Prós: "Boarding was efficient and the crew were nice."

Contras: "The only complaint I had was that it was very warm on the flight (and I usually get cold on flights), and in the seats we had there weren't fans above the seats. A few rows up they had fans, so apparently you have to pay extra for air... This wouldn't be a big deal on a short domestic flight, but for an international flight it was a long time to be uncomfortable!"

Contras: "Our total flight time was about 17 hours - MAD- AMS-LAX. My husband and I both have an internationally approved carry on luggages with us. When we checked in - they asked us to both check in our carry on luggage. The reason why is because they said they don’t think they have enough space for our carry ons. I told the crew member checking us in that other people that was checking in with the same hand carry size luggage with us had no problems taking it with them. For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."

The plane did get cleaned a little bit in Dar-es-salaam however I was still missing a pillow and blanket which I had to actively seek out. Seating was not very comfortable as there was a box attached to the leg of the seat in front of me, making it necessary to keep my feet at an uncomfortable angle through the long flight. I did not enjoy the food."

Contras: "1. Departure gate gets inexplicably moved to an entirely different concourse. 2. Gate agent offers to check bags through to destination, then when I go up, offers to gate-tag my bag. Why did you say you could check the bags through, then? 3. The long, ridiculous AA boarding process consisting of 9 groups and 2 short lanes, taking about 20 minutes to get 30 people outside. 4. 30 people wander around outside on the tarmac, trying to find a sign for Albuquerque. 5. BAGGAGE HANDLERS tell some of the passengers that the planes have been switched, and we should now board the plane marked Flagstaff. 6. Gate agents come outside, receive information from -- again -- BAGGAGE HANDLERS -- and then tell everyone to go back inside. 7. Once inside, gate agents tell passengers they have no idea what is going on, where they will be departing from, or when. 8. Gate agents tell passengers to go through the (long, ridiculous) boarding process a second time, and get on the second plane on the left. 9. A couple of PASSENGERS remind the gate agent that the baggage handlers specifically said that plane was not going to Albuquerque. 10. Gate agents change their minds, and tell passengers to get on a different plane. 11. We finally get on the damn plane."

Contras: "Air Canada can speed up the boarding process by making announcements asking passengers to step out of the aisle to let people pass AND remind passengers to place one bag under the seat and one in the overhead bin like they do on US carriers. Service is always pleasant but nothing exceptional. I find FA’s on American to be friendlier."

The cabin is more than grubby, it is dirty with torn fabric and faded writing on dirty plastic. I skipped the meal on the return flights as the outbound were the worst I have ever had! In all honesty I'm not a fussy traveller and never write reviews but Air Canada was so bad I thought it might be useful info for someone."

Is it legal to overbook a flight? There was something wrong with a plane which caused a chain of delayes, that I can kind of understand but wouldn't like to be on standby ever again, too stressful."

Contras: "Our flight was delayed three hours. My flight and one other were the last to leave that night. There were no TVs on this flight. The only way to watch movies was on a smart phone or electronic device through their app. My poor old fashioned dad, didn't bring his phone so he would have just sat there for seven and a half hours if I didn't let him borrow mine. AirCanada's alternative is to rent an iPad from them, just another way for airline companies to get money out of us. The movie choices on their app were bad and older. International flights usually have new movies to so it is less likely passengers have seen them already."

Although my online checkin was successful, once at the airport the attendant would not allow boarding because expiration was within 6 months of travel - a requirement for certain countries. It would be much more efficient - for airline and passengers - if the online check in system can catch this before arrival at the airport."

Contras: "*The in-flight entertainement required you tonise your own mobile devices, but locks "premium" content (movies) and forces you to install an app to view it - which you can't do once your on the plane and have no wifi. Also, there's no way my iPad would've lasted 7h without a charging port anyways..."

I got back to London to find that my luggage didn't make the journey. Staff at Air Canada were unfriendly and unprofessional."

Staff taking ticket is unfriendly at gate - i was YELLED at because I had a thin garment bag along with my small international carry on and purse. it was considered 3 bags .... since when does a dress inside a garment bag warrant a full other carry on? It could have folded into my carry on but the purpose of a garment bag is so you do not have to wrinkled it in your luggage. He moved me to the side and told me I needed to check it in, I was NOT allowed to hang it in the plane b/c i'm not a business passenger. WTF. After 10 min of waiting on the side I folded up my garment bag and shoved it in my purse - after another 5 min he gave me my luggage and told me to head toward the plane. Worst. Flight. Ever"

Prós: "Prompt and courteous. The Embraer was not new, but in good shape. Entertainment was minimal - especially in comparison to the Dreamliner we flew from Europe to Toronto. The flight from Toronto to Denver was about 4 hours long, but the only included refreshments offered were sodas, water, or juice. Air Canada could do better on the food front. (Other food was available for purchase.)"

Prós: "Flights left on-time. Leather seats reclined comfortably. Crew offered plenty of food & drink throughout the flight. I would definitely consider booking again with Air Canada"

Prós: "The crew was polite and friendly."
Contras: "The seats were very small. I was flying Premium Economy, so it was tolerable, but my daughters were flying economy with very hard seats, very little room, no snacks and no entertainment. It was the Gulag! I can't imagine it being worse for them. On a short domestic flight, it may be tolerable, but for a long international flight across the pond, it was a nightmare! Also, please stop serving those hot pockets as a snack and please stop charging for potato chips and snacks unless you plan to serve a substantial meal! A 400 calorie meal is not going to keep anyone satisfied for 10 hours!"

Prós: "Service was poor. Attitude was less than enthusiastic."

Prós: "The flight attendants, especially Theresa, were fantastic. Theresa was very attentive, fun, and made each passenger feel special. The flight crew Supervisor greeted us each by name and leads a spectacular crew. The seat, amenities, entertainment, and food were just amazing."
Contras: "Business class did not have it's own boarding call."

Prós: "Efficient boarding, plenty of overhead space for suitcase despite being the last boarding group"
Contras: "Information about passport presentation inconsistent with instructions received at online checkin. Seats are small and uncomfortable.Flight attendants monopolized aisles for more than half the 4 hr flight. Weren't flexible about allowing people to use the restroom and move back to seats."

Contras: "Not a single flight during my entire trip, including flying back home, departed on time."

Prós: "Security and.boarding were pretty smooth. Flight was not full so extra seats were available. This flight was direct Toronto to Rome which was nice, previous flights stopped in JFK which meant additional security and immigration screening"
Contras: "One of the entertainment terminals wasn't working, switched seats"

Prós: "Awesome and funny service."

Contras: "Very crowded plane."

Prós: "Crew was efficient and helpful. Captain kept us posted along the way. They also keep air flowing when we were delayed to take off so everyone is comfortable inside the crowded cabin."
Contras: "Crew should try to wake me up for meals. Luckily my fellow passengers did. Otherwise I would have missed all my meals."

Prós: "The food was very good. The crew was very pleasant and accommodating. A bit late leaving but time was made up in flight. All in all a pleasant trip."
Contras: "Some of the entertainment screens were inoperative. The occupied light for the forward restroom (in business class) was not working so you never knew if it was free or not."

Prós: "On time departure and arrival and a friendly crew helped keep this flight smooth despite some turbulence. The fact that there have been electrical outlets on this route for so long is a testimony to the Continental heritage."
Contras: "The seats in economy are just so tight that sleep on this short overnight flight was almost impossible. The lack of more recline (as in the recarro sears used on the LH/LX products) and short pitch make it hard to either work or sleep. The small plane size makes this sardine feeling worse and slows service to the rear of be craft."

Prós: "The check in with united was rather disappointing. The staff working with united were not clear with instructions and rather rude. Checking in can be a rather stressful process when there are long lines and tons of people.... this person was just short, unclear and rude."

Contras: "The Overnight flight I had was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Too uncomfortable to even sleep at all. The seating is so tight, I could barely move my legs when the seat in front of me was reclined (and I am tiny!) I landed after my connecting flight was already boarded, causing an employee from the airline to announce my name over the intercom on the plane and tell the passengers to "clear a lane for me." I ran with my suitcase over my head, bumping into people and making it to my next gate...where I was told there was ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM for my carry on...which was also, very tiny. I specifically did not want to check my bag because I needed to immediately hop off the plane to make it to work on time. Another customer was VERY upset about having to check his bag and was pulled aside. I finally was told I needed to check my bag at the gate to get on. So i did. As I entered the plane, about half of it was COMPLETELY empty with PLENTY of room. I was floored. About 10 minutes later, the very angry man happily entered with his carry on and stored it easily in the overhead bin. My frustration was at a peak. But I said nothing. When I arrived to Newark, I rushed to baggage claim and guess what? After 30 minutes of waiting, my bag never showed up. I had to check in with information and finally found it. But this caused to me to be late for work. I have usually had a great experience with United. But this experience has changed my mind completely and am very upset."

Contras: "Flight cancelled and no alternative to deal with cancelled flight"

Prós: "The best time to fly a particular airline is right after they've been in the news with bad publicity. Every single personnel was attentive and cordial."
Contras: "It was a smaller plane and very full. The seats are packed so tightly together, you dare not sneeze."

Prós: "Everything was fine on the first leg."
Contras: "Delays, very long delays. Not a fault of anyone but United had delays."

Contras: "Was told upon checking in that they did not have s seat for me. United airlines informed me that third party websites do not guarantee seats. You must book directly on united. They over book the flight and several passengers were not allowed on the flight"

Contras: "They ran out of food, didn't get any snacks, which were pretzels, I would prefer peanuts like in the old days."

Contras: "HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM UNITED AND THE THIRD PARTY CONSOLIDATOR. Awful. Awful. Awful."

Prós: "Flight was smooth and on board crew was nice and helpful. Flight attendant noticed I came on with a cane and offered to have a wheelchair ride available in the SF airport. Reminding me that it was a large airport. I declined, but she encouraged me to try it and I agreed. She was concerned and very helpful."
Contras: "The plane was a small plane and we had to disembark on the tarmac. There were two attendants with wheelchairs but they didn't have my name so I walked on. The flight attendant called to me and said to wait. One of the attendants came up with a wheelchair and said he would take me. Unfortunately, a steep ramp had to be used to get into the airport building. He asked another worker to help him and all the way up the ramp I had to listen to comments about "good thing they had eaten their Wheaties" and "they were getting a good workout." I know that I am not a small person, but these ongoing comments were rude and insulting. When we got into the gate the attendant told me that he didn't have my name on his list and had to call for permission to take me through the airport. I waited and he came back and said he couldn't take me, but if I could wait someone else could come for me. I had waited enough already and suffered their rude comments, so I said no thanks and walked slowly through the airport. This experience has left me with a bad feeling for the airline and its personnel. I believe their staff could use sensitivity training at the very least!"
