Prós: I was only in Tokyo for two days. I have always wanted to see the City so I stayed as a long lay-over. I have traveled quite a bit and mostly stay at high end hotels. The room was amazing. It was large, clean and the bed was perfect. I think the one thing that stood out was the service. I mostly felt with the front desk manager Tetsuro Nakamura. Everyone at the hotel seemed to really appreciate their job and enjoy helping their guests.
Contras: Nothing comes to mind
Prós: Everything : breakfast, bed, room, the air even was nice and pleasant smelling. Location was perfect for work.
Contras: The staff were a little too friendly - I felt like I had to return a 'good morning' every 10 steps.
Prós: The Palace Hotel is just that... a contemporary palace complete with impeccable finishes, art, and service. The staff could not do enough for us from carrying bags, to creating itineraries, to attending to our every need with prompt attention and happy disposition. So kind and generous and anxious to please. Food and drinks were first rate and the concierge club level lounge put it over the top with intimate lounge overlooking the city, outside lounge area with couches and city views, and beautiful and kind service managers who served food and drinks and made arrangements for us all with a warm smile. The rooms are clean contemporary yet warm and impeccable with every convenience at the touch of a button. There is art throughout the rooms and hotel that make you stop and take notice at every turn. If you are lucky enough to get a corner room as we were we enjoyed city views and over looked the Emperial Palace Gardens. The view from the bathroom and tub were breathtaking. The hotel is connected by a beautifully finished underground tunnel with shoppes and restaurants to the nearest train station. This is clearly one of the finest hotels in the world. even if you are not staying here it's worth the time to see.
Contras: I travelled with my 25 year old son and although he enjoyed experiencing the best of the best, the location is a bit removed from the more active and younger areas to the west such as Shibuya, Roppongie, Harijuko and Shinjuku! if you're hanging in the high rent district you can't beat it, although I must say Harijuko has great shopping along pedestrian friendly streets! Am must see.
Prós: Rooms. Service.
Contras: Price is relatively high
Prós: The Palace Hotel was top rate. The staff were very helpful. The hotel was spectacular! Good location away from the city noise and beautiful details at every turn. Very expensive dining but superb food.
Definitely a 5-6 star hotel.
Prós: This hotel is located in the tallest building in Tokyo and it offers incredible views of the city! The rooms are breathtaking and I have never experienced such incredible, all encompassing service. The concierge offered us the best sightseeing advice and we had one of the most memorable dinners in their Japanese Michelin Starred Restaurant. Oh and there's a fantastic 24hr Grocery Store located in the super posh MidTown Shopping Center adjacent to the hotel. I have to also say that compared to other Ritz-Carlton Hotels I have stayed at around the world... this is by far the best of their Hotels properties!
Contras: What I didn't like was that we had to leave so soon...
Contras: i had booked a non-smoking suite. the room had clearly been smoked in - an air purifier was by the bed when i got to the room. not cool at all. the fact that there are still smoking rooms that can be 'changed' into non-smoking? plus, had an issue with business card request. hotel itself is beautiful but dealing with unexpected issues not very good-especially for the price.
Prós: Shuttle service to Disney land. Room spacious and very good cleanliness.
Contras: We booked four rooms (2 families) 4-5 months prior our arrival. The room arrangement given to us 2 rooms next to each other and the other 2 in different floor level. They aware each family going to occupy 2 rooms during our booking and yet they can't arrange the other 2 rooms next to each other or at least the same floor. Eventually the other family has to take the smoking rooms in order to stay next to each other. No smiling face from the male front desk staff.
Prós: Great rooms, with nice views. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Train station at the front door to the hotel. Big shopping centres next door.
Contras: Far from the main areas of Tokyo (Shinjuku, Shibuya etc) roughley a 30 min train ride. There is a train station at the front door to the hotel which is very conveniant but this is not a JR station so if you have the JR pass you can not use it here.
Prós: Housekeeping was good
Staff were mostly helpful
Near Shimbashi and Shiodome Stations
Amenities were good
Airport Limousine to Narita
Contras: At check-in we were told we needed to pay for a separate room as my mother and my sister together with me are considered too old to fit in one room with two double beds. They said a larger room would be available that could accommodate the three of us together the next day but we would have to pay an additional 330 USD per night of stay! Our flight landed 11 pm at Haneda by the time we got to the hotel it was already almost 12:30 am, we were exhausted! Renting an additional room also costed the same amount $330. That's the option we went with for at least a day. We then booked a second room online for the subsequent 5 days for only half the price they asked us for upfront. It made little sense from a business perspective if they had let us upgrade to a one bedroom that would release them of two smaller rooms that they can charge more for.
Internet is slow especially at night, can barely read the news.
Air conditioning was weak in one of our rooms, I was sweating a lot.
Prós: The JR Suite was amazing. Love the high floors and view of Tokyo Tower. Customer Service at the front desk was excellent. After we paid for the upgraded suite we were a lot happier.
Contras: Initial room was very small and they put us on the floor with the business and fitness area so people were in and out on that floor. Room was very very small where our 2 luggage would not fit. My GF kept on bumping her elbows into the shower door and the sink as there was no space in between for her to do her hair and make up. We had to upgrade to the JR. Suite at a very high price. The JR. Suite was an excellent room. We didn't need the living room area but it was a nice adder. What we were expecting was a bedroom similar to the JR suite bedroom but never got it on the regular booking.
Concierge needs to look into what he's doing more. We asked about the Robot Restaurant and see about making reservations for that Saturday Night. He booked the reservations but didn't realize that payment up front is required. When we go to the place we were turned away as it was full and everyone had paid in full prior to arrival. When I tried to explain to him I don't think he spoke English well enough to understand. I was not mad at him as we understand we are in another country with a language barrier.
Prós: Staff was very helpful. Easy access to a lot of places walking, taxi, or train (close to shinbashi and Shiodome station).
Contras: Breakfast was 25 dollars per person and did not include much. No good breakfast around.
Very surprised that English proficiency of staff was not that good.
Prós: Is there a star rating higher than five!? From the moment I arrived to check in after getting off of a cruise ship in Yokohama to the moment I checked out and said goodbye to the lovely staff in the lobby, I enjoyed every second of this incredible property. The views were luxurious, the rooms were definitely appointed, the club lounge and everything and anything I can need and more, and I will be racing back to Tokyo to stay here as soon as possible. I sale every luxury cruise line all over the world and this is by far the most hospitable luxurious stay I've ever experienced in my life anywhere in the world.
Contras: There's absolutely nothing I would change, it was sublime! And that's coming from a New Yorker who stayed in some of the best hotels in some of the best cities across the globe and in some of the most luxury suites on the most luxurious ships on the ocean.
Prós: Classic or dated, whatever your preference, but well maintained and spotless. Large rooms, for Japan. Staff is marvelous. Very close to the US Embassy and train stations. All staff speak English sufficient to get the job done. Booking through Kayak got a reasonable rate for Tokyo.
Contras: Couldn't control the heat in the room, which was 79F. WiFi connects but can be erratic on mobile devices. Food in the hotel is outrageously expensive, but a 2 minute walk gets you to reasonable options. Gym is excellent but there is a substantial extra charge to use it.
Prós: My November stay in Tokyo was switched from Okura Hotel to Sheraton Miyako Hotel, because Okura was demolished in May this year for a new hotel building to be reopened in 2018. So all the evaluations given here are for Miyako Hotel.
The hotel is excellent, very roomy and update. It offers all what a ordinary traveler needs and beyond. Its location is great right in the middle of several subway stations, only Meguro station and takaniwa station are within walking distance. But, scheduled hotel buses taking hotel guests to Meguro and Shinagawa station is an excellent way to help hotel guests move around.
Do your homework and find out what time the airport limousine bus can take you from airports to Miyako Hotel before you buy airline tickets. Because the bus schedule is very odd. I came to Miyako from Tokyo Haneda Airport, the airport limousine bus only runs twice in the morning and once in the late evening (Good for red eyed flight guests). If you come to the hotel any time between those schedules, you need to find out what is the nearest hotel or subway stations to Miyako the airport bus can take you to, then take taxi from there to Miyako.
Prós: I very much liked the authentic 50's modern hotel and interiors…in a great location in Tokyo near the American Embassy.
Prós: The facility was great, the staff was very helpful, and the property is right next to public transportation.
Contras: The food was pricey, there was no pool, and the district seemed more business oriented.
Prós: Hotel is connected directly to Shinegawa train/bus station and very near cafes, bars, shopping and convenience stores.
Hotel staff was professional and great with answering questions about travel plans, recommendations, etc. Hotel design modern yet still very Japanese aesthetic.
Prós: A instalação era excelente, a equipe foi muito útil e o estabelecimento está ao lado do transporte público.
Contras: A comida era cara, não havia piscina, e o bairro parecia mais orientado para negócios.
Contras: The interior of my room was quite old. The desk varnish was gone and the room was pretty smelly.
Prós: Very good location in the center of Shinjuku, about 10 minutes away from the train station and taxi service outside. Had an ATM and 7-11 attached to it. All the amenities a person could need, toothbrush, hair brush l, razor shaving cream, free bath salts for everyday I stayed. Shampoo conditioner and body wash smelled great. Shower and bath were awesome!
1rst floor breakfast was the way to go, 8th floor cafe was nice but had less variety than the other.
Staff knew English, and the concierge service was great for booking and easy airport limousine back to HND airport.
Very close to robot resturant and bars that are open 24 hours.
Prós: Convenient location
Cheap (for Tokyo)
Contras: Nearby redlight district
Very small rooms
Prós: O hotel é muito bem localizado
Contras: O interior do meu quarto era muito antigo. A mesa estava sem verniz e o quarto cheirava muito mal.
Prós: - Cleanliness
- Spacious Space
- Friendly Staff
- Shuttle to Shinjuku Station
Contras: - A bit far from Shinjuku Station by walking
- Underground (Metro) does not have full escalator (a bit difficult if carry lots of stuff)
Prós: Staff is extremely helpful with everything . I have requested to make a reservation at many famous restaurants and the concierge staff did a very professional job securing a seat for me . They have planned everything for me better than I have planned by myself .
