Staff incredibly attentive The shortness of our stay
The grounds are really nice with a large and comfortable patio seating area and swimming pool. The furnishings in the room were old, old, old, and poorly decorated.
We stayed here 1 night in room 121. It was a suite with easy access to the swimming pool. The back door lead right to the swimming pool. The pool looks bigger in the picture but it's still a excellent size. The staff was great and Sunday brunch was delicious. Good hotel to relax and get away from the regular 9-5. The only thing I can critique is we were there on a Saturday and there's was nothing special for dinner. The bar food was ok and room service food was ok. No restaurants walking distance but no big deal. Everything was releasing
Great grounds and plenty of character; a relaxing venue with history and luxury.
Used condom wrapper in the drawer. Need i say more.
I had called ahead to make sure I coukd check in late, but when i got there, I couldn't find the front desk person (or anyone) for 5 minutes, then when I finally found her, she found my reservation, but couldn't tell what rooms were available & so had to call her manager, and long story short, it was just over half an hour between when I walked in the front door and walked into my room. She said it was her second day, which I can only imagine is really overwhelming, so I was trying to be patient, and I've had good experiences every other time I've stayed there, but i have to say, this one left a sour taste in my mouth.
Beautiful grounds Nice rework of what was there previously Nice pool and hot tub Good lounge Ample parking Comfortable bed Difficult to get to (in the middle of a neighborhood) Staff wouldn't print me a receipt (big issue on business travel) Pool / spa could be open later
Driving up the residential street and coming upon the entrance for the 1st time gives you a feeling of stepping back in time to another era. The attention to detail and the beautiful wood trim all around gave a feeling of a very special place. I had only one night to explore the mansion and surroundings.
The staff was very helpful when it was found out that the website I had booked through hadn't communicated with the hotel fully and they had to go digging for my reservation. But I got a room, it was very nice, even if a bit cramped, but that didn't detract from my stay. The grounds were very nice. I enjoyed their exercise room, it was more filled out than most hotels. I just wish I had had warmer weather to enjoy the pool and more time to enjoy every other feature of Hayes Mansion.
Everything from the room/bathroom was spotless incredibly clean . beautiful place to stay. Absolutely no negative comments to say.also GREAT STAFF! Very helpful and on point..even if I have to go out of my way to stay here again it would be worth it.very quite also.no traffic noises etc.will be back for another stay asap!!!
It was quiet and the front desk was friendly. We live a few cities away and didn't want to drink and drive after a party. It served it's purpose. I was a bit grossed out by the cleanliness of the bathroom. Most if not all hotels I've been in have the toilet paper folded (arrow) and this one didn't it. To me the folded t.p. is a clue that the restroom was fresh and clean. It made me second guess if someone had used the restroom prior to checking in or if it was cleaned. The following morning I took a shower and noticed that a used bar soap was still in the corner of the shower. I didn't touch it because I don't know who used it or how long it had been sitting there. As I was getting out of the shower I noticed medium sized long black hair on the wall of the shower. Again, I assume from previous guest. It second guessed my opinion of the cleaniless of the hotel and how thorough they are cleaned. I felt as if the towels were changed and that was about it.
Being able to use the upstairs business room for a meeting and size of my room.
This hotel served the purpose for me - it was close to where I needed to be, and it was in my price range. Overall, it was a fairly pleasurable stay. The room was clean and roomy. Although, I didn't understand when I booked it, it was a handicap-accessible room - which things were laid out a little differently than I expected. Other than that, the staff was friendly. The complimentary breakfast was good - and even served until 10am, which allowed us to sleep in a bit. I didn't have any substantial negatives - only some things I would have preferred or expected to be different. For instance, there was only 1 table in the breakfast room itself. You had to take your food and sit at one of the tables or island in the lobby... just seemed odd. And one other minor thing, I would have wanted the TV to be a little bigger in size than just a 27".
Mark, at reception, was one of the kindest, most helpful people in that position that I have met. When I arrived, the lobby was stuffy (actually, warm) and smelled of old cleaning chemicals...like if someone had used dirty mop water, but it was carpet. That left me with a bad first impression.
Generally the rooms are very clean one of the main reasons I love to stay here . Upon checking in we opened one of our drawers in the room and there was a open condom wrapper and condom box from previous guest. I advised housekeeping when she went to clean the room said she would take care of it. However when we came back after she cleaned it the condom wrapper and box were still there. Had to let housekeeping know again to get problem taken care of. I have stayed here more then 4 times and the experience is always very pleasent and rooms very clean. This time was a little disappointing.
I absolutely loved the staff - they were all extremely friendly, helpful and informative. They went out of their way to help me with all sorts of logistics. The cleaning staff was very nice and did an excellent job. The pool area was great and the jacuzzi was a nice addition. The breakfast area was nice. I would have suggested more fresh fruit and stronger coffee but that is my taste. The landscaping of the grounds and parking area was really beautiful. The location was a bit close to the airport and the road. At times, the noise was a bit much for someone who likes to sleep with the windows open.
I am not sure there is anything I liked about this hotel. Except maybe the price. Everything was very low-end and the free breakfast was not even worth the price...
Clean, large rooms. Helpful staff. Good location (in a main road). No problem.
Very quiet. A "classic" motel that is generally pretty well maintained. A little grungy in the elevator area.
The near position to the city (san jose) and the swimming pool Breakfast is very poor, missing the microwave and the fridge.
Good location. quiet
Nice and quiet. Room is cleaned. Nothing to not like. All good
Nothing was good about this place There were pubic hairs in the tub the beds were uncomfortable and not the right size the guy working the desk on night shift was a rude jerk and there were druggies hanging out in the parking lot.
Convenience Breakfast facility was dirty and breakfast was limited, not much to choose from.
Good place, price aligned. Nice internal decorations in a mixed of Spanish and Italian interiors. Breakfast better that other similar hotel in San Jose, they offer fresh fruit, that is a plus. Corridor air conditioning noisy. Dishes and accessories for breakfast not in a good state, scratched, damaged, etc.
Not ever going back!
2-star hotel? Half the rooms looked like low income rentals! The only employee not speaking English as a primary language was behind bulletproof glass. Location backs to industrial warehouses surrounded by barbed wire. Streets swarming with shady people.
Dirty. AC has thick lining of dust as fan blew. Desk clerk was rude.
There wasnt anything i liked about it. ItLooked nasty. Didn't care for location. The clerk was rude. I didn't feel safe. See above. I wouldn't stay there again if it was free.
Carpet very dirty , feet become black
This is not a 2 star hotel, ONE at best. I felt ripped off This is not a 2 star hotel, ONE at best. I felt ripped off
The room had recently been refreshed. Standard of cleanliness and attention to detail was severely lacking. A filthy desktop and nightstand made me wonder about everything else. Toilet leaked at the base, 3 of 4 lights in bedroom were burnt out and had to ask to be replaced.
The hotel was unclean and unsafe. The surrounding was scary. I had to cancel second day of my staying for that reason. The owner told me they will charge only one night. I hope your company will return or pay back my second day's deposit.
The staff made my family and I see comfortable and feel very welcome. No problem with the hotel except wish they had bath tub

The name given for this hotel is "Days Inn San Jose Convention Center." It is actually nowhere near the convention center -- you have to drive 15-20 minutes to get there. Additionally, the hotel is not clean or well-kept. The door in our hotel room had clearly been kicked in at some point, and the security lock was broken because of this. You had to kind of finesse the door into the right place to lock the door. There were stains on the carpet, the finish on the faucet in the bathroom was peeling off, there were holes in the bathroom wall where the towel rack had been at one point (it had apparently been moved for some reason?), chips in the floor tile, and the room smelled a little funky. This was a last-minute arrangement for my husband and I, and we chose the hotel because we thought it was near the convention center. I will be much more careful about my hotel selection in the future, because I did not feel comfortable or safe staying here.
