Prós: Cannot say enough about how great our stay was here! We extended our stay by a day we loved it so much. The prices were very reasonable. They checked us in 2 hrs early with zero hassle. All of the room supplies were included. While not exceedingly spacious, everything about the room and hotel oozed modern style. There was interesting literature on the shelves. The beds were clean and comfortable. In the lobby was a hip restaurant with delicious and affordable faire which we frequented almost every day, and at night became a popular bar until 1 am. There were many other places to eat, shop, or stroll past from the Hoxton's central location, but it was far enough removed from the main tourist areas to feel somewhat local. I would recommend this place to anyone except maybe those traveling with children, as I believe they had to "cheat" to fit us into a single room, and we are smaller than your average humans as it was.
Contras: My single room was tiny. It was impossible to see the television from the bed. In the evening, the lobby turned into a very crowded and noisy nightlife venue. Because of the crowd, it was difficult to get in and out of the hotel. Would never stay here again.
Prós: I hated to leave. Staff and facilities were outstanding. Room was beautiful and luxurious.
Prós: This is a luxurious hotel located in the part of the Amsterdam. The service, the food and the staff were among the best that we have ever seen. We would love to go back there again.
Prós: The service was amazing! Roland was the best concierge ever. He really made our trip fabulous! Everyone was so friendly
Prós: Room was spacious and bright. Bed was comfortable.
Contras: Room had odd shaped useless bedside tables. Counter was the only shelving facility in the room. Not enough for toiletries, phone/charger, wallets etc.
we ordered dinner in the room and had no where to place the dishes except if we removed our stuff or ate on our laps.
Most uncomfortable design. Hotel was located 15 minutes away from the charming city hub (on foot). Overall it didn't add any good impression to make it worth returning to.
Prós: Everything: decor, the room, the staff, services
Contras: not much in the immediate area but everything else is on 5 min away
Prós: The close proximity to the train station and central Amsterdam
Contras: Poorly designed rooms with ikea type furniture and cheesy gimmicks
Prós: Friendly staff, clean, modern. Location very good for tourists (close to Centraal Station, center of city)
Contras: A bit pricey, but really no faults.
Prós: Very modern, with a very bed and setting and very nice bathroom. Excellent value for the money.
Contras: The location is a bit out of the center.
Prós: I moly took off one star because they weren't very understanding of my accidental booking. Because of the change in time coming from the US, I booked for an extra day without realizing we actually get to amsterdam the next day!! They said because I booked through a third party they couldn't do anything but they could have given something complimentary to offset it. Of course it was my fault but still. The hotel was clean and they were very accommodating on the other hand, they help with booking events for you and give you a crib for a baby if you ask. They also have toothpaste if you forget yours and have European charging adapters to loan
Contras: Not understanding
Prós: Great staff, new modern and clean
Prós: Room,staff, view
Contras: No room-service, still Not every think ready
Prós: Three adults, including myself, stayed here a day before and after a cruise. The hotel was a great price and offered three single beds and a very large bathroom. Being from the U.S. with limited public transportation where I live, I did not realize that the tram is different than the train. We thought we could take the tram to and from the airport and port, but you need to take a taxi, so that was a little disappointing. The tram is an excellent way to get downtown, though. You pay right on the tram, 7.50 Euros for 24 hours. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions regarding navigating the city and helping answer a variety of questions. They even ordered taxi pick up for us.
Contras: No cotton washcloths
No alcohol on the premises
Limited dining in the area
Must take a taxi to/from airport or port, the train is too far to walk with luggage
The price the hotel quoted us for the taxi was incorrect. The taxi companies charged more.
Prós: Location is very good. In the heart of the city. Few minutes walk from the dam square.
Breakfast is very good and not too expensive.
Contras: Air condition is not working in the room.
Business rooms are in another building across the street.
Rooms are small and not too comfortable.
Parking costs 55 euros per day
The room is expensive comparing to any other such an hotel in Europe. I was expecting much more...
Prós: The business suite was very nice: great bedding, spacious. The staff were helpful. The lobby had electrical and usb outlets.
Contras: My room was in a construction zone accessible only by stairs!! And construction resumed right outside in the morning. They shouldn't put people there, or should start construction later in the day.
I also found it a little odd that there would be no usb jack in a business suite.
Prós: Superb location, friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable. A very good value.
Prós: People at frontera desk were really helpful, nice bar área rooms are modern and comfortable
Prós: Gorgeous interior in the heart of the old city. Breakfast was incredible and sumptuous. Staff are warm, friendly, and attentive. Location is fantastic.
Contras: 1. Heating was a major problem.
2. Parking is a nightmare.
3. Shower hot water not as hot as it should be.
4. Complimentary coffee in the lobby area is absent, though one can pay EUR 2-2.50 for a cup. Should be gratis.
Once this is attended to, this will be able to achieve deserved greatness.
Prós: Hotel was awesome!! Staying here was an awesome decision. Right next to a metro station, so instant access to city center and everywhere. Hotel was beautiful and everyone was wonderful. Many many amenities and great roof party!
Prós: The finishing touches here are very well and impressively done, and it makes your stay a real pleasure!
Prós: Terrific staff, lovely views of the river. Good location.
Contras: I chose the wrong date and they were very unhelpful with helping me change it around.
Contras: Unfortunately the hotel is next door to a city music facility and there were extremely loud pounding rave concerts from 9 pm until 6 am the next day. Despite being 15 floors above, the super loud base beat still penetrated the room until 6 am. Nothing the hotel could do but would advise avoiding Friday and Saturday nights if possible. Very close to a tram station for transportation to Centraal Station. Buy the 24 or 36 hour tram pass and once you learn the routes hop on and off at your pleasure.
Prós: This hotel is very close to everything. Conveniently located near Centraal station- the tourist and transport hub. Segway, bike shop and bike parking at hotel is a plus. Hotel itself is very modern- spacious, and boutique-like with friendly multi-lingual staff. Fitness and spa center are superb compared to 4 or 5 star hotels we've stayed in this summer elsewhere in Europe. Excellent restaurant menu. Main asset: the staff.
Contras: Internet service was intermittent during the week (hotel gave us credit back though). Cruise ship blares horn in the morning. Restaurant service could use some help.
Prós: Excelente equipe, linda vista do rio.
Prós: Room in renovated wing was close to street and loud but gave an excellent people watching view
Prós: The location is very central making it easy to get anywhere. breakfast is in a gorgeous winter garden-type room and the selection is very diverse. Staff were always helpful and accomodating.
Contras: I was on the first floor and there didn't seem to be a staircase that I could take to go one flight of stairs. It was annoying always having to wait for the elevator (which was insanely crowded) for such a tiny distance. Also, no gym which I expect in a hotel of this size and class.

Prós: The tram is right outside of the hotel. Very convenient for traveling to the train station. There was also a store that was close by as well.
Prós: Great staff, one not so friendly but hey! This is Amsterdam! The rest more than made up for her. Very clean. Very modern. Very COMFORTABLE. Transportation into city center was not bad at all with bus and tram station nearby and a main train station within a 12 minute walk. Pay for breakfast, pricey but worth it.
Contras: Everything was great, I plan to return and recommend to all my friends and family.
Prós: Location is awesome, ca. 20 mins to the old city with tram, tram station is just few steps away from hotel, if you come back late after 1:00 in the night, there is a bus connected
Breakfast is good, 15 euro is cheap for Amsterdam..
Contras: Actually no
Prós: Great rate (much less than hotels downtown) and included free breakfast, wifi and had friendly helpful people who all spoke English.
Contras: We did not realize that we would have to take a tram to the downtown part of Amsterdam where everything was located. If arriving with suitcase from train station, go out the BACK door of Central station and then go down stairs below and look for Tram 12 to get to hotel (2 stops) If not, it's a 10 min walk but a bit tricky initially to find. To go to the Airport, we had to take Tram 12 to Central Station and then the Train 1 stop to the airport. To go to the area of Amsterdam where most of the museums were, we had to take Tram 12 (near hotel & comes frequently) and then change to Tram 6. Since we were there for only 2 days we'd rather just step outside of our hotel and be in walking distance without public transportation. The hotel is basically in suburbia. (About 15 min or so into the City though.) The only option for dinner is their $29 buffet. There is a restaurant 5 min away, Cafe Pistau though that is excellent).
Prós: The staff was friendly & helpful we had a tram stop 5 minutes from the hotel that takes you to central Amsterdam you can buy day passes right at the Hotel. The breakfast bar was good but it's not cheap the same goes for the dinner. We ate in small cafes while touring Amsterdam it's a lot cheaper that way.
Contras: No washcloth in the bathrooms they don't use them in Amsterdam so bring your own.Parking was 15 euros per day unless you can find a spot outside.
Prós: We've been traveling to different parts of Europe and the Park hotel had the most comfortable bed we slept on during our travels. The location is absolutely perfect. Max 10-15 minute walk to most attractions.. Anne Frank House, red light district, museums, casinos, cafes, parks.. Most were only 5 minutes away.
Prós: Next door to museums and across the street from canal, cruises and casino
Very helpful and professional staff and excellent restaurant on site (MOMO).
Clean, well appointed room of adequate size.
Contras: Road traffic could be heard but not a significant negative
Prós: The location is perfect. We recieved a warm welcome upon arrival, and was please try suprised at the accomodations. The bed was very comfortable, view perfect, and the room size would meet or exceed any standards. Literally the best location for a brief walk to vo delpark, museums, de hallen, red light district, and tram stops.
Contras: There is no pool, but for us we didn't care. The lobby was warm, as is standard in most of holland, but rooms are well air conditioned.
Prós: Cleaning staff was nice.
Contras: Water leaked from my ceiling onto me in the middle of the night. managenent was totally unhelpful.
Prós: Location and staff were great. Breakfast although pricey was huge! Very decent! Very clean and comfy bed. Room was modern although the "non-divided"/private bathroom may be an issue to non-couples.
Contras: Some of the toiletries where empty.
Prós: - Proximity to Amsterdam's famous museums
- Comfort of the bed
- Size of the bathroom (we got a handicapped room)
- Availability of luxurious toiletries
- Clean, well-kept rooms
- Friendly staff
- DELICIOUS hot chocolate
- Free, reliable wifi
Contras: - Room itself was a little small
- Cleaning staff arrived at 8am
Prós: From a tourist perspective the location of this hotel is very good indeed, it is just metres from the great galleries and Vondel Park, and close to Jordaan. The #197 trolley bus around the corner opposite the Van Gogh museum takes you to Schiphol in 30 minutes for 5 euro (pay as you get on), every 1/4 hour, and trams #2 and #5 take you to the main railway station.
Despite being on the relatively busy Stadhoudekade street, the hotel is quiet. The rooms are clean, very comfortable, slightly but not overly cramped, idiosyncratic in design, with air conditioning that works.
The staff are intelligently helpful, switched on, and very pleasant. I think that is a Dutch thing anyway.
I took the 'with breakfast' option. I recommend it.
All this comes in at about $210/night per room including taxes. There are plenty of cheaper places around but if you are in Amsterdam for a couple of days and want a faultless, quiet, reliable, central place to stay, this is a good candidate to consider, and worth the money if you have it.
Contras: The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the Momo restaurant that is attached to the hotel. It is a Sushi only restaurant, so if Sushi is not what you want, too bad. We ate there one evening and while the Sushi itself was no doubt excellent, it was expensive for what it was - as in my opinion Sushi tends to be. If you like a rank of chefs attending minutely to each bite, and lots of pretty waitresses regularly asking if you need anything, or don't really mind about the cost, that's fine, enjoy it and pony up liberally at the end. Otherwise, don't come to this place too hungry, or with kids, this one is for the up-market purists. There are better places nearby, serving quality food of other types for quite a lot less.
Prós: Location is great.
Standard rooms are a bit small but great for a couple.
Staff is very professional.
Concierge is great with recommendations
- quartos limpos e bem conservados
- Os funcionários simpáticos
- chocolate quente delicioso
Prós: A localização é excelente.
Os quartos standard são um pouco
pequenos, mas ótimos para um casal.
A equipe é muito profissional.
O concierge é ótimo com recomendações.
Prós: The building itself was lovely, very gothic with a cozy feel. The breakfast was excellent, make sure you get it included in your original price. The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! We kept drinking our mini wines in the double bath tub every night. Great location, across the canal from central station. A great choice for our honeymoon stay.
Contras: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.
Prós: Great location, friendly staff
Contras: The room was incredibly stuffy as there was no A/C. We couldn't open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Would never had booked here if I knew I would get about 2 hrs of sleep per night. The price was decent but now I know why!
Prós: Close to everything including ships
Prós: Unique hotel
Prós: The Hotel Amrath is a jewel among luxury hotels--beautiful architecture inside and out; clean, spacious comfortable rooms; great accommodating staff; and centrally located so one can walk everywhere. Don't miss the gorgeous pool and spa.
Prós: A different and positive Amsterdam experience. Great location and facilities.
Prós: The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It's important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. For example, the elevators could be quite awkward and I cannot imagine how the floors are handicap accessible. That said, the bathrooms were brand new and quite nice. And finally, they throw in a full, FREE mini-bar.
Contras: It's a bit expensive, and going up and down stairs can be annoying with luggage.
Contras: A bit out of the way from the heart of the city.
Prós: When I booked this hotel I told my husband I wasn't sure he was going to like it. Boy was I wrong! It was perfect! We were on our honeymoon and upon check in we were upgraded to a nicer room and given multiple free drink tickets. The staff is extremely friendly and really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and taken care of. The steam room and sauna were wonderful. After exploring the city all day we would get in a quick workout in the gym, sit in the sauna and relax before heading to bed. The bar was pretty busy all 3 nights we were there but they were also hosting a Nespresso Conference so i assume most of the people were from that. It's a quick 10 min to Central if you get on the M51. About 1/2 mile walk to metro from the hotel. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying here upon our return to the Netherlands!
Contras: I was allergic to the soaps they provide and ended up with a rash. :( Bummer. Also the breakfast at the hotel restaurant was not good. Over priced with terrible eggs and soggy bacon.
