I already performed the check in online. What is the purpose of online check in if I had to wait in line almost an hour only to drop off my luggage???!! Very unpleasant experience."

At the gate we were asked to check in the other carry on bag which we bought right before the trip making sure it fit the new small size req. Still that was put into check-in. We ended up with no carry on luggages with us boarded. Only to find quite a lot of bags that are much bigger than ours were allowed to be in the cabin."

My poor rating was because the luggage handling was really poor. Lots of flights from Paris to Amsterdam (almost hourly), but my bag showed up 12 hours later. My wife's bag took 36 hours. And yes, we checked in together. There were lots of confusing messages"

Contras: "Our total flight time was about 17 hours - MAD- AMS-LAX. My husband and I both have an internationally approved carry on luggages with us. When we checked in - they asked us to both check in our carry on luggage. The reason why is because they said they don’t think they have enough space for our carry ons. I told the crew member checking us in that other people that was checking in with the same hand carry size luggage with us had no problems taking it with them. For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."

The plane did get cleaned a little bit in Dar-es-salaam however I was still missing a pillow and blanket which I had to actively seek out. Seating was not very comfortable as there was a box attached to the leg of the seat in front of me, making it necessary to keep my feet at an uncomfortable angle through the long flight. I did not enjoy the food."

The one easyjet person that we could find had no clue and all he could do was try and hurry everyone up which added to the panic and made it worse. I won’t be rushing back to france."

Contras: "The ground staff of easyJet were horrible. During boarding, my girlfriend was instructed to fit a carry-on on the "bag size check thing" and it didn't fit (barely). We we're forced to open the bag and put some of the clothes on to make it fit (the most unnecessary thing, since we're carrying the same weight and volume on the plane anyway). If this was not bad enough, after that, we had to check in the luggage anyway because there was no space in the cabin (making the whole process of removing stuff from the luggage even more irrelevant since volume is no longer an issue). EasyJet goes out of their way to inconvenience its costumers so we are forced to pay more to not be harassed by the staff and their random policies. The flight itself: no leg room and no entertainment."

Contras: "The crew never announced that the flight was delayed by one hour. Boarding was disorganized even with the plane being half full. The crew is Ok and not taking control of situation."

Contras: "Departure delayed 3 times. Flight was supposed to be at 8h20 am and we get in the plane at 7h00 pm. We were stuck waiting in the Bus for 1 hour because meals were not all in the plane."

Contras: "The flight was delayed - because they simply didn't have a plane- 90 min delay plus the additional time required to board 3 buses of passengers. I missed my connection in Boston, causing me to stay at the airport all night for a morning rebooking. The service counter workers said they were not required to help, they did not apologize either. I am not impressed , I will never fly this airline again."

Contras: "I think the through flight through Portugal should have been more transparent. Myself and many others did not know about this flight until arriving at the airport. Regarding entertainment, there was no movie or anything like this for the long flight."

Contras: "Boarding was slow and had people check in at the gate just to wait at the bottom of the stairs for 10-15 minutes in a hot stuffy area because there was no cobus available to transfer people to the aircraft! For the second time flying with Azores Airlines, the in-flight entertainment system did not work in all seats, only in some; of course not ours. Very disappointing and boring for long overseas flights!"

Prós: "I guess I liked that my flight was only delayed for 1 day rather than 3-4 like other people!"
Contras: "We arrived at Logan airport to find a mass of people waiting to check in for the flight. Turns out, Azores Airlines flights had been being cancelled all week and many people had been stranded in Boston (and likewise in the Azores) for days. The local news was even filming a story about the mess while we were there. The monitors above the check in desks did not have any information and there didn't really appear to be a line. No employees were around to explain what was going on. Eventually an announcement was made that our flight was cancelled and to come back the next day. Still no info on the monitors at the airline desks or on the main airport arrivals and departures board, which continued to show the flight as on time the duration of our time at the airport. I had the app on my phone which also showed the flight as being on time. After the cancellation announcement people stayed in line to get hotel vouchers, but since my husband and I live in Boston we weren't sure if there was another part of the process to get new tickets issued or something. After waiting a long time in which the line never moved I was eventually able to check in with an employee who said we didn't need to do anything, just come back tomorrow. When we got home we were able to catch the news broadcast mentioned earlier in which passengers from the earlier flights were explaining how they kept being told to come back to the airport day after day and nothing happened, so I wasn't reassured! The next day we arrived at Logan and things started out smoothly. We were able to check in and get through security. The flight got delayed a few times after that. Boarding was a mess. People started lining up. While we waited, we noticed people at the gate desk in line. It turned out to be people getting reimbursed for their taxis. There was no announcement made and I think this delayed things further since they didn't start this until boarding was starting despite having had hours to do this prior! After people were already lined up to board it was announced that they would board by "sequence number" on the ticket so we stepped out of line only to have them not check numbers at all. In the end we took off about 26 hours after we were supposed to. The flight itself was a sort of charter flight, the airline basically rented a plane and crew to get us over to the Azores. However, we did take the Azores Airline flight back so I know the food would have been mediocre and there wouldn't be in seat entertainment. I would love to return to the Azores but I'm not sure I would unless Azores Airlines steps up their game! Definitely get trip interruption insurance! We were thankfully able to get reimbursed for accommodations and rental car missed days."

Prós: "Crew was professional. Flight was on time. Food was decent and seats were comfortable."
Contras: "Long flight for no entertainment. We were fine with kindles, without would have been a long boring flight."

Prós: "The flight itself was fine."
Contras: "The process of checking in for this flight was horrendous. First of all, I was planning to carry on my bags and check in online. However, the online system wouldn't let me print my boarding pass, so I had no option but to wait in line at the airport. I arrived over 2 hours before my flight, and the scene was jaw dropping. The line to check in on Azores Airlines wrapped all the way around the terminal and was divided into three separate sections so that people could continue pass through the airport. There was no Azores Airlines staff to be found to provide directions or manage the situation, so people kept going into the wrong lines not knowing what the heck was going on. It actually turned out several people had waited in line for an hour for a different flight before realizing they were in the wrong line. Anyways, after a mind-numbing, almost two hour wait, I checked in and went to my gate. The whole flight was delayed since the check-in was so slow. I have no idea what the cause of such a terrible check-in line was, but the Azores Airlines management at the Providence Airport are definitely doing something wrong, and I will avoid flying from there again at all costs!"

Prós: "The crew were nice and the food was free."
Contras: "The airline staff struggled to get the check-in line going. The agent checking us in had no clue about our itinerary, for example, to tell us that we were changing planes in the Azores, AND - really important - making sure we had the boarding passes to do so. Food was really lame (I know, we're lucky they gave us any, right) and there was no in-flight wifi or entertainment."

Contras: "No entertainment, dirty toilets, limuted refreshments."

Prós: "Asked for emergency seat, so space was not a problem. Temperature was cool. Seat uncomfortable."

Prós: "Not much"
Contras: "Never had such an uncomfortable flight! The temperature at my seat was far too hot- I and others were sweating constantly. Also I am 6' 3" but wouldn't recommend anyone over 6' fly this airline, at least not in the normal economy seats- I've never had the experience of being unable to move my legs due to the seat in front."

Prós: "Free food and drinks."
Contras: "Flight delayed and we got no information about why. Few updates and bad communication in general. Faced same problems on way to Sao Miguel - only that trio was delayed almost 20 hours. Will avoid that airline in the future if possible."

Contras: "The 12 hour delay without being told why. We would be told we would leave at a certain time and then it was cancelled, told a different time and it was cancelled, and told again, etc was suppose to be in Lisbon in the morning, arrived in Lisbon near midnight."

Prós: "Our flight left on time and arrived 45 minutes early. The crew was good and the meal served was okay. I think BOS (and Providence in the summer) are the only non-stop flights to the Azores, so that is convenience. Flight cost was fine."
Contras: "Seats are crammed in to the max. Fine if you have extraordinarily short legs. No entertainment. Main cabin screen was off the entire flight."

Prós: "It was a economical flight. The food was pretty good as well."
Contras: "We had changes to pretty much every leg of our flights. One was delayed by 2.5 hours. I understand that flights get delayed but they hardly gave us any information as to what was going on. The flight was pretty smooth but the flight attendants didn't seem interested in our comfort. They weren't rude but they weren't pleasant either. I guess I'm used to a different style of service that I did not receive on Azores."

Contras: "Seats literally had duct tape on them. Food was atrocious. They only entertainment was the old two prone headphones and 8 looping crackly audio stations. On a calm day landing in in boston we set down one side of the rear landing gear, then the other, and squiggled down the runway. As the pilot didn't touch down early enough on the runway he had to really jam on the brakes. It was greeted with a round of applause because landing alive with azores air seems to be worthy of applause by the regulars... Least legroom of any airline. Bathroom was disgusting after 2 hr. Toilet paper was seemingly wadded up and stuck back into the dispenser. Nobody ever got new paper. Ran out of paper towels as well..."

Prós: "Earlier TAP flight was late and caused me to miss my connecting flights. I will try hard never to fly with TAP again."
Contras: "Flight was cancelled because TAP flight was 2 hours late in picking me up."

Prós: "Fast boarding, on time arrival, qick baggage delivery. Lots of leg room. Friendky staff."

Contras: "Ticket was booked as Czech Airlines operated by Smartwing. Kayak directed me to checking in on Czech Airlines but did not work, spent nearly 2 hours to figure out I need to check in on Smartwing .com, but luggage fee needs to be paid to Czech Airlines, and seat selection fee paid to Smartwing."

Prós: "Awesome staff. Was upgraded to comfort seating for free"

Contras: "Dense seats. Terrible check-in inefficiency. Crew argues with passengers. What not."

Contras: "My flight was delayed by several hours due to disruption at Gatwick which is by no means airlines fault. But what's unforgivable in modern age in the inability to check in online or at the airport's terminals without visiting the check in desk. This meant that even though I had no luggage to checkin, still had to wait in 1.5 hour queue to then go to the only desk available for my 20 secs checking and issue of the boarding pass. What a waste of time! (flew from Gatwick as apparently online checkin is available when flying from some other airports)"

Prós: "Nothing. Probably the last time I will fly with them."
Contras: "Huge delays. We had connections but they forced us to do check-in for every leg separately. Long queues. In both flights unexplained delays. We sat in the plain for two hours and they did not explained why."

Prós: "Boarding was fast and quite organized nicely"
Contras: "I asked for an emergency place due to my height (6"5) and got one, only to realize that instead of placing 2 rows for the emergency area they placed 3(!) rows, making the emergency exits the smallest rows on the plane. Eventually we were moved to other seats, but that was horrible. No food. No Entertainment. Crew was Hebrew speaking but talked to the passangers only in English (bad one, I must add)."

Contras: "Hi, Words cannot describe the damage your crew made when separating the seats between my wife and I. She is pregnant and I wasn't able to sit by her during the flight. SHAME ON YOU!"

Contras: "The most tight plane I have ever been. Luckily the flight was just for 4 hours, horrible."

Contras: "They checked us into the wrong gate. We then had to walk upast and down stairs and across the tarmac to get on the plane. My husband have low blood pressure problems and problems with stairs. There was no consideration."

Contras: "The crew was extremely rude - I was in an isle seat and overtime a crew member walked by they rammed into my arm and didn't even say sorry. They also tapped me hard when we were getting ready to land and said "Earphones out!" overall the crew was the worst I have ever had. Never will I fly with this airline again"

Prós: "Seats were very comfortable. The staff...very efficient. I was concerned that I could not check in online because I had not purchased directly through them but my fears were unfounded. 2hours before and they started checking people in"
Contras: "The one star responses should have been "not applicable" since we did not purchase anything to eat and have no comment. There was no entertainment, so we can't comment on that either."

Contras: "Departure delayed by THREE HOURS due to too late arrival of the plane from previous fligh. This can happen. However TOTAL LACK OF INFORMATION AT THE AIRPORT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! The flight was scheduled for 10:20 and this information was still at the information board even at 11:00 while the information about the status including a new departure slot was definitely known to the airport as well all SmartWings officials by that time!!! Flight was ok but the landing was not. The first attempt was not successful so the plane took off again when almost touching the runway and the second attempt landing was pretty hard. Explanation given for the failed first attempt was most likely only a bad excuse (insufficient distance from previous landing plane). Later I found out the flight captain (Mr. Vojta) was also the instructor for new SmartWings pilots so presume a new pilot was learning to land which as a passenger I don't appreciate to be subjected to."

Prós: "Absolutely nothing."
Contras: "Original departure time: 20h Effective: 23h Because of this unbelieveble delay, I lost my bus to Piccadily and got stuck at the airport to get a train. Result: I was supposed to arrive at the hostel 22h quietly but arrived 4am in the morning. Company Explanation: plane in Madrid. Did they not know that people had bought the ticket and waited in Prague? Where is their responsibility? 110 kc not account for it"

Contras: "Our lugugge did not arrive from Prague!"

Contras: "They forgot our luggage, what the heck!"

Prós: "Nothing"

Contras: "Two days before the flight, they emailed to say that instead of 8:05 am, the flight would leave at 6:55 am. Ok, fine. I get to the airport at 5:30 and the flight is now leaving at 9:30 (and was further delayed to 10:20). I really could have used the extra sleep. Why bother with the email? Better yet - SEND ANOTHER EMAIL NOTIFICATION! They gave us a food voucher for the inconvenience but failed to mention that it wouldn't be honored on the plane. Very nearly missed my connecting flight which I had planned a full 4 hours between landing and takeoff. Harumph!"

Contras: "I was lead to believe i had bought a Czech Airlines ticket, when in fact, the actual company was smart wings where they only have 15 kg!! of weight allowed, so I was forced to pay an insane amount of overweight and in addition, my sports equipment, which in Czech Airlines was supposed to be free of charge, cost me 65$!!. so no, I do not like being fooled, and no, I will not fly with smart wings again."

Prós: "Boarding was also a little chaotic because of security But a necessary step"

Contras: "Both flight were late"

Prós: "Overall, everything was as expected, nothing exceptionally remarkable."
Contras: "It was too hot inside of the plane. The pocket of the seat in front was sticking out and jabbing my knees."

Contras: "I got lucky with the ticketing person who disregarded the fact that both of my pieces were 23 kg and let one pass but I did pay for the second as much, if not more than I will pay for trans-Atlantic today. I asked if this payment covered the later flight and was told, as if in astonishment, "Of course not.""

Prós: "Goodf flight and good crew and luggage all included, no extra fees."
Contras: "The flight was delayed around an hour both on the way and an hour and a half on the way home."
