I was made aware that a Visa is required while attempting to go through passport control. I had to leave the line I spent 30 minutes waiting in to go get a Visa for 25 Euros. I was never informed of this requirement by Kayak or Turkish Air. It was a very frustrating experience and an added expense for which I expect to be reimbursed."

Contras: "1) Since we had a long layover at Istanbul, the airline provides the option to take you to a free hotel to spend the night. I knew this information based on online reviews, but the airline itself never did anything to offer this, I had to walk around on the airport, for like 2 hours I could not find decent help and some instructions in broken English. I had to pay 25 Euros to get mi visa stamped and walk out of the airport. The Turkish Airlines attendant that set up the free hotel for us, walked us to a shuttle that would drive us to the hotel, but the shuttle driver got lost? or something happened that caused for him to drive around town for more than an hour, speaking on the phone loudly in Turkish and completely ignoring us when we asked questions, This got a little scary since we had no idea what was going on, at some point we were in the middle of a dark residential area, and listening to the driver yell on the phone (god knows what). Luckily a driver came over and guided us to the hotel, but seriously, they should be careful about who they hire for these kind of tasks. (I posted a video on instagram with footage of the guy driving us around in case my family needed to find me)."

We had continued to receive emails for our original flight which still existed. Have no idea why they would move us in the first place and not tell us. We had to go through the hassle of getting switched back to our earlier flight which took an additional hour of dealing with people. This mimics our experience flying from Dalaman to Istanbul when our flight was canceled and we received no notification. They told us it was too early to receive a notification (we were there 12 hours in advance). However, had we arrived within the suggested window and found out it was canceled we never would have been able to reschedule to a connecting flight that still got us to Madrid in time.When checking our bags, the clerk tried to tell us that a backpack and small purse were too big to count as personal items even though they had been fine on ALL of our previous flights. I pointed out that individuals in other lines had larger backpacks that were being counted and he finally acquiesced but with a lot of attitude. The plane was then an hour late. The sign for boarding continued to tell us it was on time up until 45 minutes AFTER we were supposed to have boarded when it finally updated and said 'delayed'. The crew stood around laughing and providing zero updates as we all worried about whether or not we would make our connecting flights. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE OVERALL"

We had to carry our luggage down 2 flights of stairs to get on a bus, which then transported us a very long ways away on the tarmac. Then it was an older model plane and the engine noise, even though we were up front, was extremely loud! It was somewhat worrisome. The food was terrible and by the end of the 90 minute flight our rears were sore from the poor seat cushioning. Not a good experience at all. All of this was after a terrible experience and delay just trying to connect flights within the German airport and the security delays that probably would have made us lose our flight if it wasn't delayed. There needs to be a better system if you are not staying in Germany but just connecting flights from the same airline!"

The Austrian Airlines lady who told me that I would just lose my tickets and that I could not even pay a penalty to avoid such thing, was very VERY RUDE!! Contras: "Kayak sent me an email at 5:16am for an 8:15 am flight titled, "Austrian Airlines flight #704 from PRG on time". It was in fact cancelled. Unfortunately we missed the connection for the flight to Newark, which we were expressly told would be held for us... they shut the door 30 seconds before we arrived, with the plane still at the gate. Had to then go to the only counter in the terminal to see if we could get on standby. Finally got on a flight to JFK instead at 5:15pm."

This makes no sense and must be due to booking through a third party. Unacceptable and not worth the $40 per ticket savings."
Prós: "Even though I was very disappointed at what the Austrian airline did to me, the staff and crew and captains where professional and the flight was comfortable especially on Lufthansa. However, I missed the experience of enjoying the flight with the group of people that I joined on the way to Vienna and to Egypt."

I paid extra money when I reserved the tickets in the USA to make sure I am on the same plane as the other three families that i wanted to be with as a group. They had reserved their tickets and I got the flight numbers and when I reserved my booking I paid extra to be on the same airplane as the rest of the group. My plan worked going to Vienna and to Cairo (although one of the planes were delayed 3 hours which ruined our stay in Vienna) but on the way back from Cairo to LA, I couldn't be with the group because I left 2 hours early and arrived in LA 2 hours late. I pleaded that I came with a group but they said I have a different booking so they couldn't honor keeping me on the same plane as the group. I am very disappointed and will avoid my future travel with Austrian airline"

They behaved like a low cost company with one answer to any request, and this is the word "NO". It does not seem logical that we ever go with Austrian again. If you cannot carry your bag by hand for extended time or has rollers, it's not a carry-on. Carry-on is a backpack or small valise not a suitcase with rollers. Contras: "Our total flight time was about 17 hours - MAD- AMS-LAX. My husband and I both have an internationally approved carry on luggages with us. When we checked in - they asked us to both check in our carry on luggage. The reason why is because they said they don’t think they have enough space for our carry ons. I told the crew member checking us in that other people that was checking in with the same hand carry size luggage with us had no problems taking it with them. For being about to be on a 17 HOUR FLIGHT we should be ALLOWED to have our carry ons with us! We take carry ons for that reason! I had to argue and prove my case to the crew member to atleast keep 1 carry on with us. I thought that was an UNACCEPTABLE reason for us to check in a carry on luggage when we had a 17 hour travel time ahead of us. Not a happy costumer here."

Contras: "The first announcement they made to all of us in the economy section was thay they did not have any headphones for anyone but business class. I was told when I booked the seat that the headphones would be complementary. So I did not bother to bring any assuming they were going to keep their word; I figure I'd make it work and watch a movie without sound. If that isn't bad enough midway through my nine hour flight my monitor went out and would not turn back on."

Contras: "I disliked the fact that when I tried to download my boarding pass on to my BA app, it told me there appeared to be an issue with at least one of my travelling documents when this was absolutely incorrect (was travelling with a valid British passport). I had no problems whatsoever at the airport at the check in counter. Also, the boarding gate was slightly chaotic. Most people didn't know which queue to join at the boarding gate. Some form of clear explanation when you arrive at the boarding gate would be helpful."

Thing which of course didn't do... very bad service.. I'll keep traveling with easyJet and reconsider British airways only for a super cheap flight."

You baggage personnel stole the gifts We purchased for our grandchildren in the Baltimore airport terminal baggage area. Where was TSA security?"

And fail to provide most basic information of local scheduled flights you might just leave oneworld and let up-to-task risen stars add to the alliance (instead of abusing her standing as BA does. Shame on you."
Prós: "We liked that our Renfe train from downtown Madrid took us straight to Terminal 4, same as British Airways. Service counter personnel were helpful and suggested checking in our carryon luggage for no charge. Plane was on time and comfortable for the trip to London."

Contras: "Because our flight was late arriving into London, it caused us to miss our connecting flight and needless to say, there was an overwhelming oh well attitude from the Brittash Airways workers. We should have arrived home at 6:50pm but because of all the delays we didn't arrive home until 2am and WITHOUT our luggage. I'm beyond frustrated and exhausted."

Contras: "Staff is terrible. The aircraft flew yesterday was a 27 year old Boeing 767. The seat electronics did not work at all. Light, attendance call etc... An electric cable dangling from the top. When I asked them what it was the first response was that it was to help you get off your seat. Then when I asked again I was told that it was part of the electric wiring. Never ever ever fly BA. The only few remaining icons of British nationalism."
