Prós: "We were traveling from IAH gto FRA with two dogs. One in a crate and one in a small carry on dog bag. Lufthansa handled the process very well. They expected us at the airport, helped us through the entire checkin with a smile, helpful information and care. They brought us and our dog to TSA and after boarding confirmed that our dog had been loaded and safely taken care of. The cabin crew also checked on us and our in cabin dog. I don't know any other airline that makes traveling with a dog so easy and pleasant."

Regardless, my expectation of German airports and German engineering is high, but things we take granted in US like escalators are a luxury in Germany and clear directions are missing... on the oncoming flight we had to wait for a door to be unlocked while everyone was stuck in the aisle way and stairs.."

Someone asked if there was anyone trying to get on the SF flight and a bunch of us raised our hands, but they didn't do anything. We had to run like OJ to make our flight. Not fun. Then the AC wasn't working while we sat there."

Contras: "Frankfurt Airport is awful! Finding how to go thru immigration and being sent to three different places. Trying to figure out how to get to baggage claim. And the. Sorting out trains into the city. Worse than Charles de Gaul and I thought that was the real rock bottom."

Our flight was delayed twice, once in Frankfurt for late luggage and the ground crew left without pushing back the plane, then again in Seattle for a plane on the tarmac on fire. A 10 hour flight turned into 14 hours but I still enjoyed it. There was plenty of leg room and the seats were very comfortable. The entertainment was very enjoyable and the meals were satisfying. For such a long haul Lufthansa made the time flyby."

Contras: "I fly Lufthansa several times each year. This flight was the worst I can recall. My husband and I purchased exit row seats for additional leg room only to discover that an additional row was added in front of us for people with babies. We were squished behind them with very little leg room. We were surrounded by several babies, all of them crying constantly; this was totally ignored by both the parents and the crew. I was ready to start crying loudly myself, wondering if anyone would pay attention to that. We ordered special meals online but were served regular ones. When I told the attendant that we should be getting special meals, he peevishly and defensively said "you should have told me". These meals are normally served without any special prompts, so I have no idea why he was so angry with me! The crew practically hid from all the crying babies and was avoiding our section of the plane for around six hours. No water served, no one checking on anything. Lastly, my suitcase was cracked and needs to be discarded. altogether: a horror."

Contras: "- Delay > 2 hours and no info at gate at the time of planned boarding - unfriendly ground staff and chaotic check in - old 747, "entertainment 1970s standard - crew looked unkempt (like just out of bed), unfriendly to downright rude, my 85 year old mum was ignored repeatedly and ended up not getting enough fluids as a result - 1/8 crew members managed a smile on occasion - rushed meal "service", all they wanted was to disappear to sleep - crammed spaces - while it was announced "we have three different meal choices, you will have at least two choices" - ummm, no, it was pasta. Period. To be fair the pasta turned out ok. The morning dry ham and cheese bun was not, especially without any drink."

Contras: "I had paid for an upgrade to sit in the front of the cabin with extra legroom (row 14A). When I boarded a man sat it my seat. He had not paid for the upgrade, but the crew let him stay in my seat. I had asked him to social distance but he continued to sit right behind me bo matter which seat I moved to. He argued with the crew until they gave up and let him stay. They did not check his boarding pass or ask him to move to his assigned seat I found a different seat away from him but I don’t see the point in paying for extra legroom when the crew let’s people who haven’t paid for it sit it those seats. I felt harassed by the man and was very uncomfortable the whole flight. I am considering my next step, I think I should at least receive a refund for the upgrade I paid for."

I'm his mother, I'm currently visiting family in Scotland, so couldn't help him much. I'm pretty disgusting and disappointed by the whole experience."

Prós: "We are guessing they either overbooked or they didn't have sufficient passengers on a Tuesday afternoon who's final stop was Glasgow. They rebooked him for 1200 the next day. DFW to MN, St Paul to Schipole, Amsterdam to final destination, Glasgow. So he ends up having to pay for another Lyft back to our apartment in Dallas, then another additional one for the 12 noon flight the next morning. If he didn't have family living in Dallas, he would've incurred a hotel fee too."
Contras: "He was bumped to the next day due to his flight being cancelled. Then re-booked the next day, with an additional layover. Then due to a 32 minute layover that left 3 minutes sooner..."

Contras: "The crew did not know the law about child safety seats. They tried to inform us we could not use it, even though it is approved for air travel. Then they tried to tell us we had to face it forward, which is illegal and it cannot be secured like this. Then they told us the car seat needed to be against the fuselage, but that all the fuselage seats were taken. They did not offer a solution to this problem. I informed them this was TAP's fault for assigning those seats to us. They said they were not responsible, which is clearly wrong. They could have reassigned us at check-in and avoided the problem. They were very concerned about the ability of the person in front of us to recline their seat, but no interested at all in the safety of our baby. They told us we would not be able to use the seat, although our baby was already asleep. They were trying to find a way to make us leave the plane. Finally, some other passengers volunteered to move so we could sit against the fuselage with nobody in the seats in front of us, so we would not block them from reclining. A solution would not have been found by the crew. Only thanks to generous passengers were we able to stay on the plane, even though we were doing everything completely legally. They made my pregnant wife feel so bad that she cried for the first hour of the flight. Then, as the flight was concluding, our baby got airsick and vomited. They crew did nothing to help aside from bring 3 (!) napkins and then leave again. Incredibly unhelpful, mean, ignorant, and combative cabin crew. Truly appalling."

Prós: "Hassle free boarding. Considerate crew."
Contras: "The seats were uncomfortable."

Contras: "If one has not checked in in advance on internet, one is to pay 5 euro pro person at the check-in desk. This information should be communicated to the passangers in advance!"

Prós: "The crew was very helpful"
Contras: "It took forever to get our boarding pass because the system at the airport had problems for us .We were about to be late for the plane and not even go on the trip"

Prós: "good price; flight and baggage arrived on time"
Contras: "Really long line at the airport even though virtually everybody does check-in ahead on internet. Found it unpleasant and stressful to estimate luggage weight and pay for checked baggage online due to heavy $ penalty if you wait until you get to the airport. I believe this is done so that they don't have to staff the airport check-in desks more adequately. Seats were not comfortable (not much cushion) and leg room was tight."

Contras: "The entretaiment"

Prós: "I liked it all"
Contras: "The flight was 1,5h late so we had to call off our planned dinner trip to Freising between connection flights"

Prós: "The entertainment"
Contras: "They delay the flight and boarding was very disorganized"

Prós: "quite new plain"
Contras: "Horrible comfort on the plain, too less space for legs, very uncomfortable chairs! Too hot inside, nothing to do in the 4 hrs flight time, no entertainment."

Prós: "Not much."
Contras: "Took my carry on onto the plane, it barely didn't fit in the overhead, I was told it would go under the plane. The bag was never put on the plane, and therefore I had to ski the next day in my jeans and utilize only what I had on my person in a new place I'd never been. Of all the times to lose a bag, you'd hope it wouldn't be on a 3 day trip deep in the mountains of Austria when you're by yourself. How could you take a small bag from inside the plane and then not put it underneath the plane minutes before take off? Horrendous."

Prós: "The crew and food were very nice. Unfortunately, getting from Point A to Point B was a struggle."
Contras: "They didn't leave enough time for connecting flights (we touched down at the same time my connecting flight was boarding), and screwed over a lot of passengers by last-minute not sending their luggage to the connecting flight. I lost my luggage and still haven't found it."

Prós: "Delayed for two hours, that's ok but not being able to locate the luggage is a great discomfort and stress"

Prós: "Crew management of the situation, reserved a hotel with a breakfast for the whole passengers. that was nice but still .!!!"
Contras: "Flight delayed for more than 1 hour first, then we boarded late, then they asked us to get down the flight (because of weather problems) we ended up in a hotel sleeping unitl the day after (12 hours overall)"

Prós: "My husband and I are both tall people, over 6 feet and this was the smallest most uncomfortable seats we have ever been in. We were put in the very last seat and couldn't even fit our legs in. Then when the person in front of me tried to put his seat back I was in so much pain I had to ask him to move it back up. They also wanted to charge us $120 for a bag when our flight was only $100, which was ridiculous! Thankfully the staff was nice enough to waive that fee for us."

Prós: "When we arrived at the airport and went to the counter of Air Berlin turned out that the card is returned not including luggage. The flight from Tel Aviv to Berlin included a suitcase but not from Berlin to Tel Aviv. We paid 120 euros for luggage, although we have not seen an invitation not have paid everything in advance. No one tried to help us, and to explain and attitude was cold and arrogant."

Contras: "Caused damaged to my luggage and I reported and sent all the documents needed. It's been two weeks and the company still hasn't contacted me."

Contras: "No service at all."

Prós: "Service is great def gonna use them more !!!!"

Prós: "Quick, smooth flight"
Contras: "I ended up paying 60 eu either way for my bag"

Contras: "No food, no entertainment"

Prós: "AirBerlin has always been a lovely little airline. Wonderful crew and pilots all around. A bit more expensive than the low cost carriers, but better flight times and a normal flight experience (or what used to be normal) was their forte."
Contras: "What I don't like. They don't know what they want to be. Not the crew or pilots, the executives. In September AirBerlin changed their policy of serving 'free' food on flights. I understand that they are competing with the Low Cost carriers (especially as O'Leary has set his sights squarely on AirBerlin), but charging flights that cost more than double of a low cost, yet offering the same experience of a low cost is a sure way to lose customers. Case and point: Flight to Vienna, we were offered complimentary sandwiches and drinks. Return flight, they charged for drinks and food. Which is it, AirBerlin? Either do complimentary food and drinks and keep your customers or keep you fares the same, charge for drinks and food and lose customers. But doing both with no rhyme or reason shows that those in charge do not understand their business."

Prós: "Never did I feel that I was being mobbed at the check in this way before . The guy pretended to help but instead only was doing things harder for every body. He was asking to repack for unclear reason. Forcing people to open their suitcases on the counter to move one item from one bag to the other. Charging for a back pack the size of a personal handbag. Then on board water is 3 euro for a small bottle. Only toilet paper was for free . never again !!!"

Contras: "The landing. The pilot left a dent on the runway."

Prós: "The amount of care from the crew was enough to give 5 stars, but there was also good choices of movies to watch, and no troubles while boarding."
Contras: "The seats can be a little small for someone who is 6'4, but that is my burden to bear. It was a little hard to check in online prior to getting to the airport."

Prós: "Plane was clean and comfortable. Service was pleasant. Waiting area was also comfortable and signage was good. Check in was simple."
Contras: "Flight was delayed and boarding process was disorganized. Luggage took awhile upon landing."

Prós: "Flight boarded, departed and arrived on time. Flight attendants friendly and professional. Plane clean."
Contras: "No beverage service. Having to leave terminal A and go through security again at C."

Prós: "Flight arrived on time despite late departure. Friendly and professional staff."
Contras: "Having to depart terminal A and go through security again at terminal C"

Prós: "AB is a new efficient carrier that delivers what it promises"
Contras: "The rules on luggage are very hard to find and punitive if you violate them. We had to pay 60 Euro to check a bag. However if we had chosen to do so when we booked it would have been 30. You can't do this when you check in online when you likely know what you will be taking. Service desk is sympathetic because many make mistake."

Prós: "Good short flight, with free drinks/snack"
Contras: "It was all fine"

Contras: "Air Berlin lost my luggage. Plus they don't pick up my call to their customer service. They are extremely poor in this regard."

Prós: "Quick flight with good service"
Contras: "We were shocked by outrageous fees for checked bags -- 60 EUR for one piece that other airlines consider carry on. More than the ticket itself! Watch out for this. Wish kayak had included this info somehow."

Prós: "No real problems with the flight, but nothing stands out as particularly good"
Contras: "I really don't like being charged more than 30 EUR to choose my seat when I am careful to check in as soon as it is possible to do so. It's a strong disincentive for me to choose AirBerlin the next time I fly."

Prós: "Seats were comfortable leather, they served drinks and your choice of sweetbreads savory snack, flight was short, and we didn't have to go through passport control because we were traveling between two EU countries."
Contras: "No entertainment but flight was so short it didn't matter"

Contras: "Having to wait several hours to confirm my booking. I wanted an immediate confirmation my flight was booked as my associate did."

Prós: "Very prompt and curtious staff. The flight was smooth and I was seated in an exit row, so there was plenty of room."
Contras: "We had to check baggage last minute and it was very expensive, but we could have purchased tickets with baggage, so just be aware if you have luggage to purchase in advance. Also, only 8 kilos allowed as carry-on, mine was small enough but too heavy... :( Boarding in TXL was crowded with other flights leaving in the same area, but we got on with no problems."

Prós: "Nice flight, fairly standard. Met expectations, crew was very nice and snacks better than average"
Contras: "Boarding was a bit disorganized; did not use groups listed on tickets."

Prós: "Eventually arrived at my destination"
Contras: "Air Berlin is ready for closing their business. They have no idea of what they are doing and it's the worst airline I've ever flown."

Contras: "Delayed for two hours with no explanation"

Prós: "Not much"
Contras: "I had missing items when I landed back in Munich. The staff took clips off my bag and water bottle. They are climbing clips so they can't just fall off. I asked baggage representive and she said nothing they can do. So I lost 30 euro on clips. SO GERMAN. !!!!"
