Rooms were lovely, staff friendly (but a tad forgetful at times), location not near nightlife, but if you're looking for a place to stay with character, this is it. Continental breakfast was the worst I have had in any hotel. I mean ever.
I have always loved this building, and nice hotel rooms for less than $150/night are in short supply in downtown Sacramento. The Sterling gave us outstanding value for a spacious room with enormous Jacuzzi bathtub and beautiful four-poster bed in a gorgeous historic Victorian era home. Check in and check out experience efficient and pleasant, with flexibility on a little extra time for check out. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends with caveats below. There is on the street parking but it is metered with a two-hour limit after 8am or before 6pm Mon-Sat, so you will get a parking ticket if you sleep in. The street gutter was filled with leaves, making it a little messy for shoes and luggage. There is a $16 city lot just a block away... But it is a block away. A valet service would be ideal. As other guests have commented, some room elements such as sinks are beginning to show signs of age, but they did not detract from the outstanding value of our room.
Clean, nice breakfast
The bed was comfortable. Great location. The breakfast food was good too. Where do I start? First receptionist was cold, she could of been more welcoming and smile! The blow dryer did not work in the room. We had a "do not disturb" sign in door, but the maids entered anyways (which should not of been entered!) and took all the towels. We had to go ask for towels. Very noisy parking lot and some one spilled a drink from the balcony all over our car.
Overall good stay: clean place, central location, and friendly staff.
It was close to the Convention center at a decent price. Clean. Poor parking facility. Even though I was given a parking permit, I still had to park my car on the streets.
The rooms were clean them from doing their jobs The elevator is on the stairs or only on one and so you have to pack bags for a distance of the breakfast was for
The location is the best part The staff the lady in the front was rude an has no manners or customer service
breakfast was excellent staff had trouble speaking and understanding english language.was within walking distance to everything to do sacremento...... big bins in alley being emptyed early every morning
Full breakfast, microwave and 'frig in room, computer and printer available, free wifi Security doors on stairs open out on the landing, backing you onto the stairs
Proximity to downtown and Old Sacramento is good, plenty of bars and small bistros in local area. Cheap, clean, free continental breakfast - ideal for weekend trip.
everything is comfortable.
I reserved a non smoking room, however, there were none available so I was stuck in a smoking room. I have severe allergies, and turning on the heater really stired my allergies up and made my stay very uncomfortable. I will never stay there again.
Nothing There is the stain on the sheet of the bed. I have asked to change the room but it is the same. Also, I found some insect coming out from the bed. For this one is rated for three star and the quality is less than a star.
Me and my boyfriend liked the location how it was close to down town.there's a fridge.a.c.was ice cold.shower was hot The smell of the room was strong. The lady at the front desk was rude.I think I got bit by need bites
Location was amazing and they cleaned the place top to bottom, including powerwashing the parking lot. Housekeeping staff was very friendly as well. The motel is a PokeStop as well! Would have been nice to have a continental breakfast, but that's really the only thing they lack.
The location is definitely in the heart of downtown. It is fairly close to a lot of Sacramento Landmarks. The room we received had a very distinct odor. When we asked to move to another room, the room also had the distinct but faint odor. We stuck it through. The TV was a bit crooked, but it worked for one night. Definitely not luxurious.
Convenient! Typical cheaper motel.
the TV but that went out every now and then. The hotel reviews say everything. There was no refrigerator and no microwave not even in the office. The TV and internet did not work.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The only thing good about this place is the location. I feel really duped by booking this. Your website said this was a 3 star hotel and this place was far from it. It's more accurate to be a 1 star maybe 2 but that'd be sorta pushing it.
Nothing Everything, there were steps and no elevator, people were clearly living in the parking lot, there was a low entrance clearance to the parking lot and a gate that could be opened but when i called the hotel wouldn't open it and the room was falling apart
Nothing, other than the fact that its location was somewhat close to the bus pick-up point for the California International Marathon. Most everything! At check-in they could not find my reservation. Had I not had my printout I would have been out of luck. Had to squeeze between one of the beds and the door to bathroom. Bathroom door paint badly chipped, would not close completely, etc
Place is ghetto room has roaches, theres no microwave like it says it does and management barely speaks english. I had to cancel my stay. It shouldn't even be posted here. I didnt like everything. Place is a trash.
The price and location Beds were too close together
