It filled my need of a one night stay outside Hamburg. Not really a complaint, but the address given for the hotel took my satnav up a woodland road which is 100 metres before the hotel's entrance
Large hotel in the wooded, hilly countryside of Hamburg. Great views from the full restaurant during sunset (and to be even better as the owner plans to top some trees blocking the view of Hamburg). Ample free parking. Good place to hold receptions, conferences, etc. Location is great if you want to be in the woods, but not so great for city excursions. The hotel is not near a train station, but the nearest station has free parking. Although the staff were patient with the difficulties, English is not widely spoken. Pool was not open.
A peaceful location with great views from rooms and restaurant. My room was clean and comfortable with a good bathroom The hotel is very large and the layout is not clearly recognizable. Therefore, getting to your room can be a bit of an adventure. Too many steps with no lift facilities make it difficult if you have much luggage. The large terraces were not accessible from the rooms on my floor and looked poorly maintained with weeds growing between tiles. The garden areas around the hotel look somewhat neglected.
The view and the buffet breakfast. A slightly surreal experience. Know the hotel from when it was smaller - now it's a giant maze catering for conferences. Lighting needs to be better on some stairs. Outside areas need attention - somewhat dilapidated. Staff could be more, how shall I put it, 'proactive'?
