The rooms were nice. The receptionist was not bilingual and we had a hard time communicating. However, the next morning there was a bilingual person manning the front desk. They also have no elevator so toting your luggage can be cumbersome to the third floor.
Quit nice small and hospitality but need some repairment. Staff is good. Breakfast very poor Bathroom is very old and needs some repairing bath and toilet
This hotel was only a 15 min walk (even for a tired 4yr old) to the center/train station but felt more like a small tucked away hotel you might find on a hillside somewhere. The courtyard/pool is stunning, with a really nice space for eating outside as well. The wind in Nîmes meant it never got too hot, but also meant the water in the pool was very very cold. The train to the beach at Grau du Roi (where the water is a bit warmer) took less than an hour and was only €1 each way. Great boulangerie across the street, plus a Carrefour just around the corner. The friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff really sets this hotel apart. I travel extensively for work and can only think of one other hotel with staff so helpful, and that was after staying at that hotel for a month, not just the few days I spent at L'Orangerie. We stayed in two different rooms. The first was more expensive but a bit more shabby. Its shower room really needed updating. The next room we had booked was much more cheerful and fresh, and the bathroom was fine.
The restaurant food (our selection) was excellent. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful Rather a longer walk into town centre than anticipated. A taxi or car journey for the less mobile
location, and pool
Easy to find and parking is very convenient. Rooms were spacious and facilities are many and varied (eg. Swimming pool). Dining room was pleasant and you were given numerous options for breakfast. It is located a bit out of the city centre but the walk was relatively easy (20 minutes).
Good basic hotel
Easy to find. Bed was terrible as both twins rolled into the center so that you were lopsided. Also noise from the highway is loud. Sleep was difficult and this hotel does not measure up to other Best Westerns.
Good Breakfast and having a poolside room Difficulty in obtaining the complimentary welcome Tea/Coffee tray especially getting the refills. Why are they just not left in the room?
It was a convenient stop before leaving early in the morning for the airport. Did not like the fact that the restaurant was full and we could not dine there.
Easy to find and in a convenient spot. The staff were good. The hotel felt "sad" and rundown.
The restaurant in this hotel i very good.
Location. Hard to find on a narrow street, but right in the heart of the old town. Adaquate room, nicely appointed. Interior open-air courtyard was beautiful with old stone archways, had a castle-like feel. Not really. Parking was 100 metres away in a shopping centre parkade, but at 8 Euros/day it was cheap. And what do you expect in a two hundred year old downtown hotel?
Situation of the Hotel. We like the fact that the hotel is an 18 something years old building. The public spaces gave us a real feel of the age of the bulding and area where it's located. Overall, it was a good exeprience. No place to unload our luggages on the street. We had to park our car in a nearby shopping center and walk with our luggages on the street. The room itself was clean, the bed was good but it's a bit outdated and might require some refreshing.
Myself, my partner and my brother had done a road trip to spain and stayed in this hotel for 1 night on ruturn overall we stayed in 3 hotels and they all were very nice, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and tidy. we only had 1 issue with the hotel and it was the breakfast it said 14 euroes each for an american style breakfast and all we got was bread and butter with a choice of cheese and hams and some yogurts and crossants we needed a big breakfast before our next 6 hour drive so was disapointed with that. we would saty again but not have breakfast.
my daughter Danielle stayed at the hotel and she said she liked it. The staff were very nice
My husband and I stayed at the Ibis Styles for 3 nights in December. We thought it was great. The hotel is right behind the train station, which was great for us, as we were using the train for transport. A short walk through the train station and diwn a picturesque walkway got us right to the middle if the old town. The staff was very helpful and had great recommendations for meals. Breakfast was included and snacks were available all day and also included in the rate. Would definitely stay here again! The rooms are great! The only negative is they they are a bit small and a little dark. But, the space is used very well and it was perfect for what we wanted to do. Great value for the money!
Liked the location, adjacent to the main sights. Also liked the ambience of the hotel: stone floors, high ceilings, tall French doors opening onto street views. My room looked onto the street on the first floor (European first) and was noisy early in the morning.
Nice decoration, comfortable room, heart of the city. No elevator, no international tv, old room door.
Ideal central location. Hotel room with a lot of style. Rather poor acoustic isolation. Vinci public parking pretty expensive.
Nice spacious room and lovely breakfast area and breakfast was very good. Receptionist in the morning was extremely helpful. Arrived 10pm and although the person who checked us in was nice I do not think he was familiar with the role of receptionist. Everything was closed!
We have stayed at the Royal twice now. The rooms are fairly basic but very spacious and the hotel has a great Spanish influence. Best of all is its location and the resturant serving taps which has a good atmosphere. Noisy at the front of the hotel and needs better duvets and pillows-perhaps a little more creature comforts?
I would have to say the style of the hotel and the room were outstanding; we felt like royalty. Staff were brilliantly professional and language was no issue. The location in the centre of town was superb and close to all the Roman monuments, coloesium etc. an underground Parking station was very close and extremely unobtrusive which was great due to traffic being insane. The noise from the bar downstairs was heavy (we were in an extremely lavish upgraded suite above it) however in a spirit of holiday loving, if you can't beat it, join it, so we had a couple of drinks downstairs as well.
right in town centre great price performance Chef even opened up 1/2 hour early as we had an early evening appointment
Its location is excellent. Facilities are bad. Internet regularly stops working.
Location, location, location! 20 seconds from Roman theatre, 5 minutes from amphitheatre (which was quite amazing) and close to shops and restaurants. Hotel staff all very good. Bedding and towels all very clean Our room was very basic (no wardrobe nor chest of drawers just open rail and open shelves). Small bath and no separate shower. Very noisy each morning
Apenas pernoitamos no Hotel.
The pool was good. The shops near by. Other than this was nothing else we liked. The staff were rude and very moody. From the very start when we walked in they did not greet, just grunted. The tv did not work in the room. The fan was noisey which kept us awake through the night. Most of all was pure rudeness, waving there arms and grunting snap replys. ie asking if I could get a coffee, he was so cross and put out. The woman got her cleaners to clean our room before 12. We came back from town having breakfast because we did not want to stay there, saw our bags moved. we all went to the loo and my son had a shower he was very hot. Left the room at 11.45 gave the key in, All of a sudden the woman flying up to us screaming what have you done to the room they have cleaned, we must pay. They agreed it was before 12..
beautiful building surroundings and annexe good sized rooms quiet with no external sound very clean. Easy access to rooms. Very difficult to find - poor signage at dangerous junction. Unhelpful staff, obtaining a drink in the unlit bar area was a chore. No illuminated area to relax or socialise in, swimming pool dirty with leaves floating and debris on the bottom. Decoration dated odd curtains in room.
Owner very helpful. Forgot our adaptor and he directed us on where to purchase and location. Quiet... and relaxing atmosphere.
very easy going and frienly staff had a lovely time and could not of wanted more for a weekend getaway in france thanks for a fun time
The superior room aiecon did not work, thw standard room was cramprd The swimming pool
Situation comfortable bed, tea making facility and a bath! Nothing
Extremely clean and comfortable, with very good faclities Not a dislike but it would have been nice to have more t bags in the room
Two rooms were booked on Friday, 13 August 2010 at an offered price of €69.00, but we had to pay in fact €75.90 for one room and €75.80 for the other, because of “Aj. Chambre” of €6.90 in the one case and €6.80 in the other. We did not like the attitude of the manageress.
Peaceful location near to Airport and link roads, good car parking.
Proximity to a major road
Location for the airport
Clean and adequate for the purpose
country location, peacefulness, proximity to airport and security. it was very difficult to locate from Nimes City
