Furthermore, there were NO snacks available for purchase so you were forced to eat gross food."

Contras: "The only thing that I felt was not appropriate was that they made me check in my carry-on at the gate. Apparently, the airline requested 55 passengers to check their carry-on bags...but they just selected the first people who were closest to the gate. I purposely did not check a bag because I had limited time to make a train connection at my final destination, plus I had to go thru customs and I knew that in itself would be time consuming. I explained this to the airline staff, but they did not care. I think they should have first asked for volunteers; and if still needed, then randomly select people to check in the carry-on. Also they only were making people with the “suitcase” carry-on to check them in....anyone with a duffle-looking bag was not even bothered. Luckly, I’m mange to make my train connection, but I was running to do this...not fun at all."

As a result, I lost the money, the passenger did not fly, and no refund was issued. This is the first time I ever heard of such BS. Not happy, very disappointed"

Contras: "We spent 65 hours in airports in the Azores trying to get back to the U.S. Flights were cancelled for no reason and others were delayed so long, connections were missed. Airline reps said a bus would take us to lodging for one of the nights, but a bus never showed up (in fact we found out later a bus never existed for this hotel) -- 4 a.m. and waiting in the rain in Boston. We ended up paying for a taxi to this distant hotel ourselves. We learned we could not trust anything the airline reps told us, even though they thought they were saying the truth. If you go to the Azores, leave an extra 4-5 days to get home, particularly if you are not on Sao Miguel. Almost lost my job over this trip because of this airlines. No apology or explanation for flight delays, etc., was ever offered."

Contras: "Both legs of trip were delayed without anyone notifying passengers."

Contras: "The plane was old and in a state of some disrepair. We were in the exit row and immediately noticed plastic chipped off of the exit door and broken case covering the emergency release handle. Not reassuring, but we got there in one piece."

Contras: "5 hrs delay and missed all connecting flights. Airline initially rescheduled flight 2 days later. Called Kayak and got no support. Kayak agent told us to keep pushing the airline. After 2 hrs of "working" with the airline, we were able to fly into Madrid the following day. Had to spend extra money for hotel room and car rental in Madrid because our final destination was Sevilla. Will never work with Azores or Kayak again. BTW, did we mention that while "working" with Azores to reschedule flight, we were booked to fly into an island off of Africa. Luckily, we followed up online with the changed itinerary."

Prós: "IT WAS ON TIME"
Contras: "PACKED IN LIKE SARDINES"

Contras: "The flight was delayed - because they simply didn't have a plane- 90 min delay plus the additional time required to board 3 buses of passengers. I missed my connection in Boston, causing me to stay at the airport all night for a morning rebooking. The service counter workers said they were not required to help, they did not apologize either. I am not impressed , I will never fly this airline again."

Prós: "It was clean."
Contras: "The vegetarian meal flying to the Azores was good but coming back to the US it was awful."

Prós: "Did not like anything about this airline!"
Contras: "The flight took off 2 hours late. There wasn't enough food for all the passengers on the flight. The flight attendants looked miserable, but were trying their best given the circumstances. The airplane was outdated, the seats not comfortable, and no in flight entertainment. SATA/Air Azores has a monopoly on the flights in and out of the Azores to the USA and no other airlines are allowed to flight that route. They should be ashamed of themselves by the way they run this airline and treat the passengers."

Contras: "I didn't like that when we arrived in Azores we were quarinitined to a space that could only be entered or left by passing Through security. So there were no bathrooms in the waiting area. I was randomly patted down along with a very small child and around half the other passengers. All they offered was water in the waiting machine. After all the waiting, we reboarded the same plane. They did not explain well what was going on."

Contras: "Delayed 4 hrs; boarding agent couldn't give any details (meanwhile me kids are screaming); seats were narrow and I couldn't lift the armrest up out of the way. Food was terrible. No entertainment visible from our seats and the headphones didn't work. Flight from BOS was much of the same. NEVER FLYING SATA AGAIN!"

Prós: "Crew was professional. Flight was on time. Food was decent and seats were comfortable."
Contras: "Long flight for no entertainment. We were fine with kindles, without would have been a long boring flight."

Contras: "It was seven hours delay. What do you think about that?"

Contras: "I was scheduled to fly and was delayed for 3 days in Boston. I am still waiting to hear back to be reimbursed for the taxis/ubers that I had to take to the hotels that were provided. The hotels were 40 minutes (1st night) and 1 hour (2nd night) away. There was no one available to talk at the airport and the line was ridiculously long. I had planned a trip for 2.5 weeks exploring Portugal and Spain and missed the Portugal portion completely because I was delayed in Boston. I finally gave up waiting and bought a ticket through a different airline so I could meet my friends and not miss any more of my trip."

Prós: "generally efficient"
Contras: "bad food, no entertainment at all, did not come through offering water on long flight, toilet paper ra out in bathrooms"

Contras: "No entertainment, dirty toilets, limuted refreshments."

Contras: "Delayed, no reimbursement, ac was off while we just sat on the runway, missed my connecting flight. Meanwhile all their other flights were delayed also. I couldn't believe how hot it was for so long on the plane. Worst flight I've ever been on"

Prós: "The crew were PHENOMENAL going out of their way to ensure the needs of the passengers were met - truly the backbone of Azores Airlines. The seats on the Airbus 330 were relatively comfortable with decent pitch and extendable headrests."
Contras: "Boarding was delayed twice for a little over an hour total - limited time to make transfer in ponta delgada."

Prós: "The crew on the plane were pleasant and helpful. We landed safely."
Contras: "- The one hour delay from Boston to Delgada one week earlier - The FOUR hour delay from Delgada on 6/21/17 - The personnel at the airport were not very helpful in communicating why the flight was late, nor what the accurate time for the next flight would occur - The fact that NO ONE apologized for this tremendous inconvenience until we landed in Boston and ONE flight attendant said "sorry for the delay"...... - The fact that there was NO attempt to make this delay right...... - Unfortunately, your online presence is horrible and will get worse because of this. Eight hours of actual round-trip flight time should not have to come with 5 hours of delays! Especially since it was perfect weather throughout! Very very disappointed in the entire trip."
