Over the years, I have flown both options, and while Edelweiss is a fine carrier, Swissair flights are still a cut above. Both legs of the flight we had the people seated behind us kicking and shoving our seats. One gentleman was kicking my seat for a couple hours and made a scene on the outgoing flight. The stewardess addressed the gentleman and explained that I had to decline my seat because the seat in front of me was declined. My knees were jammed into the seat in front of me, so every time the gentleman kicked me, it not only hurt my back, but my knees. The couple behind us on the return flight jumped the line to get onto the flight, kept kicking our seats and then pretended they did not understand when we asked that they stop. I think the pilot should address the issue upfront so this toddler like behavior does not go on. I am not sure if it is common behavior, but not something I have experienced on an American carrier."

When the seat in front of me was reclined, the screen was only a few inches from my face. There was a loud, obnoxious passenger next to me who almost got into a fistfight with another passenger until the stewardess came to calm him down."

Contras: "Due to a glitch in the webstei, I was unable to check in online, and therefore did not get a window seat for an 11 hour flight - very frutrating and uncomfortable!"
Prós: "On every flight I have ever been on, if I request it I can get a whole water bottle vs. the small cups offered...however on this flight they refused saying 'it is against the rules"?? As a result I had to bother the flight crew over 10 times to refill my small glass...a huge inconvenience for both of us. The other inconvenience (one I have not experienced in over 5-6 years) was the the headphone jacks were the old fashioned kind...meaning you could not use your own, and the buds given by the airline were very uncomfortable."
Contras: "The handle of the pull-stick that slides into the suitcase was broken off with the pull-stick sticking out of the TUMI suitcase. Used a pen point to release it and get it back into the suitcase. No handle so it was impossible to drag the suitcase. The ground personnel representing Swiss Air at the Boston Baggage carousel was a novice, had never filled out a baggage claim form before. Told me they would phone me. I am a bit skeptical about this claim. Not sure if it was Swiss Air of the local ground personnel who damaged the suitcase."

I’ve never had a problem with my backpack before, and it fits well within the size restrictions and easily fits in the overhead.. then they were unable to transfer my bag that I payed 40 euro to check, to my connecting flight. Therefore I had to wait two days to receive my luggage at my final destination in Rome.. Overall a really mediocre and frustrating experience."

We then had to go through an arduous process to get handwritten boarding passes in Madrid. This put us at the end of the line for boarding. Then the gate agent refused to let us board because the boarding passes Iberia customer service wrote and stamped didn’t have ticket # on ithem. The gate agent made it clear that it was all on me to go back to the agent at customer service to get it addressed and make it back in-time. The other passenger was my 80 year old mother who a I had to leave unaccompanied at the gate so i’d have some chance of running across the terminal and making it back in-time, which fortunately I did. The complete lack of interest in helping or even acknowledging that this was their mistake is the reason why I will never fly Iberia again."

A sugestão era ficarmos a dormir em Paris uma noite, apesar de termos as reservas confirmadas. No gate foram simpáticos mas a funcionária do check in era uma francesa incompetente e antipática, que nem sequer conseguiu encontrar as nossas reservas. Contras: "I am a skyteam member and have platinum status with delta and prior to leaving for my trip I had contacted air europa with my skymiles number and was told baggage was included. Upon arrival to airport my status was ignored and I was refused when asked to speak with a manager. I ended up having to pay 60 euros in baggage fees and then was not allowed to board as sky priority despite showing the airline my status."

Contras: "The seats were very uncomfortable for a long flight. There was also no air circulation so it was extremely hot. The fact that we had to pay for internet is ridiculous. How much more money are these airlines trying to pump out of us? I will not be flying with air europa in the future."

In fact the whole thing, including the newspaper holder and the screen were broken. The flight attendant was not shocked by this at all, simply suggested to use the seat next to me if no one was using it. The entertainment on these flights is awful! Only a few very old movies, and you have to pay 3 euros for the head phones. The planes they have are quite old and broken all around."
Contras: "Website not working. I had to call and was sent a PDF boarding pass without a barcode. I ended queuing at the checkin counters again."

We ran for catch our flight only to find out that it had already taken off. No one we spoke to in Madrid was helpful (in fact, they were rather dismissive) until we finally spoke to a rep at customer service who provided us with our new flight (the next day with another airline) and our hotel arrangements"
Prós: "One of the best international flights I have taken. Comfortable (as much as a plane can be for 9 hours), good food and service, lots of free movie options."

Contras: "We board to the plane via a bus. we were at the bus waiting to go to the plane for more than 10 minutes. A bit long, specially if you have been travelling already for a long time....like me (I was coming from Miami).The bus is not too comfortable....you have to stay still on your feet with a lot of people"

No announcement or apology, they just stopped serving as they needed to prepare to land. They knew from the start how long they would have to serve drinks/snacks but didn’t care and definitely did not go out of their way to ensure everyone would be served. The worst service or total lack of that I’ve ever had."

Contras: "I was not able to check into the flight online as the Kayak link sent me to an unknown page. It was not an Iberia flight but was operated by Veuling airlines, however was still unable to check in by going directly to the Veuling website. If you're not going to be allowed to check in online, that is one, thing, but it isn't great to be given a link that doesn't work and then be nervous that you are not going to get on your flight. The boarding process should be changed as it is a free for all and people are waiting in line on the jetway, when really they are waiting for the buses. I believe the plane was at Terminal 2, so we had to switch terminals via bus. Just seemed as though there should be a better process for boarding than lining up down the middle of the terminal or manage the process differently as we were boarding buses."

Contras: "We arrived more than 2 hours too late - this on a 2 hour flight. This can happen - but flight history shows that this flight is too late every day. The seat pitch is the worst of all low-cost airlines in Europe. Also the plane needs a renovation. We are flying regularly low-cost airlines. But non of the competitors is so expensive. Vueling can’t be recommended."

Prós: "Cheap, clean, great on board crew. I arrived early for my flight and was able to change my flight to an earlier one cheaply, quickly and hassle free. Excellent customer service."
Contras: "Shocking check in. Only 2 desks open queued for 45 mins just to check in. Despite arriving in plenty of time. This was a Saturday lunchtime and the queue quickly built up and despite several members of staff being around no further desks were opened up until the queue became huge."
