Prós: Super comfy bed and amazing bathrooms! Loved everything about this hotel!
Prós: Rooms were some of the nicest at any hotel we stayed in Ireland, restaurant and bar were top notch and the food was great; breakfast was also great. Parking included and very convenient. Business center with 2 computers and free printing. Very nice lounge area.
Contras: Location was out of the way if you want to do sight seeing, but it was close to the airport so perfect for us (we stayed there the last day of our trip). Bit of a wait for the business center computers, some of the other guests were using for non-business purposes - wish there was a sign that had a time limit or something.
Prós: This hotel is Dublin's gem!
It's perfectly appointed and well situated within a few minutes (very safe) walk to the attractions, city sights, public transportation, restaurants and tour companies.
The entire staff is helpful, knowledgeable and very professional. All their recommendations were spot on.
This hotel has my full endorsement.
Prós: extremely friendly staff
Prós: Was attending game at Croke Park stadium so location was excellent for that event. If I wasn't attending the game, the location wasn't good.
Contras: Rate was inflated too much for the game.
Prós: Staff went out of their way to help and were very friendly and professional. The rooms were luxurious and very well equipped, fantastic value for money. Far enough from the centre of town to enjoy peace and quiet but close enough to walk. When we come back to Dublin we will definitely stay here if it's available.
Contras: Nothing at all to dislike.
Prós: Fine hotel. Free printing was a good perk. Hotel bar and bar food was a decent and tasty value.
Contras: The location is suboptimal. It was not a safe walk from the downtown to the hotel at night or in the early morning. It is needed to take a cab from the hotel to the city center during those hours.
Prós: Super confortável cama e banheiro incrível! Amei tudo sobre este hotel!

Prós: 1st they are SO ACCOMODATING. Thanks to guest services, concierge DENNIS :-0 and the crew plus the front door attendants, managers, housekeeping are all amazing. Guest Service Rep came to greet us and had the goats milk avail for my daughter. In the USA we can only purchase at select store and did not realize it was more common to have in Dublin. We have made Dublin-the Shelbourne as our #1 headquarters. The quality of our stay, the fact they have vetted services for a nanny, great food, amazing polite service from all departments simply speaks volumes. Mr. Hanley and his staff at this fine establishment continue to amaze me. I really appreciate the peace of mind they bring to me and my little 1 and 2 year old children each visit. We surely feel special and love the amazing spacious rooms. THANK YOU ALL!! See you again next year.
Contras: I have only positive things to communicate. They can keep up the great work. Great food options, great concierge, guest services, housekeeping, food services.....blessings to you all!
Prós: Location is perfect but a bit overpriced for what you get. Room was a nice size and staff was very friendly. I think it is better without kids.
Contras: Overpriced a bit for what you get. Had to call to have room made up after being out from 9:30-3:0 during the day... I guess someone just forgot.
Prós: The staff was incredibly accommodating and pleasant.
Prós: The hotel is grand and no detail is overlooked. The breakfast was superb but still talking of the impeccable service. A perfect 10 all around.
Contras: When I arrived at 10AM, there was no room ready (understandable), but when I returned in the afternoon, I was shown to a room with a worker working on scaffolding directly outside my window. The second room was fine, but I was disappointed that the clerk had initially no problem assuming he could leave us in a room where we could all wave to a worker!
Prós: It was a gorgeous hotel - the breakfast was a bit pricey but it was lovely
Prós: Breakfast was insanely good, the best part of our stay.
Prós: The breakfast buffet was great with lots of options. The room was large and comfortable.
Contras: The hotel is within walking distance to all of the sights, but is about a 10 minute walk (depending on how fast you walk). We love to walk so the location was fine for us, but it felt far after a night in Temple Bar.
Prós: By the train station
Contras: There was no plugs for hair tools and phone charging
Contras: There was confusion too how many people we had in our party and had to pay an extra 30 euros and it took an extra long time to clear up the confusion after a long day of travel.
Prós: Staff was helpful and excellent. Rooms were very clean. Accommodations were up to date.
Contras: Triple room was somewhat cramped.
Prós: We loved the room, the views, the quiet, the location.
Close to the train station. The bed was so comfy!
Also right near the landmark pub Nancy's Hand.
The room design is outstanding!
The bathroom was huge!
We loved it here.
Contras: There had a been some flooding from outside and it went into the hotel lobby on the day we arrived and it smelled horrible it was most likely sewer water. he smell only affected the area by the front door and the smell was gone by the time we left two days later.
The hotel had professionals cleaners working on it as fast as possible.
We would stay here again. The flooding was not there fault.
Prós: Location,breakfast,bedroom was nice size
Prós: Friendly and accommodating staff. Comfortable room with a very nice view onto the front garden. Breakfast extravaganza. Very convenient to all Dublin attractions. We loved it. Highly recommend.
Prós: Breakfast was great
Contras: The water pressure was really low, everything took several flushes.
The surrounding area is great location wise, but at night it seems a bit rough. The hotel is very safe.
Contras: Lighting was bad for putting on makeup
Prós: Hotel is an excellent choice when visiting Dublin. It has excellent service, very clean, and good restaurant. Although it is not close to where most of the nightlife is there is an excellent local pub 2 blocks away and it is located on the local Luas light rail line which provides quick access to most of Dublin's tourist attractions.
Contras: Slightly removed from what they call City Center
Prós: It's location was a prime factor in our decision. Phoenix Park was very close by, as was Guinness and The Old Jamison Distillery. Right near the train station and tram stop so access the further parts of thecity and country were 5 minutes away. We'd stay there again.
Prós: The beautiful floors, lovely rooms with tea, hair dryer and iron and ironing board...all welcome when travelling. Our flight left early morning and because we would miss breakfast, they packed us a boxed lunch.
We did walk from O'Connell street and it is 20 to 30 minutes....but even with all our luggage it was fun.. A plus is that it is close to Heuston Sation and all excellent bus services. An unexpected treat for us was seeing The Dublin Zoo ( amazing) and The Pheonix Gardens....about 5 minutes away.
Contras: Staff were all very nice, but seemed like they needed training, particularly in the restaurant. Often no one attending the lobby, at check in, or concierge. On check out, no-one asked how was the stay, and not even to-go coffee available (which is almost standard expectation these days, even in lower quality hotels). Tried calling room service & was told they would call me back, after 10 mins I called them back to say don't bother. Breakfast is really expensive, supposed to start at 7am .. I wanted an omlette ... Was told by waitress that I needed "to ask the omlette guy" at the buffet , he didn't show up til 720am. I asked him if I could have toast with the omlette, he said "you need to ask the waitress" ... It was more Fawlty Towers than Four Seasons
Prós: Rooms were huge, staff was totally on point, the indoor pool was an unexpected benefit. Bar is busy most times, it's fun to hang out at the hotel.
Contras: Location isn't ideal for tourists. It's a 30-45 walk from most major destinations, and cabs are pricey. Otherwise, stay was perfect.
Prós: Location, location, location! Close to the harbor, shopping, restaurants, public transportation!
Contras: The Sea view from my room! The gym and pool!
Contras: The view was terrible. Too old. Would not recommend.
Prós: There wasn't much that I did like about the hotel. The coffee sitting area was convenient.
Contras: Room was dark, (not well lit) and small. There was no shower curtain. I paid for sea view room but could hardly see the water. They failed to inform me of my tour arrangement as requested by the tour director. The hotel was too far from Dublin Airport. As a first time to Dublin traveler I would not recommend this hotel. The bar seating arrangement was poor. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. They were over-priced for the service offered.
Prós: It was a short train ride from the city of Dublin. The hotel was very clean, rooms were large, and the staff was excellent. My wife and I felt very safe and was easy to get to and from city center.
Prós: Very clean and modern. Staff was wonderful. Only problem was not earning honors points because i booked through a 3rd party.
Contras: Non points rate. Property is a bit outside the city center
Prós: The hotel itself was very well presented, clean and the staff couldn't have done more to help you. Rooms were big with huge beds and very comfortable and warm. Restaurant was nice, and food was good.
Contras: We usually use public transport to get around and the hotel was a 10 main walk from luas (tram) stops and bus stops, although not far this added up over multiple trips. Would be much easier if moving around by hotel or your own car. The swimming pool is free but you must purchase a €2 cap and a €8 padlock which seems a bit tight. Not much in the surrounding area, and little choice of alternatives for food other than a trip back to the city centre.
Prós: Beds were comfortable.Hotel was not located near the City Center.
Contras: Wifi did not work in our Room. There was no Shuttleto or from Airport - Hotel. There was no Air controls inside our room, our Room was stuffy. Hotel was not near the City Center. V
Prós: Simple room. Much lower price then other hotels in Dublin.
Contras: A bit far (a lil over a mile) from the city center/things to do, but walkable or quick easy taxi ride.
Prós: As camas eram confortáveis.
Prós: I found the staff at this hotel extremely friendly and helpful. They were courteous and offered help and advice. I really appreciate good service and we got it at the Pearse hotel. The hotel location is a 15 min walk from O'Connell street which is great.
Contras: The pillows in the room were like concrete slabs. The room smelt of stale smoke. The cost of wifi was extortionate.
Prós: A comida no restaurante era muito boa.
Contras: Serviço mediano e indiferente.
Travesseiros horríveis, praticamente trapos
A roupa de cama era horrível
Prós: Beautiful hotel, comfortable bed nice bath very nice clean comfortable room with very friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again. The only thing its a bet pricy. The breakfast should have been included in my room rate and what I paid. Overall very good place to stay. Very nice renovated bathroom and room while remained the AA status of the hotel..
Contras: The breakfast was not included in the room rate I paid.
Prós: Great VALUE for being so well centered. Great walking to main drag on shopping, the park and about .75 miles to Temple Bar. Beds were comfortable and staff was attentive on needs.
Contras: They never cleaned our room for a two night stay had to ask for new towels. Quiet enough if you have a room in the back. Bit dated in common areas.
Prós: Fabulous value for the money. €52 for two people in a spotlessly clean double private room w bathroom. Right in Smithfield steps away from great restaurants, cinema, pubs cafes and live Irish Music. Right above the Jameson Brewery Tasting Rooms. Laundry facilities, on site pub and cafe and luggage storeage. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, warm and quiet. Felt very safe also.
Contras: Nothing. It was all good!
Prós: The staff here is absolutely wonderful and very friendly! You can ask for suggestions on places to go and things see and to do and they give out detailed descriptions on what you should expect to experience at each destination! The Night Staff was equally wonderful! To my surprise the night guards/security we're very friendly and helpful and happy to give good directions to near by places. The bartenders are cheerful, funny and have great suggestions for local restaurants and nightlife activities. The reception team is outstanding! They are warm and welcoming and available 24/7! They can help you with any delemas or concerns may come up during your stay. On my next trip to Dublin I will stay at the generator and the staff has a HUGE part to play in desire to book a room with the generator again!
Contras: The only things that I can complain about is the fact that the laundry room often has a line waiting because the dryers take too long to dry. Just for one load it can take up to two to three hours before your clothes become dry, but even then they may not be dry and this leaves people will still be waiting to take their turn while their clothespecially sit soaking wet. Also the bar could be open later.
Prós: Based on the price point we got it at, it was a great stay. We stayed in a 6 bed unit which was surprisingly comfortable.
The hotel bar was good, and great atmosphere while the Eurocup was on.
Overall the place was always clean, lots of staff around which was nice.
The demographic was crazy... People of all ages which was fantastic!
It couldn't be closer to Jameson.
Great bars and restaurants around it as well.
It's about a 15 minute walk to temple bar area.
10 minute walk to Guinness.
Contras: The bar as good as it is, a bit of a tourist trap... It shouldn't be €5-6 for a pint...
The rooms were hot as hell, the window barely opened and only at the end of stay did we find out we could request a fan...
Not much else to complain about.
Prós: Easy to feel included and apart of something as a solo traveller. The staff and environment in general make the hostel have a home like feel.
Convenient plugs and lights with every bed.
Good food at breakfast and for lunch/dinner.
Close enough to walk to city center, temple bar area etc but far enough that you feel safe because you don't have to deal with drunk strangers, and the loud streets of the city centre.
Contras: Beds were comfortable but creaked. Every time you turned or moved, the whole bed would creak and move.
Also it was very hot at night due to having a very small window in the room.
Prós: The hostel was very clean and well kept. Had a bar and cafe which made it much easy to find to find food and drinks. The food was reasonably priced. I don't see why I wouldn't use Generator again whether it was in Dublin or somewhere else.
Prós: I got upgraded to an all female ensuite room, which was fantastic, bright and big. All the bathrooms in the whole building were clean from what I saw, fantastic bar, friendly staff, loved my stay! Each bed came with a huge lockable storage box, if you didn't have your own lock they were 5 euro at reception.
Contras: The regular rooms were very small and cramped and windowless.
Prós: O albergue era muito limpo e bem conservado. Tinha um bar e café que tornaram muito fácil encontrar comida e bebidas. A comida tinha preços razoáveis. Não vejo porque eu não ficaria no Generator novamente, seja em Dublin ou em outro lugar.
Prós: Super Friendly & Helpful Staff - Plus the front desk person remembered my name the Next Day. What a great way to feel valued as a guest, well done!
Convenient Location, a block from the bus station was the best. From there I could drop my bags and hit the shops and sights, which started just one block away - Perfect!
They have a sauna, pool table, library and other lounge in the basement. It wasn't well advertised, as everyone seemed to be on the main floor.
Great security - Key cards for every floor and room.
Contras: Wi-Fi not available in all rooms, so they recommend all guests go to lobby to use wi-fi, which does bring a community feel, but still inconvenient not having it in all rooms.
Breakfast could start a little earlier for travelers who have early morning flights or plans.
Nightly movie advertised, but not available
Sauna available for only 3 hours, 1 for females only, 1 coed, 1 for males only. It was a little uncomfortable having just one naked old man in the sauna when I arrived, so I turned around and left.
Prós: The organization, staff, willingness to help, cleanliness, excellent
Prós: A organização, pessoal, disponibilidade para ajudar, limpeza, excelente
Prós: Location was good, airlink & hop on hop off stop just outside, Temple bar only 10 minute walk away, food was excellent, breakfast & lunch & evening menu, concierge was helpful, luxurious / boutique feel downstairs but not in the rooms, 12pm check out & breakfast till 11am at weekends was good.
Contras: Bathroom was dirty, lighting was poor in the rooms, shower was rubbish, reception was slow, messed up our key cards & we had to go back to a massive queue to get them authorised & reception thought it was funny but it was a waste of our time. Tea / coffee in rooms poor, rooms not 4 star, dirty windows, building work being done so noisy, the lift is so slow!
Prós: Location was convenient and pub was vibrant
Contras: Construction noise was extremely loud.
Prós: Location was good, staff was friendly.
Contras: Our room was dissappointing. Got a Deluxe room. No air conditioning so we had to open window. Very noisy being on the street. Room was small, bathroom was small and not very nice.
Contras: No air conditioning. Very hot at night
Prós: We stayed in one of the Georgian sweets which unfortunately didn't have an elevator but the concierge was amazing, from bringing out bags up to valeting the car to calling a cab for us to go enjoy the city. Beautiful room very comfortable bed and huge bathroom.
Contras: The only negative I would say was the service in the bar. We stopped in upon arrival to grab a quick bite to eat which did not end up being quick. It seemed like the staff was more interested in talking to eachother than helping us, and when I finally flagged the bartender down he asked us if we were in a hurry, not the kind of service you would expect from a hotel of this status. On the up side the food and drinks were great and we just opted for room service for dinner.
Prós: Location was great--close enough to walk to Temple Bar, Trinity College and many other points of interest. Staff was very helpful--upgraded our room without any trouble when we expressed our disappointment in our "superior" room. Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful and the one dinner we had there was very good.
Prós: The purple lobby and hallways are rather awesome. The breakfast set up is well done.
Contras: Garish, uncomfortable rooms located directly over a firestation where a fire engine runs 24/7. On a busy weekend, sirens go off regularly, pigeons fly in the window if you ppem it and the staff are harried.
Prós: Loved everything! Very comfortable. Great location! Staff & service in the hotel & restaurant were very attentive, pleasant, & just all around wonderful!
Contras: Not being able to adjust the air in my room... I'm always cool by nature. Extra blankets were provided!
