The economy seats were extremely uncomfortable and tight, unlike other Int’l flights we have been on, ie, Virgin and British Airlines 2.Food was the worst we have ever had on an Int’l Flt. 3. Main meal selection ran out. Staff said there was nothing they could fo. 4. Our suitcase arrived really beat up. It looked like it was dragged along the tarmac. There were several large rips. To make it worse, this was the first trip we have used the suitcase."

Contras: "Placed in back row. Ran out of food choices twice!!! Requested they start serving from the back after the first shortage. Told that was not the procedure. The Swiss need to apply customer care to all in the same class equally."

Prós: "After having read Swiss Airline reviews I was prepared for a difficult and uncomfortable trip from BOS to ZUR. I was pleasantly surprised to the kindness and comfort I found in the economy class of Swiss Airline. Bags were checked in, flight was timely and legroom was satisfactory. I would highly recommended Swiss Airline due to my overall experience."

Contras: "check in procedure in Berlin: That airport is different. You drive right to the gate from which you board the plane. I showed up early and was told that I had to take by suitcase to another location if I wanted to check in 3 hours early. After lugging the suitcase a quarter of a mile, I was told that they don't do that and I had to return to the designated gate at the appropriate time."

Contras: "We were glad to have extra leg room at the bulk head, however, the seats themselves were extremely narrow. My elderly father found it exceptionally difficult to sit and stand from the seat. The seat table creates an ever tighter fit for someone with special needs."

Contras: "I landed at Zurich airport at 6am with an 11 hour wait and tried to get onto an earlier us bound flight. The ground crew were awful and rude!. The dint make any effort to smile, look at me in the face or ask how I was doing!. Instead she took one look at my ticket and said “ sorry you bought through an agent, I can’t help you”. When I tried to ask if in future it is advisable to book through Swiss airlines directly, the customer service agent looked at me and said “ that’s your problem”- then she turned to her friend and kept talking! Honestly! . The airport terminal E is grey, drab and boring. No TV and only 2 hour of WiFi. I was told I had to pay to use one of their lounges just to get a recliner chair to lay my head for 11 hours. I felt like I was in a holding cell- and the flight was delayed by an hour, had a gate change that they dint tell us till less than 1hour- boy was I glad to leave Zurich!. If that is Swiss hospitality, they have a long way to go. Save your money and use another airline. You will be much happier- trust me."

Prós: "The most difficult problem I have to deal with in airline transportation occurs when the fellow traveler in the seat in front of me decides to drop their seat back into my lap. The seats are so close together that when the seat in front of you is all the way back the following happens: 1. You can no longer view the monitor on the seat back. 2. You cannot eat or write from your tray top. 3. You have great difficulty getting out of your seat. 4. You have great difficulty keeping from severely injuring the occupant of that seat. The way to deal with this is to get out of your seat. Stand in front of the offending passenger and as politely as you can as him or her to refrain from dropping the seat back so far. But the airline should not put you in this situation."

Prós: "The flight ,food entertainment was very good. But I don't understand the SWISS airline logic. When I did the check in in Prague and got my boarding pass the told me that the system picked me to have the additional random checkup at Zurich airport. Its ok. If it’s done for security reason why to tell the people ahead of time that they will have additional checkup of bags and personal stuff. If you want to do it for security reason do it ( I want to be safe) but don’t do it for the check mark , it doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t protect us."

Prós: "Crew was good. Very polite. The plane was old. No place to charge your phone. The in flight screen required the use of a remote which was inconvenient when having to wake up my neighbor to pull it out of the armrest. Food wasn’t great. Skipped the last meal service. It was like flying 20 years ago. Not bad, but not as good as it could be nowadays."

Contras: "While I was on line to board, a flight assistant came to me and asked me if I was flying by myself. When I said yes. they upgraded me to business class. I boarded the plane and took my seat. Shortly before taking off, another flight attendant came to me, told me they made a mistake, and sent me back to my original economy seat (while I was holding my new business boarding pass that they gave me). When I told them they should remedy somehow their mistake, they said they did not have any other extra seat in business and that there was nothing they could do. They did not apologize. They were quite unprofessional and rude. I fly often and I have never experienced something so unprofessional and rude. Alitalia is far better than Swissair in terms of professionalism and of politeness. I will always discourage anyone from flying Swissair. Worst company ever."

Earplug is uncomfortable, breakfast is plain, hot chocolate is horrible. It was a full flight and we even lost my daughter's cardigan."

Late boarding from Frankfurt to Stuttgart. Had to wait for the shuttle. Flight was fine."

Contras: "I was traveling with my daughter. There was no food choice left for my child and me. Crew member rudely said there is only beef option left do you want to have it? I said no. I asked her are we not going to get anything to eat since you are out of options. She continuously kept on repeating that I said no and that she kept emphasizing that there is only beef option left. Finally she save the supplement To meal. Her tone was very impolite when especially we pay so much and service we get for a long flight is good"

Prós: "Visa for India was not checked in Denver. Landed in Frankfurt and discovered that the visa was expired. Stuck in Frankfurt for 3 nights until new visa was issued. No babes the entire time I was in Germany. Arrived in Mumbai after paying the $350 US change fee and no bags. Bags finally arrived on Monday at 9AM Without clothes, toiletries and medications for 6 nights. Now I am delayed and will probably have to pay rebuke and fare change to extend my stay here."

Prós: "I can’t say enough about the Lufthansa staff- we ran to our gate because our connecting flight was late, and we were greeted by a warm and smiling face who said “It’s alright, don’t run, take your time, we’re waiting for you.” Onboard the crew was phenomenal- Every. Single. One. I have always felt as a burden to crew if I asked for extra water or an extra blanket- not on this flight, not with this crew. They came around multiple times per hour during an 8hr and 20min flight, offering various beverages and checking on everyone. I can’t thank them enough for how caring they were to everyone on board. The captain as well was very professional and had a kind spirit when he spoke. Best experience I’ve ever had- (and I travel multiple times per year!)"

We just barely made our connecting flight and our next flight was way better in service. Our luggage didn’t make the connection and hoping that all our precious cargo from our anniversary trip made it. The flight attendant told us we had enough time to make it to our next flight but I honestly ran from one point of the airport to the other. The staff said it wasn’t that far and no checkpoints to go through - this information was false."

Prós: "the gate crew didn't care if there was chaos. no interaction with waiting passengers beyond those that queued up with direct questions. i'd liken the experience to herding cattle. customer service skills haven't been taught to these folks yet. if i were basing my lufthansa experience on this alone, i'd go out of my way to fly another airline next time. on the other hand, the people staffing the flight were extremely kind, professional, pleasant, personable. a much improved experience. so much so that i mentioned it to a few people once i got home. this crew has received more training on how to provide excellent service than the gate folks in frankfurt."

I asked for this to be addressed and the SAA crew ignored the request and in the morning looked surprised to find out that several of the TV monitors had not worked at anytime on the flight. Not impressed."

They skipped our entire row serving morning refreshments and then complained and tried to shame us all for calling them back. Food quality was on par with Alegent Airlines. We even got charged for one piece of checked luggage 46lb on a international flight. That was a first!!!"

Food isn't great, but no airline food is really great. Boarding was significantly delayed from what it said on the boarding pass, with no updates. But we arrived on time. Getting luggage after flight at Dulles took a really long time, but I think that is more of an airport issue as getting my luggage from another Austrian airlines flight to another airport was a breeze."

Because of this, I missed my connecting flight in Zurich. Apparently hundreds of other passengers were in a similar situation, because I spent the next 6.5 hours standing in line to getting my new itinerary and hotel vouchers."

Contras: "A319 is inherently a badly arranged seating layout. Was in Row 30, no recline, and 3 full grown men for a 3 1/2 hour flight. I wonder if squeezing in the extra 3 or 6 seats is a payout when looking at people's likelihood to fly again?"

Contras: "Not having an opportunity to serve water because it was time to prepare for landing"

Prós: "The air crew service"
Contras: "1. No option to pay for a second luggage; the company website very unclear about the luggage policy; no contact information as well as no web payment service; days before my flight, spent a lot of time and efforts to know that I could pay for a second luggage at the airport on my departure; 2. Paid $120 or so for the second luggage!!!??? After decades flying Austrian I will try switching to your competitors."

Prós: "i loved the food, the alcohol, the specialty coffees. i loved the service. i loved the lay down seat. i loved the entertainment."
Contras: "no complaints whatsoever. this was my best flight to vienna- or to europe."

Prós: "crew"

Prós: "I loved the music while boarding the plane. All staff members were very nice."

Contras: "Prior to take-off, we spent 2 hours after boarding on an incredibly hot plane with no working air conditioning"

Contras: "LOST BAGGAGE !!!!!!!"

Prós: "Plenty of food and drinks, pleasant crew"

Prós: "After departing the cluster fk that is O'Hare airport it's such a pleasure to interact with Vienna and Austrian Air. I had 'only' an hour to make the connection, and yet all, that is all, formalities took no more than 10 minutes. I had plenty of time to spare. Waiting area at the gate had plenty of seating and the staff was professional and courteous. We had to gate check bags as the plane was a regional turboprop, but everything went very smoothly."

Prós: "Flight crew was pleasant, calm, and efficient."

Prós: "Na"
Contras: "Initial flight was late taking off for no reason except they scheduled too many incoming flights. Made my second flight but my bag did not and had to wait over a day for it while missing a day of work."

Prós: "This time it seems I had a little bit more leg room. Which makes a big difference!"

Prós: "It was fast and comfortable"

Prós: "The food was excellent and the business class layout was perfect."
Contras: "On the arrival at Toronto, there was no one at the gate to roll out the gangway bridge. So we waited on the plane 10 minutes. We were flying on to LAX on Air Canada. It took 1 3/4 hours for our luggage to clear the US Customs pre check. Unsatisfactory."

Contras: "Crew was not friendly. Attended more to German speaking passengers and were out right rude to those who spoke no German and little English"

Prós: "Baggage in Riga was available the moment we got to the carousel."
Contras: "Passport control in Vienna was completely disorganized. This is not an Austrian Air issue. Look to Disney World for how to line up large groups of people. Yes, I know Air Baltic is low fare. I have never paid for water on a flight. At least the WC was included in the fare."

Prós: "Service was spectacular. The United crew was awesome."

Contras: "They could not issue boarding pass for the all the segments of the travel. The agent had to talk to someone in order to even issue the boarding pass and even though the bags were checked in all the way to Pittsburgh boarding passes were not issued. I cannot blame the agent because Luftansa had issued the ticket for this Austrian Airline flight."

Contras: "I had no notification about luggage fee in airport upon registration."

Prós: "I am gluten free, and the stewardess knew what foods I could eat of the desserts and snacks, and I appreciated that there was food that I could eat."

Prós: "Very good choice of Entertainment. Crew is very kind AND helpfull.Excelent service from the begining to the End."

Prós: "Not at all a comfortable experience, but I suppose it served its purpose."
Contras: "Seats in economy class are way too crowded, plane was too warm and air was stale (and had an odd odor). Choices of dinner selections ran out quickly, and serving any type of curry (the only option left) on an 8 hour flight is a very questionable choice.... Staff gave some people the full can of drinks, while others only a half glass. Also, even though there was not much turbulence throughout the flight, the plane was still VERY shaky for the majority of the time in the air. Not very comforting for those who are not frequent flyers. In the future, I plan to stick with British Airlines."

Contras: "I wish the flight lasted longer than the usual 8 hours, such a great experience!"

Contras: "Entertainment controls were outdated and confusing to operate. There were no charging ports."

Prós: "One crew member was very good but all were not very available or checking on people. I had a seat that I purchased and it was very hard to recline I only found out that it did if fact recline it the last hour to hour and a half of the trip! It was a difficult push back to get it to recline"

Contras: "Having to change my seat to accommodate a rude belligerent passenger, who had taken my seat, refused to move until spoken to by steward. She then made my flight a nightmare, until I let her sit in my aisle seat. Even then she was not satisfied, she abused me the whole flight damaged the screen so I could not use it until the steward fixed it. Demanded that I except any and all alcohol to give to her to drink. When I am tea total she then continued to abuse me. I asked the steward to move me he just shrugged his shoulders and said there was nowhere else. This is definitely my the worst flight I have experienced."

Contras: "wasn't able to take the flight since I missed it"

Prós: "Amsterdam airport and Rome airport were as breeze to navigate, even only knowing English"

Prós: "punctuality of boarding and flight time"
Contras: "attitude of crew in business class: no sense of true hospitality"

Contras: "It would be helpful for short people to be able to adjust the head rest lower on the seat. More recent released movies would be helpful. More leg room. Not charging more money to choose seats."

Prós: "We were fed a nice pasta meal and offered drinks twice. They also gave a muffin for desert. The flight attendants were very nice and attentive with cheerful smiles. I wish every airline had service this good!"

Prós: "The crew came to get me from the arrival gate to get to the departure gate since our plane was delayed. It helped to know that the airline was checking to make sure we made the flight."
Contras: "I did not get my luggage in Nairobi. The delayed flight that was the most likely reason it did not get to the connecting flight to Nairobi."

Prós: "Boarding was a breeze and the staff were lovely. Online check was very simple and easy to navigate."
Contras: "The amount of extras you have to click no to while checking in online."

Contras: "I have a dairy allergy but had no option to prepurchase a dairy free meal. It made for a very unenjoyable flight as I couldn't eat anything they had. What was worse was after I told them of my situation they said they understood and had a meal that would do but there was cheese, yogurt, milk chocolate, etc."

Contras: "Chek in ....separado de minha mulher e ninguem resolveu o problema"

Contras: "Meter minha esposa longe de mim...em outro lugar...chek in muito mau...depois de pedir a tripulação para juntar os dois ninguem quiz saber e nao ajudaram..vergonha"

Prós: "They were awesome."

Prós: "The staff were friendly and all smiles. Seats were comfortable and we had a quick, smooth flight from Edinburgh to Amsterdam. The breakfast supplied was an egg and mayonnaise sandwich plus a drink, which seemed about right and very Dutch in character."
Contras: "It was rainy and necessary to walk outside to access the plane; the staff should give their customers a heads-up so that jackets can be donned. Additionally, the check-in queue seemed rather sluggish."
