Prós: This is a beautiful hotel in an elegant old building that was completely redone to creat the hotel. Courteous and helpful staff. Concierge services were excellent. Rooms are large and well furnished. Ten minute walk to the Jaffa Gate of the old city. Breakfast was included and was excellent.
Contras: I-PAD provided in the room for hotel services never worked, even with repeated calls and IT requests.
Prós: Location is great. Well appointed rooms
Contras: Service and staff attention on shabbat. Especially if we pay full price!
very expensive for what you got - small rooms with a big glass walled bathroom. one small bottle of water in a room for 2 and no access to minibar - did not make sense. when I complained, the front desk told me that the design was intentional.
Prós: beautiful looking. great location in Jerusalem. breakfast buffet was very nice with a lot of different foods.
Contras: not at all user friendly. poor lighting in room. bathroom is all glass so no privacy unless you know how to frost the walls! internet free but not so good. cleaning staff did not speak English and just walked into the room whenever they wanted!
Prós: Comfortable room, excellent location. Nice breakfast. Immaculate. I would highly recommend it if you are planning to visit the old city. Not great if you have small kids in tow - no run around space.
Contras: There was some construction in the lower lobby and it was chaotic and hard to find the front desk. But once you stumbled around the dust and shambles of the first floor and figured out you had to go upstairs -- and located the hidden elevator -- it was fine.
They do a great job of coaching you to not use sites like priceline or booking.com and basically beg you to give them a high rating and I see why. This hotel should be a three star. As an american traveling all the time this place fell flat on its face. I also never take the time to write reviews but after seeing this place rated so highly by a trustworthy site like priceline I just cant help myself.
Prós: The History of the hotel was the most interesting part of the experience at the KD.
Contras: The service staff at the front desk and in the restaurant where we ate breakfast couldn't have been anymore atrocious. They were rude and completely unhelpful. I should've stayed at the Mamilla or the American Colony. I was very underwhelmed.
Prós: An excellent staff made our stay particularly nice. We made a couple unusual requests and the professional staff at the American Colony stepped up without hesitation to provide for our needs. We hesitated before booking in this location but found it to be very welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast provided was also fantastic and diverse even by Israeli big breakfast standards. Our only less than stellar comment is that the selection of books and literature in the gift/book shop is very one sided and partisan. This shouldn't have been totally surprising but given the excellence and absence of political statements everywhere else it became noticeable. A great hotel.
Prós: Location is prime (near old city), good picturesque restaurant (Arabesque) and summer bar, nice pool, good choice of TV channels. Good staff albeit sometimes appearing a bit inexperienced.
Contras: Tapware difficult to moderate (hot/cold, quantity/flow of water), towels not so plush, amenities in the bathroom subpar (smell [like disinfectant], wrapping soulless), business center not open 24/7 as indicated without explicitely having to ask, pool opening hours (only until 18.00).
Prós: The rooms and architecture. Felt like old Jerusalem vs. modern hotels.
Prós: Hila at the front desk was exceptionally helpful getting us a hotel reservation at our next stop in Israel going so far as to find details on line and then call the hotel directly to ask questions and verify the details. Neal the bellman was very friendly and helpful.
Outstanding view of the Old City out of both the bedroom and bathroom windows! Great breakfast. Shabbat key. Less than 20 minute walk to the Kotel.
Prós: However there was no concierge at the Dan in Jerusalem
And there was one available at the Dan in TA. That was helpful as the staff in Jerusalem did not seem to be knowledgeable
on info re: dinning out.
Prós: very good breakfasts
Contras: hotel needs an internet room, where visiters can use the hotejs computer, keyboard etc
Prós: Front desk staff very kindly allowed us to check out late the day of our plane -- 8 pm. Thanks!
Breakfast was very good.
Lobby lounge is very nice.
Contras: Most of the staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. Our rooms were barely made up (wet towels left on floor). Air conditioner took a long time to get room cool. Rooms are very small. No concierge.
Contras: The staff, for the most part, wasn't helpful. For example, it was a cold night, and when I called downstairs and told them the heater was broken--even the lowest setting made the room unlivable--the staff's response was to open my window. It was raining heavily with strong winds that night, so I pushed the staff person further, who finally sent up a portable radiator. The sheets on the bed were torn. The bed wasn't made adequately, so that I couldn't fit my body into the bed. The shower glass wasn't sealed, so that water leaked all over the bathroom. Several staff at the front desk were unfriendly.
Prós: Good location - 5 - 10 minute walk from King David hotel and Mamilla square which leads right to Jaffa Gate. Extensive breakfast buffet.
Contras: Rooms a bit dated. Terrible wifi but much of Jerusalem not much better. No grocery/convenience store nearby.
Contras: Room was not clean. Was approached in lobby by panhandler demanding money.
Prós: I was very surprised. My room was very big, clean and quiet. There was a mini fridge and private bathroom/ shower. The food restaurant in hotel is also very good and desserts are awesome. Surprisingly, the hotel is only 7 min walk to north gate of City. It is in Arabic part of City, but I found all the little shops interesting and people kind. The biggest plus to me wet hotel staff, they made the stay so easy and the front desk spoke very good English. The front desk lady "Nirvana", is incredible helpful for providing travel advice and help with any tour bookings you want make. I was surprised they always remembered the names of their guests!!! Great stay. Would stay here again
Contras: Quarto não foi limpo. Foi abordada no lobby por mendigo exigentes dinheiro.
Contras: We went there for the holiday we had a great stay great service very clean would definitely go back next year when we visit Jerusalem
Prós: Great location, newly renovated, rooms attractive and comfortable.
Contras: Bathroom could have been cleaner
Prós: Location was great. It was fairly clean. Rooms were decent size.
Contras: They were doing construction so there was always lots of construction noise and dirt all over from construction. The elevators were in construction as well so never more then 1 elevator was in use for the whole two weeks I was there and that was a pain. They advertise 4 star but it was more like a 3 star American standards.
The staff were not as friendly as they could have been.
