The Hotel is new so everything looked and felt clean and very modern. Access from foyer up to rooms was quick and easy via the lifts. The room was styled as apartment as a 1 bedroom apartment with the bed located in a separate bedroom from the main living area and kitchen. The living area and room was also furnished with modern furniture and other décor giving it all a very sophisticated look. Access to the restuarant facilities of the sister hotel next door was also appreciated. The Hotel backs onto what looks like the ABC TV broadcasting studio. At night a generator could be heard from this adjoining property and the noise could only be reduced to tolerable levels by keeping the bedroom window closed.
it was new and everythign was fresh nothing
Lack of onsite dining facilities
Clean, modern and fresh accommodation. Car parking availability. Easy access to everything if driving. Walking distance from Dickson offices and restaurants.
Good price, very helpful staff Sounds silly, but the pillow was big and I had trouble sleeping with it.
Loved the decor, loved the service, loved the fact they didn't hesitate to discount our room rate when we complained that we specifically booked a room with a bath in it but couldn't take a bath as the tap was broken. We will be returning to Canberra just so we can stay in the hotel again!!!
blackout curtain were good. great interior design
We loved the trendy decor in the entrance area and quietness of horel room. We gave the hotel 5start rating and we have stayed at most other 4 or 5 star hotels in Canberra because we visit every 6 weeks. The carpet in the rooms was super trendy but not good on the eyes. Wish it was not quite so zig zag.
was awesome staying there....The receptionist was nice...cant rememberher name tho....lost a pink camera. called back but the staff havent gotten back to me...
Recommend Urban Food for breakfast just round the corner - big serves and great coffee. The suite bath was great to relax in after a full day. Parlour Wine Room great food and beverages and attentive service.
Reception staff where helpful with locating offices I had to visit using Google Maps etc The room was cold on first entry and took some time to heat up
Our room was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend it
Elegant comfort, good location Buffet breakfast was very average, bar was crowded in the evening, also did not do mixed drinks.
the layout and style of the room staff advised me that no food was available anymore .... however we rang the day before to check till what time the restaurant was open ... they said till 10 pm ... and I was there 9pm ....
Great design mixing old and new. loved the staff and their approach. Excellent bathroom. Comfortable. Like not complain unless really bad and nothing was bad at all.
Value for money, staff were friendly and hospitable and facilities exceeded expectations.
Excellent staff and service Excellent facilities Good food and wine selection Separate basin and vanity from bathroom in order to double as a pseudo kitchen not overly practical Food and beverages a bit pricey I.e $8.00 for 600ml of water which brand could be bought from supermarket for under a dollar?
Location, close to attractions
Wonderful room & great location. Room service, ordered breakfast the night before and had to request twice where our breastfast was the following morning.
Location. Cleanliness. Poor facilities at breakfast. Coffee machine was constantly running out of supplies(milk & coffee) and wasn't fixed. Couldn't get a coffee with milk from the machine. Requested cappuccino from bar and after a long wait finally received one - which would have been an additional cost but they waived the fee. Steak was grossly overdone at dinner (requested M/R) and was sent back.
Relaxing comfortable and enjoyable
Location and ease of getting around Canberra from it,also light airy room.I quite liked the basin being separate to bathroom. I was not impressed with the house keeping staff knocking on our door at 9am to find out what time we would be checking out, especially when we had an 11am checkout. When I mentioned this at reception the gentleman suggested it was a bit early for a Sunday but I don't care what day it is . I have never experienced this anywhere else
Very clean modern room. Friendly staff. Will stay again.
Central Canberra location. Interstate bus terminal under the hotel. Convenient to public transport to most areas of the Capital Would be handy to have a coffee shop in the hotel
A location. Awful it was. The breakfast for a value was a waist of time and money. Crowdy, and no food at all. One towel was provided though 2 of us was in the hotel. I called a guest service they promised to deliver another one but failed to. I was suprised that a toilet could be devided in 2 parts. One - the toilet itself and a shower are separated from the bedroom and another part is with the room. Never again Novotel
The view from the room was excellent & as we had visitors from overseas with us, they were very impressed. The only fault I could attribute to our stay there was the noise from traffic but I do realise that this is unavoidable and i would certainly stay there again. As above.
The fact that it was so quiet during the evening/night, one could have been in the countryside rather than a Capital city.
Modern, affordable and comfortable city appartment. The property is well situated with all of the necessary conveniences and supported by very helpfull staff. We will stay there again!
The convenience to convention centre was good . Lack of blinds as sun streamed in and it was very hot and too light in a.m.
Easy to find well laid out apartment close to centre good car parking i would stay again
The swimming pool Balconies unsafe for small children especially with furniture on them.Dated decor and furniture.
Fully self contained comfortable 2 bedroom unit. It was very convenient for the family.
Convenient location to anu which we were visiting for its open day. It was spotlessly clean and adequate for a one night stay. The central heating was very high so it was extremely warm overnight.
view looking out over the lake & 'Capital Hill' stunning.
The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. The location can't be better, right at the city centre besides the coach terminal, with shops and taxi stand within walking distance.
Convenience, comfort, central, quality, cost, Nothing stands out
It was very convenient to go and see Floriade The bed was like a brick and i didnt sleep well at all
Convenience and style of unit / building State of the Bathroom plumbing
Central location/decor/friendly and helpful staff
Convenience to local resaurants and public transportation; some rooms (on West Row) are nicely appointed and on less noisy side of hotel. Garbage trucks at 5:30am are not enticing.
Staff were very courteous and helpful, location is great and room had all required amenities.
we loved the size of the apartment and the washingmachine and dryer facilities, being there for 3 days it was nice to have separate rooms for tv and sleeping the very loud music from downstairs pub in the evening until very very late caused no sleep for my husband, but thats not your fault, perhaps double glazing might help that though
Good location, walking distance to shopping and resturants, Plenty of things to do in Canberra There was a bit of street noise most of the night, but I expected it not a huge problem.
Location. Discovered late Saturday evening that my room hadn't been serviced that day. Very annoying. Reception staff most helpful in trying to remedy things the next day. But the Sunday service looked a bit ad hoc.
excellent service from staff
well-trained courteous staff and spacious layout booking.com seemed to hav ebooked the day prior to the one on my reservation printout. the hotel advised us that we were a no show for our evening and luckily I had a printout of our booking with me
Great room, excellent food, good gym
The staff were very helpful. the location is excellent. the food was very good and well priced
liked the shower too old, carpet is like a 2 star hotel. the room is very noisy with the out of date aircon.
The service was excellent, the rooms were well equiped, and the hotel offered a very relaxing environment.
The helpfulness of the staff -particularly when responding to the unexpected ( a fire alarm on Friday night) My room needs minor repairs - lights, television. It is also not fully sound proofed against the noise of the lifts.
Close to Floriade & Civic. Good views to Mt Ainslie. Clean & comfortable.
The staff were very nice. The hotel was very clean and is located in very close to Canberra's central 'Civic' area. There was some smoking in a neighbouring room, but putting the air-con on gave us clean air. The hotel must be getting a bit old, as some of the surfaces and bathroom areas are cracked.
staff were very helpful and efficient, bed was comfortable sink in the bathroom had taps in odd position and water got everywhere
It was handy to everything, the room was clean and compact and the view from the wondow was amazing. The price was competitive and the service was friendly and efficient. I found the room very hot and couldn't seem to adjust the air conditoning.
Comfortable bed and bedding, interesting views to the east, good tv, good lift service, basement parking.
Seriously old place... Tiles in bathroom broken, paint chipped, furniture broken from the 60
It was friendly and helpful - location was great - parking external was very close - the bar next to the reception was very welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful - room was very clean and rest ful - would have taken room service instead of restaurant - did not like the set menu and the set price - next will take room service - cheaper and if you want to choose what to eat and if only want one meal - for the cost in the restaurant not good value - The tv broke down during my stay took nearly three hours for tech to arrive - and the security card did not work - so could not get into my room and had to take all my luggage back to reception for another card - under ground car park was took few parkes and very difficult even in a small car - decided to risk parking across the road - the bed in the room gave me a bit of a start when I sat on the bed it moved. - but over all no real complaints - these are just little annoyances -
Wonderful views, comfortable and easy access to city centre Slow getting anything sorted out. Drainage system unsatisfactory
Comfortable room; good bed; reasonably good outlook/view; good value. Bathroom was Ok but getting dated. Afternoon sun quickly heats up the west-facing rooms. Needs double-glazing.
Leaving Overpriced and poor service
The evening meal at the in house restaurant and the comfort of the bed. The room rate did not reflect the standard of the room. The rate was commensurate with a well appointed multi room suite, possible even 4.5 star when in fact the room was no better than any accommodation better than 50-60% cheaper in price probably 3 star. The mantra of this particular hotel appeared to be charge the guest for everything yet the room rate possibly should have been inclusive of a bit more, I mean I was being charged $470/night for the priviledge of sleeping and nothing more.
the proximity to the canberra city walk and nightlife having to pay $15 per day for parking
Good location. Very large room. Only one comfortable seat in a very large room. The 2nd person needs to stay in bed for a comfortable seat. Poor bathroom not in accordance with a 4* hotel. No separate shower.
Room design - excellent layout for working and comfort
Easy access to shops and restaurants, did not have to use the car could access everything on foot. The $15 parking fee per day and we had dinner at the Casino restaurant and became ill from the steak I ordered.
Visit relatives and do shopping.
1. The various staff I dealt with were professional but still friendly and helpful - be it reception, food service or otherwise. 2. The beds - very comfortable. No - Ive stayed on other occaisions and wether for work or pleasure it's been a consistently positive experience
Good standard facilities available. Very close to the parliament house, nice walk to the lake griffin.
Free parking Poor quality food, ugly rooms
Location to event I was attending Room was old/dated and aircon inadequate and probably needed good cleaning out
The Meal we had in the dinning room was very good. However the service was a little slow. The air conditioning in the dinning room was freezing. Thankfully I had a shawl my sister did not and was quite cold. There were no towels in our room when we arrived. I noticed when we arrived at about 5pm that someone was making up a room about 5 rooms down the hall so I asked for towels from the young man. There was an empty bottle of water on the floor that the previous people which had not been collected when the room was cleaned. On paying the bill I was told that there was a charge on the Visa Card. I think that is outrageous.
No warning that there were extensive renovations going on - right over the room we were in. Not acceptable!! Top dollar for a construction zone - not acceptable!! Could not stay and had to find another last minute hotel. Will NEVER STAY THERE!!!
The beds were fantastic, best nights sleep ive had in a long time. Staff were nothing but friendly and helpful, stayed in an executive king spa suite and the spa bath was beautiful, worth every penny
Dominion room was nicely furnished and very spacious. Housekeeping needs to improve a lot.
Staff were very helpful and the location is perfect if going to Manuka Oval, or wanting to get just oustide of the main city itself, but still only a 5 minute drive away.
They accepted my clothes for dry cleaning even past collecting hours.
Bathrobe Too few powerpoints. Very spartan rooms.
we could walk to eating venues
Able to order room service breakfast late at night The rate charged ($350) was ridiculously high for the standard of the room, and the hotel smelt bad
Very convenient location to the centre of Canberra The shared parking facility menat we had nowhere to park the car as the car park was full of casual parkers at the adjacent restaurants and night clubs. We had to walk from a long way away late at night.
Sleeping, ease of access, very personable staff. Price (mediocre quality at relatively high cost). For this price I was expecting a much higher quality hotel.
Reception were pleasant and helpful and staff were courteous Lack of storage space
The location was convenient and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant could benefit from upgrading the menu; though prices were high and quality rather poor. The additional fee for parking was not appreciated!!!!
Having booked the two bedroom apartment - aided in privacy and personal space when travelling with an elderly mother-in-law. We also appreciated the location - central to ANU (we were visiting our son), shops, resurants etc. I cannot think of anything that I disliked - only would have liked to stay longer!!
Location is good, easy walk to City Centre restaurants. Rooms, including bathroom, very basic. Bed and furniture are cheap goods. They also have expensive charge to park under hotel in very narrow spots.
easy to find, just drive down the federation highway and pop in, no having to get lost in the city before you even unload your bags. al-a-carte weekday evening menu a bit low on selection and meal we had wasn't really worth the money paid.
Unfortunately I do not have a high regard for this hotel. Room was cold with no electric blankets and this is Canberra, brocken tiles in the bathroom , grouting turning black, spill in fridge from a previous tenant not cleaned up etc etc etc. These rooms should be taken off availability untill fully refirbished. Was there anything to like, I don't think so.
The staff were very pleasant, especially the lady who looked after us in the restaurant. Even though the location is out of town being Canberra it means nothing is far away. The pool area looked lovely as did the gardens/bushland surrounding the hotel. There were a number of disapointments with the hotel. I have sent a complaint email already. If we were staying in a "Superior" room I would not like to stay in a basic room! The room was quite small, a bit noisy and it opened on to the walkway around the buildings which meant there was no privacy unless you kept the curtains closed. Also, it was right under the flight path form the airport - not a lot of planes but enough! Not sure what they mean by "Resort" either.........
The stay at your hotel and the best thing that i could say i liked was the kangaroo and goe in the garden on the friday night THe mould in the bathroom and the left over soup on the shower rail , the tiles in the bathroom looked like thay were going to fall of and under the sink you got wet feet when you turned the taps on ,and the cold coming it the front door.Os i dont think that we will be staying at your hotel the next time we are in canberra
Very poor organisation with breakfast. Understaffed and poorly organised. Definitly an area needing improvement. Shower taps did not turn on. Appeared to be pressure related. No signs / direction.
The staff were very helpful and friendly
The lack of organisation of staff (15min at the front reception desk to check in). The quality of fixtures in the room (the toilet was broken; the actual bowl) the cleanliness of the grounds (about 50 cigarette butts outside my non smoking room)
The is nothing we like about this Rydges Eagle Hawke Resort My family including our young children (as young as 2) were put in a room which has been flooed with the smelly sewage water on the night of 3rd October 2009. We could not use the toilet, we could not bath or take shower because the bath room was already full of sewage water. I rang the hotel receiption twice during the night to report but twice being told to stay in the room and nothing the hotel can do to help. It was a horrific experience of our life. We checked out the next morning, I did take video and pictures of this room, can upload if you want to see it, I think the public should know about this type of service at Rydges Eagle Hawke Resort.
It was close to where I needed to be The room had a smell as though the carpet was damp, a small blow heater was on in the room, bathroom was filthy, room had mould and damp, bed was uncomfortable...where do I end.
Surroundings were very attractive and habited by wildlife. Noted the availability of laundry facilities if we plan a longer stay. We paid for three people (sent this intention in advance) but the room which contained a single and a double bed, we only set up for two (cups, glasses etc.). Also only one person on duty at the desk at 9 am meant the check-out time was excessive.
Nice amenities and very clean and convenient for my business trip. underground car park (gratis) and free WiFi was a huge perk and determination factor for original choice and repeat stays.
Room was clean, glad the room had air con, bathroom was still modern and fresh looking, nice entrance, very grand!!
Handy to Art Gallery Towels were very hard on the skin. Require less soap when laundering
The Diplomat is an unassuming gem: quiet, quality accommodation; great value for its ideal location and excellent, friendly customer service.
I like the lay out of the hotel it feels very welcoming and the rooms were large.
internet was free and bar staff were friendly yes i paid $185 for a deluxe room, and was put in a studio room. and when speaking to staff about this they were rude and unfriendly and made me feel uncomfortable. you need to update your website as the pictures you display for each type of room are not accurate.
Central to where we needed to go during our stay Larger coffee/tea mugs would be good & more milk
staff were very nice, especially with my teenage daughter. quiet, clean, restful, no husstle, parking very good.
the meal and the desert breakfast
Quiet and comfortable Decor is a bit dated
