Prós: The view, and especially the ONLY balcony in the hotel. Free Murano tour with private water taxi both ways.
Prós: A vista, e especialmente a única varanda do hotel.
Prós: Situated in a more residential part of town - but only 10 - 15 min walk to all main attractions this hotel was awesome. Staff were ridiculously friendly. Place is like a 5 star hotel. Completely renovated - all high tech switches in the rooms.
Extremely cheap for what you get.
Will be only place I stay in Venice from now on!
Prós: Excellent service by very professional staff who were extremely helpful with all our needs. We had special religious needs on Saturday and the staff was very cooperative. The atmosphere was very special in this boutique hotel in Cannareggio area of Venice on the canal. Absolutely peaceful and serene atmosphere that made us forget all everyday concerns. We highly recommend staying here and we will definitely stay here again this summer when we return to visit Venice.
Prós: My husband and I recently stayed at the Ai More d'Oriente for 4 days and 3 nights in December 2014 and loved it. Here's what we loved:
LOCATION - The location was perfect... close, easy access to the vaperatto's (Venice's water taxis) as well as a short walk to the city center.
STAFF - The staff was super helpful, friendly and accommodating.
AMENITIES - Free wi-fi and breakfast.
ROOMS - Comfortable, clean, nicely decorated rooms. The rooms are small but 1. that's to be expected in Europe and 2. We didn't come to Italy to stay in the room so the size wasn't an issue for us.
Overall we felt we got an excellent value for what we paid. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Contras: The breakfast was a typical European breakfast. The coffee was excellent but the food options were not to our liking. However, it I free so not a big deal for us.
Prós: Staff were very helpful and friendly. We received excellent recommendations for restaurants. Super convenient location right next to mestre station.
Prós: The breakfast was surprising - - many choices. The rooms were simple but well-equipped and very comfortable. Being just across the street from the train station was a huge plus for us.
Prós: Location (across the street from the train station, a 4 minute walk to the bus station)
Located in Mestre and a 7 minute train ride to Venice
Hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating
Room was large
Contras: Weird shower/bathtub design made showering a bit difficult to avoid splashing water on the floor
Prós: Smelled nice. Looked clean. Wifi. Reasonable room size. Staff took bags to our room.
Contras: They put us in our room before it was ready, so we got kicked out for a bit while the staff finished up preparations - this happened after recommended check-in time
Prós: Probably the closest 5 star hotel to St Mark's Square.
Contras: 1st night in hotel, shower did not drain and flooded the whole bathroom floor. Had to call for someone to come up and drain the shower. He ended up pulling out a big wad of hair the size of my fist.
Prós: Was great .great customer service ..
Prós: The Location is perfect. The staff was, for the most part amazing. The room was well appointed. The restaurants were definitely 5 star calibre
Contras: The concierge's were rude. They did not smile or even acknowledged me as I left and returned to the hotel. I was surprised, because when I stayed a the Metropole last year, this was not the case. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything
Prós: The staff and facilities were great. Food for breakfast also very good. The bar and restaurant are both very good!! Great service. Great quality. And ask for Vincenzo in the restaurant. He's awesome! He and all the staff work hard and together to make your experience special.
Prós: The perfect place to stay while visiting Venice! Close to everything, wonderful staff who went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. We felt completely spoiled! Wonderfully romantic room and delicious breakfast in the morning...would definitely stay again!
Prós: Unusual. Helpful staff.
Contras: Wifi limited. Facilities need updating.
Prós: Location was absolutely perfect.
The restaurant staff were amazing!!!
Contras: However, I wasn't too pleased with much else considering how much I paid for the room.
The room key is unnecessarily large.
Prós: Incredibly helpful staff and speak quite good english. Very clean and interesting architecture. And Mirco in the bar makes a killer White Russian. Definitely recommend this place
Contras: Staff was not friendly nor attentive. The bed was old and had a broken spring.
Prós: Very easy walking distance to everything. Breakfast was included in our stay. Champagne was served on Sunday. Great variety of foods to select from and coffee was amazing. The view of the Grand Canal cannot be any better.
Contras: Hotel room key and safe were old world.
Prós: I stayed at the Casanova Suites which adjacent to the Bauers and for a family of four was great!! The location is just the greatest. The rooms were huge and they offered everything including 2 bathrooms!!! If you are traveling with young adults and spending time in Venice, this place is it. It was not cheap and it shouldnt be but well worth it!! Your on the main canal and yds from St Marks square. I will recomend it to my friends.
Contras: Needed more TV sets in the bedrooms.
Contras: Internet and telephone net were very weak
Casanova side was not good to stay
Prós: Luxury hotel
Location in the heart of
Service was 5 star
They helped us book museum tickets, dinner reservations etc
Concierge Raphaela was just amazing
Contras: No negatives.
Prós: Well appointed. Classic beauty with modern convenience.
Contras: The heat control!
Prós: If you like the boutique looks with no essence; then you will not mind this hotel. Nothing really works and the staff don't know how to fix it. ,If you like the looks and
Prós: Location is very good.
Contras: It is a expensive hotel, the service was not very nice with the exception of concierge, that they did a great gob.
The shower was leaking water so every time you use it, there was water all over the restroom, the hair dryer did not work,
Just details that you take for granted at that price range hotels.
Serviram champanhe no domingo.
Contras: A chave do quarto e o cofre eram bem antigos.
Prós: Good hotel, far from the attraction but there are shuttle for the other side where the attractions are. The shuttle every 30 mins until midnight
Contras: The staff are professional but rude somtimes.
Prós: Awesome staff. Great breakfast. Good cocktails!
Prós: Almost everything. The room was beautiful, across a small garden. The staff was very accommodating. The gardens were a particularly nice touch.
Contras: One major gripe: internet access (important, as this was a business trip) was very poor. Connections dropped constantly, and otherwise ran remarkably slowly. The only other gripe is very minor: as the hotel is in Giudecca, it's a bit of a "trip" to get to the main island. On the other hand, that's how it has the beautiful gardens and how it's not surrounded by crowds all the time...
Prós: The locaiton was away from the hussle and bussle of Venice but only a short boat ride away. The hotel's garden makes it feel like you are worlds away from a busy metropolis.
Contras: The walls were paper thin - we could hear our neighbors early in the morning watching television.
Prós: A 5 minute free shuttle ride across from Piazza San Marco to an utterly relaxing retreat in Venice. The service and staff are second to none.
Prós: The property is what one should expect from a HGI. There is a lounge area with outside seating. A pool, a restaurant with inside and outside seating. Hotel offers paid for buffet breakfast. Rooms are nice and beds comfortable. The best thing is the bus line to Venice (only 2 stops) is across the parking lot. Hotel offers bus and water bus (a necessity) tickets at the desk. Easy!! Less than 10 mins and you are at the start of Venice!! Half the price of any place in Venice and conveniently located!
Contras: Breakfast wasn't included.
Wifi is free but not on a secured channel
Contras: Left something behind and was told they did not have
Prós: Ease reaching from airport for late arrival or jet lagged traveler. Busy, so early check in, even for gold Honors members, seems rare, at least on weekend. Staff was pleasant. I liked that I could get bus/vaporetto pass there -- and recommend it since you'll need to travel by both to get into Venice. We had facility difficulties...the tea pot blew the lighting! They responded quickly and fixed the lights, ut never provided us with a working tea kettle. Also did not offer any reimbursement or accommodation. For anyone with mobility issues, know that returning from Venice on the bus lets you off across the street, where the only way to cross is a very high overpass with stairs. You can, however, request the hotel to send their van across the street to pick you up. WE found this out because we asked how to get across. Convenient to airport.
Contras: Having a meal in the restaurant....not bad, but p
Prós: Hotel is not ideally situated for walking to anything, but a bus stops right in front. Exceptionally clean with modern, beautiful rooms. Staff is very courteous and helpful for travelers in need of directions and help getting around. Highly recommended.
Prós: Location, parking, cleanliness, staff
Contras: Room temperature hard to adjust and works only when actually in the room. I know there are energy conservation laws but it detracts from the comfort
Prós: When u look at this hotel from outside u see it like one of venice typical building but from inside its very trendy and luxurious. The decor is amazing. The room we had was very comfortable and spacy and the bathroom was very spacy and clean. Plus the hotel is close to guglie station waterbus to airoport. The morning breaskfast was superbe :)
Contras: The most thing i didnt like was the internet service. It was very slow!! However it wasnt that big problem coz we didnt use the internet a lot.
Prós: Comfortable elegance at it's best. Warmest staff you will ever find anywhere in Venice. The staff could not do enough for us. Nothing was to much trouble. Spotless rooms, and nice views. The oriental bar is superb. We will always return to the Metropole when visiting Venice.
Contras: After 10 days leaving was very hard.
Prós: Fantastic staff, great location, cool hotel design and décor, great bar and food. Will definitely stay there again.
Prós: The hotel is located right in the middle of the tourism.boat access was simple and walking along waterfront at night was delightful. Hotel room was small but upgraded bathrooms were clean and nice. Gym was high tech with treadmill bike and weights but many runners opt for the waterfront unless too late in the day and the crowds make it impossible to get around
Contras: Upgrade carpets and Bedspreads
tv had very spotty reception
Ac unit would click 3times and turn on
Prós: Location. View of rooms facing the canal.
Prós: It is a great place to stay because it is a stone throw away from St. Marks Square. The water bus that took us to the airport stopped right in front of the hotel, which made the it easy for us to travel to the airport with our big suitcases.
Prós: Beautiful old hotel. small rooms, but efficient and comfortable for 2 people. Great decorative touches in the room. Our room had views of the grand canal, with windows that could've opened for a fresh breeze off the water. Breakfast included in the price of stay, and was delicious, with many options on the buffet, fresh made cappuccinos, and views of the water. Extremely easy access to vaporetto, minutes walk from San Marco and many restaurants and shops. Very friendly English speaking staff
Contras: A con for some: we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to our room even after taking the elevator, which was fine for us, but may be problematic or some; the elevator was tiny, which seems fairly standard for Italy, but good to know. In general recommend packing light, no matter where you stay as navigating over bridges in the city can be challenging with big bags!
Prós: Location, super nice staff, new rooms.
Contras: For the price we were expecting a better view on the room. On the contrary we were situated on a back building
Prós: The location of the hotel was ideal. It is a very short walk to Piazza San Marco. The hotel is also right next to some water ferry stations, which makes transportation easy. The staff serving breakfast were great.
Contras: Air conditioner was not working.
Prós: Take a water taxi to Piazza San Marco and you are only a few steps to the hotel. The hotel included a free boat trip to Murano to see a glass blowing studio and they also offer a one-hour boat tour around town in the afternoon for only 25 Euros per person. A decent hot and cold breakfast buffet was provided by the restaurant out front. We also enjoyed a dinner of traditional Italian specialties at the same restaurant in the evening. Our room was an inside room, so our view was only the courtyard area - but that was okay because all we had to do was step out the front door of the hotel and we were in the heart of beautiful scenery. If you request a waterfront room you will have gorgeous views. Our room seemed to be recently updated because everything looked clean and brand new. The bathroom was small but very modern with a relatively large walk-in shower - and it also looked like it had been recently renovated. The hotel common areas were undergoing renovations during our stay, but it did not disturb our visit at all.
Contras: The hotel thought of everything - like a selection of soap products, hair dryer, mirrors, convenience packs, robes, etc., but it took up a great deal of space in an already tight bathroom.
Prós: My room was amazing
Bathroom was awesome
Contras: Loved everything. Really!
Contras: Very dirty furniture.
Prós: The hotel was in a central location within walking distance to all the major attractions. I had a antique look with modern bathroom. I was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very courteous and helpful. I would stay in this hotel again.
Prós: Clean room, cozy bed, good bathroom, and good TV (if you actually need a TV while on vacation). Great location close to St. Marco's Basilica (main square in Venice). Close to shopping and public (vaporetto stop by St Marco). Included breakfast is good (eggs, bacon, juice, coffee, toasts, jams, etc).
Contras: Bathroom lacked a vent leading to a stagnant water smell. The A/C was barely able to keep up with just the heat generated by the 2 people staying in the room.
Prós: Near San Marcos Square, just steps away.
Prós: The staff made us feel as though we were part of the team... it was a special place from the people that worked there...
Prós: The location was excellent in Venice; I expected the Milan Casati to be nearer the Milano Centrale as depiceted on the website. The size of our room at bw Venice Montecarlo was too small; it was ok at Milano Casati
Contras: The Staff were always coutreous and smiling. The location is ideal.
Prós: The hotel is nicely decorated. Breakfast was very good and a plus. The best was the friendly, helpful staff. They made the hotel a cut above others. The man at the desk day/evening recommended activities and arranged tickets and directions for us. He was so kind and helpful. He even gave us an umbrella to use. I would recommend the hotel and would return at the first opportunity. We also loved the location. Thanks for a wonderful 51st wedding anniversary experience.
Prós: Localização. perto da praça são marcos
Prós: great location, very easy walk to San Marko and Realto Bridge. Rooms are nice, clean, staff was very helpful.
Prós: Location in Venice near to San Marco
Contras: Bed rooms very tired with stained wall paper in each of the 3 rooms we booked. The furniture and size of the rooms were good and they had comfortable beds.
Prós: Went to celebrate 20th anniversary. Stayed in a 3 star hotel in Venice before and this was certainly more posh and the price tag reflected that as well. Nice amenities that we were not aware of: breakfast was included at the restaurant, 30 minutes per room of private sauna, jacuzzi or steam sauna time per day. Hotel is a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's Square etc.
Contras: Staff are very well dressed and say the right words, but I never sensed any authenticity, warmth, friendliness, etc.. I asked for assistance on several occasions from different people related to getting to the airport, a restaurant recommendation, directions, etc and the responses were typically curt and robotic. The only exception was the porter/bellhop from the Philippines, he was great. I would expect more from a 4-star hotel when I'm paying $400-500 per night. It was as if they didn't like their jobs. The same experience was noted in the restaurant which was located in the sister hotel next door. Doubt I will return given the opportunity.
Prós: We really enjoyed our stay. The building was built in the 1300's. We just loved the history of it. The staff went above and beyond. The breakfast was good.
The location was great. About a 5 minute walk from the water bus stop and about 15 minutes from St. Marks square.
After being in the crowds all day it was nice coming back to our quiet little corner of Venice, sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the sunset and the boats go by.
Contras: I would have given it a higher rating except our room was on the bottom floor. It was very damp and the AC did not work well at all We did let them know the unit was not working properly and I am hoping they will replace it for future guests.
Prós: Historic building, good breakfast selection - super breakfast room - get there early to snag one of the two tables on the canal front balcony. Front desk and breakfast room staff are friendly and responsive. Was upgraded for one night - nice to ahve a larger room but required a move the second night.
Contras: I booked a single room - advise to get a double as although fully functional, the single rooms are tiny. My room did have a view over the side canal though and large windows in the sleeping and bath rooms!
Prós: Very nice , helpul and friendly staff. The location is very convenient and the service excellent. The rooms were clean and beautiful.
Some steps were loacated in the middle of the room.
Prós: Very clean , great breakfast
Prós: The rooms were very large and nice for the price. The hotel is located a little over a mile from the Piazza San Marco which was totally feasible because you can walk along the water. We had a 1 year old in tow and it wasn't an issue for us. It was actually nice to be in a quiet area in the evenings. There were also a few parks near by which was great to allow our little one to run and play.
Contras: The restaurant staff was friendly but the concierge and check-in staff were not so friendly or approachable as is to be expected from a person holding such position.
