Contras: Everything... the plane was from last century, the stop was in Aruba or Curaçao and the airport has not AC and it was 100 degrees ... the plane was sooooo delay they gave us a vaucher for our next flight with THEM fir the next 30 days... who travels international every month? I really wanted to enjoy ot but life happens to be complicated and i can’t fly every month.... i wish i could have had an at least 6 month window OR a sandwiche at the super hot airport.... im Latina and i know we are a little bit to cozy... but caribean people (meaning the Island... im caribean too) are REALLY RUDE!!! So try to stay away... is not their fault is just cultural... nothing against them...

Rescheduled with no notification
Contras: This is actually a review of our flight from Bonaire to Curacao. The flight was rescheduled to from 10:30 am to 6:30 am and we weren't notified so, of course we missed it. They claimed not to have our contact info despite the fact that we'd been contacted earlier for the flight down. Several others were in the same boat. Divi Divi airlines stepped up and chartered us an 8 seater to get us to Curacao in time to make our connecting flight. One other passenger said he had to fly between the islands every other week and this was the last straw for Insel Air.
The flight was cancelled.
Contras: The flight was rescheduled 4 hours later in the middle of the night. We went to the small office when we arrived from our connection and went to see what was up with that. We were able to go on the flight we were originally booked on but they wanted us to pay(again). We said hell no we are not going to pay. The locals call this airline "CancelAir" which seems to be appropriate.
AUA-CUR flight - on time and operated well.
Prós: Short flight. Departed on time, and with prompt boarding. Ticket agent and gate staff were efficient and friendly.
Contras: Older airplane interior is functional, but needs a bit of a bit of attention. (Just as a side note-- the CUR arrival Customs queue is chaotic and unclear for visitors vs residents)

Contras: The travel agency that works through KAYAK CS@AIRFARE Is irresponsible and don´t want to give me my money back of a service they did not provide. On my way back from SDO to CUR it was no airplane, the rep from Insel air said that if I would have bought my ticket through Insel air they would have reinburse me the ticket back but as I bought through cs airfate thorugh KAYAK , they have to request INSEL AIR the refund and they will give me my money but csairfare only respond me that it was noto a reunfable ticket. Is not my fault that it was no plane , I arrived on time and they left me at the airport with no support of any type at all. everybody got a refund except me .

Contras: The Insel flight was delayed a day going from Miami to Curacao and delayed from 10:20 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. the NEXT day, getting us into Mismi at 4:30 a.m. A tiring nightmare. Never, never again will I use this airline. No food vouchers, let alone open restaurants made the delay even worse..

Contras: The trip and the return were the worst travel experience I have ever had in my life, since the various changes of the flight, the terrible counter at Maiquetía, Venezuela, the lack of information about the loss of my suitcase from Caracas to Curacao , Not even an apology. I received 10 days without luggage without compensation and I even had to pay to carry the suitcase to my house. The return of Curacao to Caracas was disorganized. There were always mishaps when checking in Caracas, Aruba and Curacao. Traveling in tourism is synonymous with enjoyment but Insel Air does its best not to. I do not recommend this airline

Contras: flight scheduled for 7 am rescheduled to 8:45 then 10:00 then 10:20 then 11:15 am... at 1pm we were still at the airport. The staff is ill informed. This seems to be a regular occurrence. Needless to say we never flew out had to cancel the whole trip. The Insel office at the airport was no help with a refund and keep telling us we had to go to headquarter somewhere on the island... a no no request for people on vacation on a island they are not from. What is the point of having an office an staff at the airport who has no desire or ability to assist. The worst ever!

Then they gave us a voucher for Pizza Hut and even there, we couldn't order whatever we wanted it was only specific things. Imagine a WHOLE flight in line waiting to get 1) a voucher and 2) Pizza. It was a nightmare. The flight left almost 3h late. With no apologies or explanation. Same thing when I returned from PAP, the flight was over an hour late and it was the ONLY airline that made passengers wait outside in line! By outside I mean in the hot sun, over 90 degrees! There were children and older people! It was unacceptable. In all my years of travel I have never seen such mediocrity.

Worst Experience Ever
Contras: The lack of communication as to why we were delayed. When asking the crew why we were delayed, they were laughing as if it were funny, and the stories kept changing. One minute we were waiting on the crew to get through customs (which should not take 1.5 hours), then we were waiting on a plane altogether. I will never fly Insel Air again, and I will discourage anyone else to do so.

Contras: This was my return flight and again the flight was delayed with no explanation as to why. We were waiting and waiting and hungry. I've made several trips to and from Haiti and this was the first time using Inselair and have had a less than pleasant experience going and coming back.

Contras: I found cabin crew to be unprofessional in their mannerisms and I didn't like that their was no communication about the flight being delayed or the reason why. We were left at the gate just sitting and waiting and waiting. No one came out to say anything. Thank God we were able to check the flight status online to see that it was delayed, but never knew why.

Contras: Flight was from Miami to Port Au Prince Flight delayed 2+ hours from 2:30 to 5:00 Rerouted due to weather (not their fault) 2 hour tarmac delay with no updates (their fault) Rerouted to Curacao for the night Terrible communication of policies led to arriving at the hotel at 2am. At that point, I bought a hot dog because food service was only a small bag of corn chips. Spent 2 nights in a hotel because they didn't have room for all the stranded passengers the next day. Flight was also delayed leaving Curacao to finally get to Port Au Prince by an hour and a half. Oh, and my bags never went to Curacao, they flew MIA to PAP direct and got soaking wet in rain somewhere along the way, as evidenced by water damage on some of my belongings.

Contras: Going to Haiti the flight was delayed two hours and there was an uproar in the airport. We were supposed to board at 2pm, we didn't see an Insel representative until 3ish. Once there the representative kept telling us 15 minutes until we board for an hour just to pacify the customers. Coming from Haiti the flight was delayed another two hours...same problem. Insel did not email me or apologize for the inconvenience.

No Service, No Problem!
Prós: Old planes, which actually had lots of leg room! The Inselair baggage handler in the Customs Hall (lost and found) was awesome, helpful and friendly!
Contras: Multiple flight CANCELATIONS and multiple flight CHANGES! We had one cancellation and two changes to our flight from MIA to Bonaire. One of the itinerary was 26 hours in duration to get to a destination that was originally 5 hours duration. Returning there was one change, one cancellation and a 9+hour delay for he final flight. We opted to fly back on American because we would all miss connections and have costly hotel stays, change fees, etc. Now we are working with Insel to get a refund on our return flight. All that being said, Insel would not help anyone with rescheduling, sent us to multiple desks to get a refund and after the fourth desk which was Customer Service we were told only Corporate could issue a refund and we had to do it in writing. Further, some folks were given food vouchers, one gal was lucky enough to get a hotel voucher for a missed connection in MIA, others got nothing! We did get food vouchers, but no hotel vouchers for a night in MIA due to the 9+ hour delay.....we were told the reason for the delay was "the plane is not here until tonight". Really? We were also told our original flight was canceled 3 months prior, yet no one notified usor any of he othere passengers. Insel could have avoided all thsee issues if they actually sent a notification.......
