travellers of the incident and subsequent treatment by Turkish Airlines. Social media is a powerful tool and although the cards were held in their favor the night of 9-21-17 our protest will not end here. We are fourteen wounded travellers that have agreed to use as many forms of social media as possible to get our message out."

Drink service did not start until 2 1/2 hours into flight. You get what you pay for I suppose. Still 10.5 on a hot plane!!! I usually need a jacket. Food was ...awful."

Prós: "I got a special meal -- Asian Vegetarian -- and it was delicious. I have also had the regular Vegetarian on other Turkish Air flights and they have been great too. So congratulations on good food! I just have one suggestion about the food: Just because someone is vegetarian, it doesn't mean that they don't want dessert! I notice that where others have chocolate pudding, for example, I get fruit. I like fruit... but a piece of cake or some other sweet is good too!"
Contras: "The pull-down food trays are often angled down so that the food slips into your lap. I often have to hold the cup or glass so it doesn't slip off."

Contras: "The security at the airport is a little too much. Once we landed at Istanbul we went through a security check point which took about 30-40 minutes. I barely made it to my connection flight . Then I went through another security check before boarding the plane. Unnecessary in my opinion"

Contras: "Service was poor - my chair was broken had to switch seat - after switching the person in front of me his chair was broken as well and he was praticly laying down on me. My earphone broke in pieces..... Kids behind me was banging my chair the entire flight. Food was just bad ! I heard so much about Turkish Airline as being one of the best airline that I tried it . Big disappointment !!!!"

Contras: "There was nothing I didn't like on this trip. Food, hotel, crew, comfort... Everything was excellent. My favorite company."

Prós: "Entertainment on long haul flights is top notch. Selection is incredible just bring your own headphones if you wanna be able to hear anything. Food is the best out of any other carrier. I've seriously been to full service restaurants with less tasty and well prepared foods."
Contras: "Seats are hilariously small. I know you're thinking "they're all like that." They're NOTHING like any other airlines. I've flown the following for reference: Lufthansa Air Swiss Delta Air France Air Arabia Saudi Airlines Egypt Air and a couple more I can't think of right now. I'm a very medium sized build and really short (5' 6") and I was so uncomfortable I wanted to (and probably will) cancel my return flight with them. My wife's back is still hurting from that flight. The staff are just plain awful save for 2 flight attendants. Out of 2 flights so far. I was told afterwards that this is commonplace when flying Turkish Airlines. For fairness sake I should mention that both Egypt Air and Saudi Airlines were worse. Whatever money you think you're saving by flying this atrocity you're gonna be spending on fixing your neck and back. Spend the extra and go with Swiss or even Delta. Avoid this rubbish"

Prós: "Our flight was great look forward to our next flight to France hope we get great seats again everyone very friendly an helpful"

Contras: "We did a preselection for seating at the airline office at the Kempinski in Djibuti for our return flight back to US. Only to find that when boarding on both flights we had been re-assigned and not seated together. We were able to be seated together after boarding was completed."

Prós: "Being on the flight was great. The plane was very nice, the food was great and the service was wonderful."
Contras: "If you want to change your flight they DO NOT work with you. You have to appear in person at the airport when this may be a huge inconvenience for you. Also, they do not speak very good English, so, it takes forever to get your message across. If you have any issues at all this could create a nightmare. They canceled our return flight and when I finally got a hold of someone they kept blaming it on me saying that I canceled the flight. You just can't understand them it's super frustrating."

Prós: "The crew. Loved them !"

Prós: "Nothing noteworthy was done well."
Contras: "The boarding staff is incompetent resulting in a 2+ hour boarding time. No control or concern for boarding zones, multiple unnecessary and inconsistent ticket checks, and unclear process. If you took 300 toddlers, made 50 of them gate agents and said board an airplane, you would get about the same result. Food and crew in flight were mediocre. Entertainment system in the seat back doesn’t work, shuts off in the middle of films, and is for some reason controlled by the wrong arm rest. I was in the aisle seat, my arm rest control panel did not control anything, but every time my neighbor shifted her arm it changed the volume on my system. Ethiopian airlines is what failure looks like."

Prós: "The crew members were very accommodating and friendly. They do a wonderful job. When I told them that the power was not working in my seat and that I needed it for my CPAP (I call it my anti-snoring device), they arranged for me to move to another seat where the power worked for the CPAP. When the power did not work in the new seat for my laptop, they offered to let me charge it in a more powerful outlet near the galley."
Contras: "The power didn't work for my laptop. It did work for my CPAP device. Some of the seat control buttons were out of order."

Prós: "The flight was four hours delayed in Djibouti and there was absolutely zero, NO communication, whatsoever, provided by the Djibouti Ethiopian Airlines staff what was going on, how long the flight was going to be delayed, or if it was actually complete canceled for that evening."
Contras: "Flight ET365 was scheduled to leave Djibouti at 19:00 but did not leave until 23:30, without any screen information or by the Ethiopian Airlines staff at JIB airport how long the delay would be or if the flight was completely cancelled. Extremely unprofessional and ignorant handling of the situation"

Prós: "crew good. seat base was not soft nor comfortable."
Contras: "have crew offer drinks more often throughout the flight. every passenger gets dehydrated and needs more drinks. I had to go to the back and get drinks myself."

Prós: "we had an overnight stay in addis ababa so we got a free accommodation in town, that was so great, a chance to see town and get a good night sleep before our next flight. the plane is big with screens so you can watch movies, the seat is comfortable, even for a tall guy like me (1.9 m)."
Contras: "It did took a lot of time since we landed until we got our bus to take us to town to our hotel. we waited in the airport for more than one hour, it was late, and we were tired. but after we got to the hotel, it was perfect"

Contras: "In Lomé ground crew are horrible and asking for bribes including the supervisor."

Contras: "The crew on the ground could be more friendly and could improve their communication. Improvement needed on the food."

Prós: "NOTHING"
Contras: "The experience from the airport to the plane to Lome was beyond troubling. If ever you are flying internationally from NYC, never fly from Newark New Jersey. Nevertheless, upon boarding the Ethiopian Airline flight to Lome that was supposed to depart at 9:15 pm, the courtesy of the flight attendants was a bit mundane. My mother and I sat on the plane for about an hour after the time of the depart before inquiring why we have no moved and the doors were closed. The flight attendant responded with, "We shall be moving shortly." The air conditioner was barely on. My mother is battling stage 3 Cancer and is an older woman so, I feared for the safety of her health in such a condition. About 30 minutes passed, and we inquired again. This time with a different flight attendant and she said she just did not know what was going on. Other people on the plane began to panic in a sense as well because like my mother and I, they too had a connecting flight to catch. The pilot did not inform the passengers of what was occurring. So, at this point, all passengers on flight ET509 had been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half. By the time we were sitting on the plane for 2 HOURS with the doors closed the pilot finally informed us that they were waiting for some paperwork. He did not apologize or give more information as to why we were sitting on the plane so long, with practically no AC, and weren't informed about when we would be pulling off. About 10 minutes later, the plane began backing up while people were still standing because they were restless with the wait especially when we had a 10-hour flight ahead of us. The pilot then got on the loudspeaker stating that we will be pulling in the air shortly and for the flight attendants to be seated. The pilot did not apologize for the inconvenience or state how long the flight would be or what time we would land in Lome, Togo. Once we were in the air, there were many safety hazards administered by both the crew and pilot. The seat belt safety information was not given, the exit areas in case of emergency were not discussed, what to do in case of an emergency, where certain equipment would be in case of illness or an emergency, and we were still not informed about the cause of the 2 hours and 15-minute delay. My mother and I consistently checked the flight tracker and it did not show the duration of our flight, our location while flying, no flight information was displayed and as hard working paying passengers we should have had all of the information and not have to continuously ask to get a slight answer. Also, I am a vegan and they did not have food for me. But there was a flight attendant who gave me extra fruit which I greatly appreciated. The flight coming back to Newark was decent, going was the major issue. I pray we are accommodated for these great inconveniences. Because to have spent almost $3,000 and receive this type of treatment is both saddening and disturbing to me."

Prós: "Meals were pretty good and a screen that had entertainment and could charge the phone. Baggage allowance helpful"

Contras: "Transfer at Addis Ababa was horrendous - no help from ground staff and the airport was a confusing mess. The landing in cape town was very rough and jumpy."

Contras: "The headphones weren’t working and boarding at Addis was very poor. They should have more personal when checking before the Gates"

Contras: "When checking in I asked if I'd need to collect my bags and recheck them for another flight. I was assured theyd make it all the way to my destination and I wouldn't need to re-check it. He was wrong and now I'm trying to find my lost bag."

Contras: "everything about it, from the random cancellation of my flight, to missing my connection, and their inability to get me another flight, spending over 24 hours in travel for a mere 6 hour flight. No customer service, would never recommend Ethiopian Airlines to anyone."

Prós: "Excellent pre-boarding service to get aisle seats. Comfortable on time flights. Pleasant service."
Contras: "Bad service and follow through when luggage lost. Promised it would arrive that afternoon and given a tel number to call. Advised that I could not claim expenses for toiletries, basic necesssities. 1. Luggage did NOT arrive that afternoon 2. No reply to tel calls or got an automatic answering service. 3. No follow through to emails 4. Persistent phone calls at last elicited a response that luggage would arrive next morning - but unable to give a time 5. Luggage arrived late afternoon i.e. 2 full days later 6. I will put in a claim for toiletries, underwear, socks + taxi to get to shops"

Prós: "Great prices, and helpful staff"
Contras: "The food was mediocre, almost poor."

Contras: "We boarded around midnight and after supper, I am accustomed to a few hours of the lights turned off for rest. Even though I requested the crew said it was not policy and I should use the yellow mask (which sadly does not block out the light). I think a few hours off dimmed lights would greatly enhance comfort levels."

Prós: "It showed a decent tv show but the intercom kept interrupting"
Contras: "Delays leaving, delays arriving, the plane felt dirty"

Contras: "We were delayed for 30 minutes, then for one hour, then they announced a delay for 3 hours. They changed the gate twice and the staff was not communicating what is happening and when we are supposed to board. Also, they did not add my miles for my connecting flight."

Prós: "The flight was ok, left late but didn't impact our arrival time."
Contras: "Tray table was very dirty, restroom not cleaned or refilled, generally unkempt."

Prós: "The flight left on time and arrived 20 minutes faster than scheduled. I usually order Kosher meal and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately the Kosher meal they started to serve recently is the WORST food I have had on board. Please avoid the KOSHER!"

Prós: "It was a good flight, made only a little disappointing by all the children running through the plane, opening the washroom doors and leaving them open. A little strange, really."
