I had a nightmare with this booking. The airline had to change the flight and this messed everything else up. It was a huge pain because I called chatdeal, which is part of Kayak, and they kept asking me to give them more time to figure out my flights. I had to keep calling because I never got any of the callbacks that I was promised and I didn't have my flights figured out until the day before I was to fly out. Then!, I got to the airport to fly to NYC and found out that the flights were still not figured out and I was lucky enough to only get it figured out when someone from Jetblue figured it out for me. I'm happy that I was able to get it figured out, but I did have to pay for my own stay on the first night because my layover because 29 hours and was not offered a way to get a hotel voucher, which I should have since it was not my fault that the flight was changed.

Contras: "The flight was two hours late. There were no announcements. The only indication of this was when the pilot spoke to us and told us he was sorry the flight was delayed."

Contras: "No additional care was given for traveling with children . Specifically had my car seat for my child for the connecting flight checked ar the airplane entrance and was told once I got off it would be inside. Then got a run around nobody knew where it would be . It ended up not being available for our use till our checked luggage in Boston ! Very disappointed"

Airline reps said a bus would take us to lodging for one of the nights, but a bus never showed up (in fact we found out later a bus never existed for this hotel) -- 4 a.m. and waiting in the rain in Boston. We ended up paying for a taxi to this distant hotel ourselves. We learned we could not trust anything the airline reps told us, even though they thought they were saying the truth. If you go to the Azores, leave an extra 4-5 days to get home, particularly if you are not on Sao Miguel. Almost lost my job over this trip because of this airlines. No apology or explanation for flight delays, etc., was ever offered."

Prós: "Good crew, good flight"
Contras: "Both legs of trip were delayed without anyone notifying passengers."
Prós: "SATA uses both front & rear doors and open seating."
Contras: "No food or drinks."
Prós: "On time departure. On time arrival. Lots of leg room. What you would expect from a traditional airline. Bonus: great views from the pane."

Contras: "Our bag ( and others) were left behind as a company policy appatently. We waited for it and had to file a complaint and then it arrived with the next flight 6 h later. So we waisted time, energy and frustration. Could just book less people on the flight??"
Prós: "Flight from Boston to Ponta Delgada featured remarkable service and surprisingly tolerable food."
Contras: "The plane was old and in a state of some disrepair. We were in the exit row and immediately noticed plastic chipped off of the exit door and broken case covering the emergency release handle. Not reassuring, but we got there in one piece."
Prós: "Cheap ticket between Toronto and PDL, didn't encounter any problems with crew"
Contras: "No usb charging ports on 5+ hour flight (Toronto to ponta delgada), not much leg room / chair reclining room, arbitrary pricing for flights within the Azores"

Contras: "Flight was delayed 2 hours and they never updated us while we were waiting or told us why. They changed planes and seat assignments without notice so the seats we selected we disregarded and we were not sitting next to each other. No entertainment and food was worst I’ve had on a plane."
Prós: "Newer, clean interior. Seats had power plugs and the SATA Onboard entertainment app provided free movies, tv and music."
Contras: "One of the male flight attendants was happy and engaging while the other was not friendly; and two of the female flight attendants were ok, while the younger two were unquestionably unfriendly."

Prós: "The crew was great very attentive to everyone's needs and helping to see that our disembark went well. Great job and a great flight. We all got home safe."
Contras: "I didn't like the fact that we lost one day in the Azores was supposed to arrive on Saturday morning instead we arrived Sunday after one a.m. and again we were delayed one hour."

Contras: "Departure delayed 3 times. Flight was supposed to be at 8h20 am and we get in the plane at 7h00 pm. We were stuck waiting in the Bus for 1 hour because meals were not all in the plane."

Contras: "I went to kayak.com to book a flight,kayak booked it threw flyus who booked thru sata aero..This was such a pain to deal with.My sata flight was delayed so much i Missed my connecting flight.Sata was closed so i had to get hotel room on my own accord.If I book thru kayak,kayak should be my contact,not the 3rd party.I wasted so much time and stresse. So much dealing with tracking down my info.For future travel I will consider other websites due to the complexity of your booking methods :/"

Prós: "The airline crew/staff was FAR MORE SUPPORTIVE than I have experienced in more than a dozen top ranked airlines. In particular, there was a crew member named GONCALO RODRIGUES, who seemed to have led every other member to perform at their best, by his model of service toward the passengers (customers). Such a staff can/must be utilized for training purposes and be rewarded in order to follow the concept of continuous improvement and stay abreast with leading airlines..."
Contras: "There are a few points that need to bee taken into serious consideration - for instance - like as below: 1. More choice of meals on board... There was ONLY PORK containing meal served during the flight and nothing else was available, which came as one big surprise. 2. My Baggage did not get boarded... and had to waste a great deal of time... The misplaced baggage staff member at the Toronto airport need more training toward customers' satisfaction. 3. More choice for on-board entertainment"
Prós: "The staff were nice, I was sitting in a bulkhead seat so that was nice to have extra room."

Contras: "We missed the plane from Boston to Denver but it turn out good. We were tired anyway."

Contras: "5 hrs delay and missed all connecting flights. Airline initially rescheduled flight 2 days later. Called Kayak and got no support. Kayak agent told us to keep pushing the airline. After 2 hrs of "working" with the airline, we were able to fly into Madrid the following day. Had to spend extra money for hotel room and car rental in Madrid because our final destination was Sevilla. Will never work with Azores or Kayak again. BTW, did we mention that while "working" with Azores to reschedule flight, we were booked to fly into an island off of Africa. Luckily, we followed up online with the changed itinerary."

Contras: "The vegetarian meal flying to the Azores was good but coming back to the US it was awful."

Contras: "The flight took off 2 hours late. There wasn't enough food for all the passengers on the flight. The flight attendants looked miserable, but were trying their best given the circumstances. The airplane was outdated, the seats not comfortable, and no in flight entertainment. SATA/Air Azores has a monopoly on the flights in and out of the Azores to the USA and no other airlines are allowed to flight that route. They should be ashamed of themselves by the way they run this airline and treat the passengers."

Prós: "The price was right. All pre-flight personnel were very helpful and friendly. The flight was short and did exactly what it was intended to do."
Contras: "Don't expect any entertainment or decent amount of room. They cram you on and off you go. Worth it for me ..."
Contras: "The flight was delayed as usual. First class was very mediocre. There was no inflight movie, tv or music. First class doesn't feel like a first class flight."

Prós: "Delayed 4 hrs; boarding agent couldn't give any details (meanwhile me kids are screaming); seats were narrow and I couldn't lift the armrest up out of the way. Food was terrible. No entertainment visible from our seats and the headphones didn't work. Flight from BOS was much of the same. NEVER FLYING SATA AGAIN!"
Prós: "crew was nice and attentive. food wasn't too bad. seats were of decent size."
Contras: "very outdated- no inflight entertainment. interior felt old and used so slightly uncomfortable."

Contras: "Because we didn't get the required boarding passes in Barcelona (and didn't know we needed them) when we got to the Azores we had to run around through additional passport control, to the ticket desk because the gate agent had no means of issuing a boarding pass, back through security, through more passport control. Stupid. The plane itself was really uncomfortable, and being stuck in the tiny seats surrounded by screaming children, with no wifi or in-flight entertainment was torture."
Prós: "We read several bad reviews of Azores Airlines but our flight over to the islands and back to Boston was smooth riding and on time if not early. Our three interisland flights were also easy and on time, staff great."
Prós: "Another AWESOME crew doing everything they can to assure passenger satisfaction!!"
Contras: "CRAMPED and miserable - smallest pitch in the air in the airbus 310! Cabin felt overpressurized and extremely loud."

Prós: "The flight crew was absolutely wonderful and very helpful with our 3-year-old son. He keeps asking to go on plane again because of how attentive they were and made his trip very enjoyable."
Contras: "No entertainment at all. The seats could have more recline as it was an overnight flight and nearly impossible to sleep. The trays for business class are so close that it is awkward and uncomfortable to use."
Prós: "The crew is very friendly and helpful."
Contras: "They crammed way too many seats into the planes; it's really awful if it's a full flight, and if you're claustrophobic or prefer space around you, forget it! When the guy in front of me reclined his seat, his head was practically in my lap. Some tray tables were broken. The planes seem old. But it's the only airline that flies to the Azores from the U.S., I believe, so this is the only option. They also very slow, and we left late to and from the Azores."
Prós: "Nothing. We didn't take this flight because of the SATA airline strike which left us stuck in Ponta Felgada for 2 days."
Contras: "We were majorly inconvenienced when finding out our flight was delayed, then cancelled completely, the. It happened again the next day. Lost 2 days of our trip whih were supposed to be in Lisbon. We found a Ryanair flight to Porto just to get to the mainland. What a nightmare. Never flying with Azores/SATA again!!"
Prós: "Our flight left on time and arrived 45 minutes early. The crew was good and the meal served was okay. I think BOS (and Providence in the summer) are the only non-stop flights to the Azores, so that is convenience. Flight cost was fine."
Contras: "Seats are crammed in to the max. Fine if you have extraordinarily short legs. No entertainment. Main cabin screen was off the entire flight."
Prós: "It was a economical flight. The food was pretty good as well."
Contras: "We had changes to pretty much every leg of our flights. One was delayed by 2.5 hours. I understand that flights get delayed but they hardly gave us any information as to what was going on. The flight was pretty smooth but the flight attendants didn't seem interested in our comfort. They weren't rude but they weren't pleasant either. I guess I'm used to a different style of service that I did not receive on Azores."
Prós: "On time flight , friendly service overall all great"

Contras: "Among the drawbacks, long immigration lines in LIS, despite the opportunity to go thru immigration in the Azores - lost opportunity for the airline to market its efficiency and convenience."
