They were making jokes and never once did i see them frown at any demand made by any passenger. The food was very good despite being plane food too!"

Prós: "Excellent crew, provided beverages constantly, meals were very good for airplane food, seats were comfortable for most of the 9.5 hours. Entertainment selections were more than adequate. Even the babies were quiet !!!"
Contras: "TV screens did not function consistently, had to be reset a couple of times. Plane was late boarding (but made up most of the time). Had to go through security a second time even though it was a connecting flight. Luggage got crushed in a carousel pile-up and took a long time to come out."

Contras: "I bought the flight for my mom and she is handicap, the flight got delayed and they wanted to leave her in Frankfurt for 2 days because there was no more flights to the States, in the end they found a flight to Washington DC, she was coming to Miami. She is an old woman who gets lost and I had to order assistance for her, in Washington DC they opened her bags after that they lost the bags, she had medication on them and it was a nightmare to get them back. Im really upset and I don’t think That I’m going to book with this aero line again."

Contras: "We called customer service to change our seats to an aisle seat on both of our flights due to a knee injury and the representative changed them for us after trying to make excuses that she couldn't. When we boarded we found out she gave us BOTH middle seats in the middle of the plane on both flights, she lied to us about them."

Contras: "Booked way in advanced, paid extra to book upper deck on both; outgoing flight Miami - Frankfurt and return, but was bumped out of our seats. Spent 2 hours on the phone trying to book them again, and ended up on a lower deck on the Miami - Frankfurt flight, but re-booked on the upper deck on Frankfurt- Miami flight although not the side seats as I originally booked myself, but in the middle section. The entertainment's touch screen system is inadequate, not reacting to touch efficiently."

Contras: "Entertainment was just too poor(movie selection was just counted numbers.) the seat comfort was one of the ugliest, I think. even though they prepared many of premium seats, still once you compare with other airlines, it is far below than the average I think."

Although comfortable for the ones reclining they are uncomfortable and at times painful ( taller people) and makes watching the screen impossible when fully reclined."

Prós: "Apart from the turbulence everything was perfect. Flight attendants were very hospitable. Love the aircraft design. Great movie choices for the kids. In addition to that we all reach our destination safely. That's all that matters."

Contras: "I had paid for an upgrade to sit in the front of the cabin with extra legroom (row 14A). When I boarded a man sat it my seat. He had not paid for the upgrade, but the crew let him stay in my seat. I had asked him to social distance but he continued to sit right behind me bo matter which seat I moved to. He argued with the crew until they gave up and let him stay. They did not check his boarding pass or ask him to move to his assigned seat I found a different seat away from him but I don’t see the point in paying for extra legroom when the crew let’s people who haven’t paid for it sit it those seats. I felt harassed by the man and was very uncomfortable the whole flight. I am considering my next step, I think I should at least receive a refund for the upgrade I paid for."

Contras: "When a bought my ticket, I had asked in the office about WiFi. They told me that you have WiFi on the plane. I had checked this information on KLM.com and saw the same, that you have WiFi. This was the reason, why a chose KLM! Then I tried to connected on board but I couldn’t! WiFi was not available. Crew told me that they don’t know anything about it! I was disappointed and angry."

Contras: "I did not enjoy the turbulence, which I suppose is unavoidable. More importantly, I felt quite guilty about the greenhouse gas emissions of my flight. I have decided to cut down on my air travel as much as possible as a way of reducing my carbon footprint."

Contras: "the connection flights was the worse! The gate was changed in Amsterdam 3 times! From D82 to C6 and then to C11. The distance between B82 and C was 20-30 minutes walk. No rushing was needed though, the flight was delayed for 1:30h and after we all boarded a further delay was announced. I will never fly with KLM."

We simply wanted to know how much would be charged if the bag was 1-2kgs overweight. We could not get a straight answer, just quoted the unclear company policy. Extremely frustrating and annoying. KLM offer a superior flight experience - it is a shame their terrestrial customer servic does not match it!"

We arrived on-time, went through the line and were then placed in a standing room only area to stand and wait for another 45 minutes before boarding. We were placed near the entrance (I thought to board early as a family) but were later told to join another line when we asked why we sere just standing and waiting while other passengers were walking past us. The communication between staff and between your staff and passengers was poor."

Prós: "The food and service during the flight was great. Enjoyed the meals and they offered drinks frequently. Complementary wine is also a big plus compared to other airlines."
Contras: "The luggage situation. We were very annoyed that we didn’t get a carry on bag and had to pay $92 each for every checked bag. I travel frequently and have never experienced this with another airline."

Contras: "at check-in agent said we did not have coverage on our ticket for our 2 -50lb bags dispite informing her that we were covered and had no problem on our arriving flight to Portugal - we had to pay 196 Euros or leave our bags in Portugal Additionally we had ordered a wheelchair to assist my wife to the gate - which we also had our arriving flight - agent said she had no record of it. She said we could wait which we did and waited 2 hours to obtain a wheelchair (and came close to missing our plane) not to mention the stress associated with the whole check in process"

Prós: "I really appreciated the fact that the gate agents enforced the boarding process meticulously. Often times, even when boarding a certain zone, passengers ignore it and board anyway. The staff made sure that people only boarded when their zone was called. The flight and the aircraft was comfortable. The food was better than what I've had on other airlines, if not at least equal."

Contras: "The entire flight had to wait before two other flights to board that were scheduled to board after us. Flight took an extra hour to reach the destination, and during the flight the crew was constantly banging into me when I had my arms within the arm rests. Once at the airport, our entire flight had to wait for a flight that landed after our’s luggage to come through the conveyor belt. There was only the option of fish for food. Who offers basically microwaved fish on a flight, everyone knows you shouldn’t reheat fish. There was also no entertainment on a 6 1/2 hour flight and the WiFi would not connect."

Contras: "Seats were chosen weeks ago and we recieved a text the night before flight that our seats were changed . They put our 2 year old by himself in tow 38 and the rest of us in tow 5&8 and told us we had to figure it out and ask passengers to switch . Hey made no effort to accommodate"

Prós: "Nothing"
Contras: "Flight was 2 hrs late then when boarding they loaded all of us in a bus. We’re packed in and then stood on he bus for over a half hr waiting for the cleaning crew to finish. Why we didn’t just stay at our gate till it was ready? Idk but everyone seem to not know what they were doing and very unorganized"

Contras: "They lost our luggages twice (from Boston to Terceira so we didn't have anything for 3 days at Flores, and on the way from Boston to DC they lost again) would you please tell about this crammy job they are doing to President of American Air Line Paulo Menezes. They ruined our vacation, this moment I still didn't get my luggage yet. thanks Masako"

Contras: "I went to kayak.com to book a flight,kayak booked it threw flyus who booked thru sata aero..This was such a pain to deal with.My sata flight was delayed so much i Missed my connecting flight.Sata was closed so i had to get hotel room on my own accord.If I book thru kayak,kayak should be my contact,not the 3rd party.I wasted so much time and stresse. So much dealing with tracking down my info.For future travel I will consider other websites due to the complexity of your booking methods :/"

Contras: "The flight from Boston to Ponta Delgada was cancelled twice-- More than 30 hour delay"

Prós: "Nothing"
Contras: "No organization."

Prós: "Crew was very nice."
Contras: "Flight was delayed, but they never made an announcement so we were overcrowded in airport waiting area, many people standing up, not enough seats, and we were kept in the dark Felt like we were being held hostage. Instead of boarding by rows, they let everyone go through all at once which caused the aisle in plane to be blocked. No organization as far as boarding."

Contras: "We missed the plane from Boston to Denver but it turn out good. We were tired anyway."

Contras: "The flight was delayed - because they simply didn't have a plane- 90 min delay plus the additional time required to board 3 buses of passengers. I missed my connection in Boston, causing me to stay at the airport all night for a morning rebooking. The service counter workers said they were not required to help, they did not apologize either. I am not impressed , I will never fly this airline again."

Prós: "It was clean."
Contras: "The vegetarian meal flying to the Azores was good but coming back to the US it was awful."

Prós: "I know Sata has taken some heat for timeliness and overall canceling service. So let me caveat with my flight was on time and has no delays. Which allows me to mark 4 stars! Plus, I only paid $257 USD for the flight!"
Contras: "The business class doesn't have layflat seating... Hey they asked! And zero entertainment so bring something to do for 4.25 hrs."

Prós: "The price was right. All pre-flight personnel were very helpful and friendly. The flight was short and did exactly what it was intended to do."
Contras: "Don't expect any entertainment or decent amount of room. They cram you on and off you go. Worth it for me ..."

Contras: "The flight was delayed as usual. First class was very mediocre. There was no inflight movie, tv or music. First class doesn't feel like a first class flight."

Prós: "Delayed 4 hrs; boarding agent couldn't give any details (meanwhile me kids are screaming); seats were narrow and I couldn't lift the armrest up out of the way. Food was terrible. No entertainment visible from our seats and the headphones didn't work. Flight from BOS was much of the same. NEVER FLYING SATA AGAIN!"

Contras: "Waited in line 30 minutes before boarding even though we had already been through security. Business and first class passengers not given any priority in boarding. Limited food and beverage service onboard. Crew seemed inexperienced."

Prós: "Professionalism presented in a relaxed way!"

Prós: "the crew were nice and the food was free"
Contras: "Because we didn't get the required boarding passes in Barcelona (and didn't know we needed them) when we got to the Azores we had to run around through additional passport control, to the ticket desk because the gate agent had no means of issuing a boarding pass, back through security, through more passport control. Stupid. The plane itself was really uncomfortable, and being stuck in the tiny seats surrounded by screaming children, with no wifi or in-flight entertainment was torture."

Contras: "Service. Food. And the return was worse - they cancelled two consecutive flights with no notice, causing us to stay three extra days, incur connection fees, other costs, and they could care less. Wound up flying to Lisbon on Ryanair. SATA says no refund. Worst airline in the world. We would never go back to Azores, thanks to them."

Contras: "bad food, no entertainment at all, did not come through offering water on long flight, toilet paper ra out in bathrooms"

Contras: "No entertainment, dirty toilets, limuted refreshments."

Prós: "Flight cancelled, were told we'd be called the next morning to reschedule but weren't, an hour on holdeach time we called, rescheduled a flight with extra stops 2 days later, was actually booked on a different flight, and were told we were actually only on standby when we arrived at the airport."

Prós: "We read several bad reviews of Azores Airlines but our flight over to the islands and back to Boston was smooth riding and on time if not early. Our three interisland flights were also easy and on time, staff great."

Prós: "Another AWESOME crew doing everything they can to assure passenger satisfaction!!"
Contras: "CRAMPED and miserable - smallest pitch in the air in the airbus 310! Cabin felt overpressurized and extremely loud."

Contras: "- The one hour delay from Boston to Delgada one week earlier - The FOUR hour delay from Delgada on 6/21/17 - The personnel at the airport were not very helpful in communicating why the flight was late, nor what the accurate time for the next flight would occur - The fact that NO ONE apologized for this tremendous inconvenience until we landed in Boston and ONE flight attendant said "sorry for the delay"...... - The fact that there was NO attempt to make this delay right...... - Unfortunately, your online presence is horrible and will get worse because of this. Eight hours of actual round-trip flight time should not have to come with 5 hours of delays! Especially since it was perfect weather throughout! Very very disappointed in the entire trip."

Prós: "Nothing"
Contras: "Flight got cancelled and passengers were left hanging at the airport overnight sleeping on a cot. And refunds are a big hassle after the cancellation. Worse experience ever."

Contras: "Flight was three hours late, missed connecting flight, staff was poorly organized and kept shifting gates, "business class was nothing more than a wider seat - food and service no better than in economy."

Contras: "They crammed way too many seats into the planes; it's really awful if it's a full flight, and if you're claustrophobic or prefer space around you, forget it! When the guy in front of me reclined his seat, his head was practically in my lap. Some tray tables were broken. The planes seem old. But it's the only airline that flies to the Azores from the U.S., I believe, so this is the only option. They also very slow, and we left late to and from the Azores."

Prós: "Earlier TAP flight was late and caused me to miss my connecting flights. I will try hard never to fly with TAP again."
Contras: "Flight was cancelled because TAP flight was 2 hours late in picking me up."

Prós: "The crew was friendly and worked hard as a team. Especially the more mature male FA. Was able to get preassigned seats! Counter staff was friendly too. Wine served was good and free."
Contras: "Did not mind that there was no movie etc. We didn't even accept the earphones. The food and Azores cookies were not very good. Be forewarned! LIS airport is not very user friendly. Often had to take and wait for buses to transfer from one area to another and up/down stairs ways. Consider checking your bags!"

Prós: "Food was pretty good and staff was nice"
Contras: "Plane was dirty. Tray tables had food on them. Crumbs in seat crevices. Boarding was an absolute nightmare as we were crammed in a shuttle bus for a half hour and then waited on the tarmac for close to an hour"

Prós: "We didn't crash."
Contras: "So far as I can tell, Azores doesn't particularly know how to run a plane. Their service was laughably bad, if you aren't in the plane suffering it. Boarding is bad. They start about 45 minutes prior to the flight, and need it because they're gonna bus you out to the plane. There is no order to who gets on first, you just get into the mob-like line and hope for the best. Once we got to the plane, we waited standing for no apparent reason for about 30 minutes. No announcement was made (in Portuguese or English). Because there was no order to how people got onto the busses, people blocked the isle getting onto the plane as well. Result, we departed Lisbon 1 hour late. There was a connection in the Azores. There everyone had to deplane, even if you were continuing on (more busses). And then getting onto the plane was the same deal. Result, we departed the islands even later, finally reaching Boston 2:15 late. Amazingly, my connecting flight wouldn't leave for another 40 minutes. The lady at the exit ramp told me that should be enough time to get through customs and over to the connection. Unsurprisingly it wasn't. On the plane, the seats were small and uncomfortable. Leg room was minimal. The seats had screens built into the back of them, but none of them worked. The only 'entertainment' we got was watching Linux continuously reboot on the seat screen next to mine. My personal screen didn't even offer this. Food was dry crackers, and an equally dry and sad sandwich. Portions were very small, so plan on packing a lunch. They do offer complimentary beer and wine, but getting a steward over to serve you is near impossible. Service was gruff, and frequently not very polite. I was hit by stewards running (actually running) up and down the isle. Stewards seemed generally more interested in talking in the back of the plane than serving passengers."

Prós: "Clean plane."
Contras: "Late....made me miss a connection in Boston!"
