Location was a key to my stay, and i usually stay at a nearby hotel that was booked out so staying at the Grand Chancellor was a pleasant alternative
The hotel was lovely. Nice and central to all the events going on over the weekend and the city centre for shopping. The pool was lovely and In can't wait to stay again! The complimentary newspaper at the door when I woke was a nice touch as well.
Staff were fantastic, and the new Restaurant had a great seafood platter. Suite room was very comfortable and handy for city access, right across the road for adventure cruises.
Very central and within walking distance from CBD Parking garage entry can be improved. Had no indication where to put my access card in. Would help to have a flashing light such as at ATM's
Convenient to conference
The location of the hotel was the best. Swimming facilities were neglected, it did not appear very clean and most of all the whole area was very cold, no heating in the room, it felt like being almost outside, especially in August, it discouraged us from swimming despite the fact that it was the main reason of choosing the hotel.
Spacious room, all the expected amenities.Room had a work desk which was a bit wasted on us as we were on holiday. Everything worked ok. The hotel is well located to the city centre and the sea front. Tv, although in good working order, looked a bit dated. Perhaps the hotel should invest in flat screen, wall mounted tv'S.
The captivating and entertaining harbour views, the exceptionally thoughtful and friendly staff, as well as the delightful and comprehensively varied full buffet breakfast and efficient room service. The 2 day parking charge relating to a 1 night stay. However, this is a minor issue.
Our booking was incomplete upon our arrival but, with a little time, our concerns were professionally handled and as a result we had an extremely comfortable stay.
Only stayed one night but the service was great.
Situation is ideal for touring Tasmania. Nothing specific
The hotel staff were very diligent in making sure your stay was a pleasing one. All the facilities were first class and everyone at the hotel were very friendly. The breakfast options were a little pricey. There was only one restaurant offering breakfast, or in room service, which was for the same price. I also wasn't impressed with the quality of food on offer at the restaurant for the price.
I was totally unawared that the wrest pt. was a casino/hotel. The web site was not cleared on that point. I would not have booked it if I knew that I was a casino. I am not a gambler.
People, casino and the fact it was not in the middle of town. We had a great time in Tasmania, our first trip, and will definately be back. We found there was such an array of foods to select from, restaurants, that we did not go into the city once to eat. Thanks and we will be back
The quality of the food was excellent The rooms and standards of the room against the price we payed
The location and the wonderful views of the Derwent River. Good and safe place to stay in Hobart for a solo traveller. Access to the Casino and late night opening of facilities. Staff welcoming and well trained.Cabs available at door. Some of the food outlets not up to a 5* standard. Overpricing of some hotel facilities. Facilities a bit dated. Tv needs to be updated. Rooms could be modernised a bit.
Special thanks to Christopher at reception on check out. To the house keeping staff member that responded to an issue I had with my room 1505 - AA - sorry i didn't get your name but you deserve an excellence award.
It was in a beautiful spot and close to the city. Great restaurants and service
the location of the hotel was excellent the decor of the hotel needed updating, it had an 80's feel to it and the room was not very inviting
The convenience of the location and the fact that it had a reasonably equipped gym. The rooms could have been a bit more up-to-date. The looked a little dowdy.
Convenient to all amenities, the room was wonderful, quiet&better than expected.
Easy efficient breakfast arrangements
Location. Close to city and shopping. Comfortable and clean room. The loss of the carpark next door! Having to pay extra for valet parking. Not being able to access my car easily without going through reception! Noisy guests in early hours of morning. A school formal that blocked up the hotel foyer and valet parking area right on dinner time when guests were trying to move in and out of the hotel!!! There was also a tour bus parked in this area! Crazy!!!
Quiet and rooms were very clean
staff are good and helpful location is not so great
Location, service I would like to see a fan to ventilate the bathroom(toilet)
Staff were helpful and it was quiet. Our room smelt of cigarets.
Deluxe rooms are spacious with the extra dining/loungeroom Was expecting a modern room and it was old and rundown, for the money I was disappointed. The spa was only half the size of a normal bath as well so had to sit up in it... Expecting a spa in a deluxe suite to be able to relax in and layback.
Good breakfast buffet served from 6.30am. Plenty of space in the room. Friendly staff.
It was within walking distance to all things in the city, very comfortable and great value for money.
Staff were very helpful. I arrived at around 8:45 pm, and I was told that the kitchen was closed.
I loved the traditional decor and the old world charm
The location. The open fire in the lounge. The air conditioner in our room was inoperative.
The staff were excellent and the hotel was interesting. The room was very comfortable.
the staff went above and beyond to make my stay great. so friendly and helpful in every area. carparking was short, but they did give me alternatives which was great
Location - it was in the heart of the city and walking distance to the harbour-front, Salamanca Place which made it very convenient. View from the windows - from the 4th floor we could not see outside because windows were either facing skywards, or they were at waist level and we had to crouch to look outside. Even then, the view was blocked because building features where right in front of window. Also TV's were old tube style - in this day and age we expected to have at least a 42" flat screen....
We enjoyed the location of the hotel because it was very easy to get around. I felt the word "superior room" was very over rated, I felt like it was no more than a standard room. The mat in the shower/bath was discusting I would expect to see that standard in a hotel in the back of Australia. The cups were not washed and someone had used the sample bottle of moisturizer and put it back. The tables in the foyer had definetly not been wiped down for quite a long time as there were glass marks and dirt all over it which was very obvious when the light was on it.
A beautiful carefully renovated building, with a lovely ambience, and friendly and relaxed staff.
The location and comfort of the apartment including the size and self catering facilities. There was only one mirror in the whole apartment and also the lack of sheer curtains on the windows which would have been helpful with privacy. Our apartment faced houses across the road which were on the same level.
Convenient to central Hobart and sights
Close to such treats at the harbour and Salamanca Market The shower has no lip and splashes wet the entire bathroom floor.Interestingly the Launceston Leisure Inn has the same shower but there is a lip around the base.
It was in a very central position in the city walking distance to every thing; free car parking; very clean modern rooms; quick check in and out. Did not receive a tourist map of the city, need more information on the city of Hobart. Car park to small for the number of people staying, no air conditioner only fan and it took up valuable space in the room may be put in roof fans or wall fans as room lacked air so you really needed it on.
Loved Angie. She was so helpful. We were originally placed in a room near the elevator (which was under construction). She helped us move (and because we were in a hurry and needed to leave the property quickly, she even moved our belongings and luggage for us). we came back to a new room with all our things nicely laid out and very nice gift with a note to apologize for the original inconvenience. Very kind and professional. We called the desk at 2:30 am more than 5 times and no answer. Night staff could use some help staying more alert.
The personalised service by the manager The cost of parking. Difficult to recommend untill renovations completed
The Leisure Inn Hobart on Macquarie was well kept, clean, modern and central. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. The facilities in the room were in perfect working order and of a high standard. Unexpectedly, there was even a fridge and a microwave in our room. It is just a small thing, but we were charged $2 to leave our luggage at the hotel for a few hours after we checked out in the morning.
Nice room, good facilities though not a big room. Free parking. No wi-fi
Ease of location The room was hot and stuffy even with the air con on, and didn't like the way the whole bathroom floor got wet when using the shower.
Clean, affordable, friendly staff It was hard to adjust the temperature in the shower, from too cold to too hot with no in between.
Location, friendly staff and housekeeping were all good. Showers need updating and breakfast should be inluded as standard.
Good location and easy to get to most places in Hobart. Comfortable bed, fridge in room, flat screen tv. 100mb of free internet Breakfast (additional charge) on first floor was a convenient hot buffet with many options. No safe in room. Elevators/lifts are under renovation (as of Feb 2016). Only one was operational which meant it took a long time. Stairs were a much better option. 100mb of free internet goes pretty quickly
It was close to my head office. It struggled for parking space as there are insufficient spaces, the rooms were quite small in comparison to what else is available for the price and the bathroom needed maintenance as fixtures fell off the walls.
A very pleasant hotel, close to all facilities. good rate, our room 604 was better. we were in room 901, outside the lift coming up and down from 5.00am in the morning, bang, bang, bang, each floor stopping. we made a change for the next night.
The people were nice and riendly. The room was undertsanding and close to the airport which good as we arrived late.
Excellent staff waiting for us even though our flight was late
The staff were great. There were no hassles, very nice rooms and very reasonably priced in comparison to most other hotels in the Hobart area. No parking headaches, plenty of room. Close to the airport, easy to get into Hobart via highway. It was also easy to head to Port Arthur. N/A
Spacious rooms, modern decor. None
Can't go wrong with the location. Right near the Salamanca Market, the MONA ferry, restaurants, bars, even the MOFO Festival (which I wasn't in town to attend)... The room I stayed in (Room 1) was DIRECTLY over the bar and overlooked the sidewalk where bar patrons hung out all night. I am NOT a light sleeper, but this was a tough couple of nights even for me. The bar sing-a-longs were frequent and boisterous and the live music was quite loud. The room itself was barely a step up from a hostel--not that I've ever stayed in one, but everything (furniture, bed coverings, carpets, etc.) was shabby and seemingly second-hand. I didn't do much researcher for alternatives in Hobart because the Customs House seemed so
Very comfortable and quiet. we booked the Mountain room but only for availability as we hadn't stayed before. We ended up in a garden view room which was delightful. At this time of year, (Spring) we would request it again. We didn't dislike the restaurant, but preferred to visit a variety of other places to dine.
The atmosphere, location in relation to convenience to city and Salamanca, restaurants etc. I have booked many company guests because of that over the years. For booking on line this time, it cost me and my guest an extra $65.00 each per night as opposed to calling direct. This will not happen again. Having stayed over 100 times in the past 30 years it was disapppointing that the receptionist would not to take that into account.
Loved our spacious room and especially the view. we rested often in hotel room, tea coffee and biscuits poor. We had to ask for gowns they we not in the room but were happily given them on asking
Convenient Location: proximity to city, selection of excellent restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. The hotel's own excellent restaurant, Alexander's, and the beautiful view of the harbour. No. Except for the hideous ugly old floor tiles in the bathroom. The bathroom, however, was spotlessly clean and well maintained, just old and outdated.
Location perfect.Accomodation very comfortable.Noise factor excellent.Room spacious enough and cleaned beautifully.Definately will go back
It was well located near the Salamanca and waterfront areas. Quiet despite a pub opposite being very busy one night. It was one of the blandest, plainest room I have ever stayed in - reminded me of a student hall of residence. Not a place to linger- but functional.
we are regular patrons of this hotel. It is ideally situated for a visit to Hobart.
I liked the location and it wasnt far to walk in to the centre of town. There were great places to eat near by.
This hotel has poor ventilation, It was stuffy. I suspect it has "Sick Building Syndrome" a condition where carbon dioxide, paint and plastic emissions acculmulate due to poor ventilation.
Very easy and quick to access rooms from the streetfront. Very quiet compared to most hotels. Very close to the waterfront and to the restaurants at Salamanca.
The bathroom facilities were great, beds were comfortable, there was no noise from the outside despite being close to night spots. Staff were exellent and very helpful. Nice big room even with three people. Tried to park the morning before, rang up to confirm and was told it would be fine, but at that time of the morning the only parking available were metered spaces. Not a problem for me but might be for an elderley couple.
Its proimity to my conference venue
Central to all that we wanted to do and see
Good position, close to Salamanca Place, the harbour and the concert hall. I wish a single room was half the price of a double.
Locality to the city and surrounds
Very close to the shops and resturants Was quite noisy eg outside and internal with people backing doors...was surprised when we were charged for a $3.50 can of coke and sent a receipt that cost you 60cents to send it to me even after we had just spent $2050.00 for 3 nights......maybe next time you might waver the $3.50 can of coke..............:-( if it was a bottle of wine sure go ahead..!!!!
Handy for Salamanca end of town. Disinterested receptionist on arrival. Minibar contents had been tampered with and obviously not checked by staff (although this was rectified promptly when pointed out). Antique TV in room, and I don't mean in a good way.
Easy access to all Hobart delights and sites.
It was central to most thinks Had trouble sleeping a little noisy at night and bed very hard. And the shower was pretty poor
The only positive I can say is that it was close to Salamanca. Certainly felt it wasn't value for money. Felt very isolated as reception was across the road & we were the first room after entry.
