The hotel is located close to a few Wellington attractions which can be reached on foot. The hotel room was beautifully designed. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The parking rate was a bit steep at NZ 20 per day and there were only a handful of available spaces for hotel guests although the there were a number of car park floors in the building.
Helpfulness of the reception staff at registration, cab bookings, and any questions I had during my stay
The peace and quiet that I experienced in my room, the nice high room situated on the 22 floor (I do like having a view so enjoyed that) and the very comfortable bed and having sky TV It would have been good to have some guest info on how to use the TV as it took me a while tyo sort it out. Maybe there was one but I didn't see it!
The location to the city was excellent The noise from construction works was very disturbing. Prior to our arrival I emailed twice to confirm some details and no one replied therefore I had to make a toll call from Australia to confirm this information - this was frustrating.
location and comfortable bed minor issues but you did not supply smaller toiletries on request such as toothpaste etc which is usually included in Travelodges free of charge in UK, no tv guide to what was on the channels
Well situated. Good price. Nice hotel room. In room a la carte breakfast would be better than a 'set' breakfast.
The location made it central to almost everything, walking was easy to and from most tourist spots like Te Papa etc. Cafes and eateries were close by. Access was not clear for visitors via the car park, not open for lunch
It's very convenient for the city centre and it's not too bad, though I wouldn't rate it more than a 3* hotel. The staff were very helpful in regard to directions in the centre. The staff were not always very helpful and a lot of information given out was not very clear. It is also difficult to park and I would not use a car next time.
The cost. Central location at a reasonable price. Signage. It was very difficult to find our way to the reception area. There was no booklet in the room with information regarding eateries, how to work the TV, things to do, etc. We had to go to reception to find out information.
It is new and clean Finish and facilities are very basic and quite austere. The breakfast was of a poor quality.
The location was perfect. The room was clean and the beds are very comfortable. We interacted with 2 staff members from the front desk. One was incredibly helpful and kind. The other was rude and acted as though we were just 'stupid tourists' despite the fact that I would imagine a lot of their business is from tourism. When we valet parked our car, they required that we go down to get our luggage from the vehicle and then had to walk back up the ramp against traffic - very odd considering we paid $34 for one night of parking. Then, seeing how we are not from NZ, and discussed our travels, we were not aware that we had to put our card into this slot near the door to engage any power. This was not obvious to us, and it is not customary in hotels in the US. When we called down to ask if they had an idea why our AC wasn't working, the woman (who also worked with us at the front desk) was clearly irritated with us and acted as though we were idiots. While this seems like a small collection of interactions, it left a very poor taste in my mouth in regards to my stay at Novotel Wellington.
Great having lift access down to Quay The bath was small.
the staff were friendly I didn't get the room I booked and paid for - and ended up sleeping on a sofa bed
The positive attitude of all staff made one feel most welcome. The room was comfortable, clean and very quiet. The breakfast was excellent. I found the lift down to Lambton Quay really useful.
Proximity to everything ie tsb Arena, train station, shopping
Staff were okay. It is very central to getting around in Wellington. I have stayed here on 2 previous occasions with family and it was great. However this stay on my own there was no free breakfast as I had apparently booked on the wrong website to get this and I froze in the room despite car5rying out the insructions to change the temperature.
Helpful and courteous staff
The location was fantastic and the quick access to Lambton Quay very convenient. Only had a little contact with the staff, but they were very helpful and courteous. As a woman, a little thing like the hair dryer can make a big difference; Trying to dry/style my hair with the Novotel's tiny fitted model that had only 1 speed/heat and had to be operated by holding the button down was very frustrating. Two of the top priorities for women in a hotel room are good lighting and mirror position for make-up and a decent hairdryer. All hotels seem to be the same in this respect and yet it's a small thing that could easily make you stand out from the others.
Good value for money, in particular the restaurant has a great deal for dinner for 2 people. Very clean, comfortable rooms and the staff were very friendly.
Good location, nice and clean, comfortable beds, great breakfast included in the price. Excellent value for money.
The staff were friendly and informative about the surrounding area. The rooms were well presented and clean. There was no outside noise and the room had a decent view of the harbour. Overall it was a nice, comfortable stay and good value for money.
The request for clothing left at hotel, to be returned was not achieved. Reason unknown.
Nice Rooms and very handy to everything we needed. We didnt like having a phone call two days before we were due to stay telling us of a mix up in Bookings telling us we couldnt stay at City Life and being put up in another Hotel of very budget Accommodation,(after we had booked 6mths in advance) and told it was going to be of similar quality to City Life, it wasnt until the second night we found out there was actually a room available, not that anyone was going to tell us!
This hotel is in the middle of the shopping/business district in Wellington. Apartment was roomy and comfortable. It would be excellent for a business stay. The view from the window was not attractive as it looked out on a hillside.
Proximity to main amenities no
The large rooms and the great location in the middle of the city
The two bedroom apartment was great. The beds were comfortable and rooms were large. So close to all the great shopping and walking distance to great bars and pubs. The staff seemed to have no information about Wellington and were to eat. The lounge room aka eating area was very small and expensive when you could walk for a few minutes to a great cafe
The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment contained everything we could possibly need and the hotel is in a good central position in the city.
may check swap card to sensible
Staff were very polite. Great room, very spacious, smart and well equipped. Hotel right in centre of city and great for shopping and waterfront. Would definately stay there again. Check in was very slow - about 20 minutes
Very convenient location, friendly staff, good price.
Great staff and service the meal at restaurant
centrally located, 24 hr front desk beds sunk towards the middle, a little worned out.
Pleasant quiet location - within walking distance to cbd/shopping etc. No electric blankets but I was offered a hot water bottle which was ok
The staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Person at the desk took the time to explain how to get to town, even though they were busy at the counter. The only drawback was that it was a little further away from the centre of town than anticipated, but on the good side we got plenty of exercise!
The friendly, helpful staff, the privacy and the stunning gourmet food in the restaurant, which was a real treat. We were looking to affordably spoil ourselves after a difficult family time and this was perfect in every way. No - it was all wonderful - perhaps a Sunday Paper would have been nice
This was our first visit to wellington. We enjoyed the location of the hotel, as we could see where it was on the skyline.A good brisk walk into town, and good value for money. I liked to have a swim in the mornings. The small lift seemed a bit dodgy, and one time when we returned back, it wasnt working. we had to walk right around to the front entrance as the ph. wasnt working. It was raining. The small lift
The food was quite good value The location...it is right at the top of a hill!
the attention of the staff no
Location, close to city and easy to walk everywhere Space of rooms, clean rooms
Handy to the city
We appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the service they provide. We also enjoy the environment and location.
The decor is spectacular... the staff are very attentive and client focussed Nothing!!
Very relaxing - staff very helpful. Will visit again! We were interupted early for room cleaning - esp when we were not checking out.
Staff so friendly and helpful. Coffee recieved at the desk was quite revolting....
Had a very comfortable room.Good&close to other resturants &TePapa
Familiarity - I have been here before. High class with interesting decour in a vibrant city. The entrance from an "underground" car park does not do the hotel justice
The atmosphere in the downstairs lobby, the convenient location the great room rate. The ground coffee I received on checking in. The cooking smells on the third floor, the shower - not strong enough.
The walk in area, the corridors and the and the quietness are all good. The room was spacious. I thought a few of the staff on the counter lacked the quality of the hotel. They asked me me payment after i had made an internet booking/payment and nd were not as friendly/smile as the cost of the hotel would suggest.
the location was excellent for the Te Papa museum, but a bit of a trek from other central facilities. the room was comfortable and well equipped. the harbour view room did have a limited view of the harbour, but mainly of the Te Papa museum, which is so vast it blocks much else out. We found the breakfast rather over-priced and pretentious - we had to ask for butter and, when it came, it was a tiny pat scarcely adequate for one, but in a tiny china container.
The gorgeous foyer and art. The proximity to the pier, restaurants and shopping. The rooms didn't really match / were a step down from the first impression in the foyer.
The service was slick and courteous. Facilities were comfortable and classy with a very good range of equipment in the delux kitchen, The hotel staff were friendly and the location was very convenient . This hotel is a refreshing change from the big corporate spreads. A great place for entertaining our family in the separate lounge attached to the. suite Paid internet rates in rooms per day were too high., but you can get free access in lobby.
Very helpful staff, friendly and courtious. The food was very good for room service and breakfast. There was a great view of the small park next door, but other views were limited by the surrounding buildings.
The views were great. The room spacious and well appointed.
Everything about it - as could perhaps be guessed from the fact that it rated 'excellent' on all features above.
Your staff bent over backwards to help me and I appreciated that
Being able to order special pillows
great hotel, offering all that one would require n/a
Staff were friendly and ready to please. All staff went the extra mile. Facilities fantastic. Overall would stay again because the staff made it. Not impressed about being charged for mini-bar goods when we didn't take any. Room ok, but could have been cleaner.
Great service and good location Poor breakfasts especially the coffee; very expensive car parking
As a repeat client it was great to be welcomed informed manner ie they recognised our home town and made friendly conversation. As we were having a business meeting in our room the request for extra chairs and ground coffee were met instantly.
Queries and faults were very quickly addressed and rectified. Daily newspaper and tourist information leaflets available. Inclusive on-site parking was excellent value. Staff were most helpful and friendly. I thought that some obvious faults should have been picked up and been sorted before the room was re-let. ie hot water tap not working.
the quietness and off street parking. she is starting to need some of the detail work touched up, eg, loose shower head, looking A Bit dated, but comfortable,
The room was very clean and comfortable with good shower, electric blankets, effective wall heater and black-out curtains. Good fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, and microwave. Staff were very pleasant. Good parking area underneath. Close to city centre. I would use it again.
Reasonably quiet and close to city for shops etc. Staff were pleasant but seemed inexperienced with poor Emglish making communication difficult! Kitchen had broken microwave when we arrived.(which they replaced when we pointed it out). Over our 3 day stay, beds not made, carpet not vacuumed and tea, coffee sachets not replaced. The only servicing was replacement towels, tea towels. Very small tv... minimum of everything really!
Free off-street parking. Coffee & tea facilities provided. Entrance/driveway has a tight turn to get into. Difficult for bigger cars to manoeuvre.
the cleanliness of room and comfortable bed and reasonable access to the city not really a complaint but lack of impliments in the kitchenette such as no egg slice
Free parking, good location, handy to centre of Wellington, spacious room, very quiet at night, helpful staff. Clean towels and sheets, good shower, good heating (even though it's November already we had to use it...). It's a bit dated, but not a problem to us at all. All we wanted was a good bed, good shower and a good night's sleep, and we got it (plus, the TV is good too). Good value for money! Some cups and spoons were dirty, as well as the couch. Not a big deal, anyway. Just could do with some attention to detail in the cleaning.
its perfect for my needs.comfortable, close to everything I required.nice guy at reception.always pleasant. I own a 73 room hotel in Hastings so I appreciate service and cleanliness.thereception staff are the first point of contact so its nice when they have nice demeanour it wasnt a big issue, but just to let you know that the first night I stayed, everything was in rm.the second night (I checked back in)it didnt have a dishcloth or writing papaer on the bedside table.
the heating was totally inadequate in the room small electric heater for freezing night
The Manager was incredibly flexible and helpful when my flights changed and allowed me to stay another day.
Great location, comfortable and warm
The location of this hotel is very good for visits to sporting events. Ease of travel airport or train station, to hotel, to sporting venue is great. Handy to bars and restaurants. Good views over the harbor from some rooms. Semi see through glass wall between bathroom / toilet and bed is a bad concept.
staff were very courteous and helpful food was excellent and our room was very comfortable and well appointed no
Location to city, pleasant staff, quiet at night. The bed was too small and my husband and i had to sleep in separate beds. I didn't realise a had booked a room with 2 double beds only.
It is a conveniently located hotel I had booked a twin bedded room some months before leaving the UK. We were eventually offered a single/double bed and had to have a (very comfortable) "put-you-up" bed squeezed into the room. Seperetely, the restauant manageress was graceless and "sour" and gave a poor impressing of hospitality. I would never stay in the Hliday Inn in Welligton or recommend it ti friends or business colleagues
That is was clean and quite. Staff were obliging, and everything I wanted to go to whilst in Wellington was within walking distance. Having to pay for car parking was a bit odd!
The whole family enjoyed the swimming pool and the spa.
Only stayed for one night after travelling on ferry from South Island and location was very convenient for this. Upgraded to harbour view room which was comfortable and had everything we needed.
the price that gave me was more than price for other guest about 35%
Location was good and staff very helpful and friendly Room decor and fittings a could use a bit of a redo
Kids running in hallway No car park for general use - only valet offered and not told how much it would cost
Ran in the Wellington marathon
The location for shopping, and closeness to the waterfront, particularly the Queens Wharf bars and restaurants, can't be beat. The proximity to the harbour also means attractions such as Te Papa museum are a short pleasant stroll away along the waterfront. The hotel itself is getting on in years now, but still offers quiet, comfortable accommodation with a touch of class. We booked for two separate stays of two and four nights a number of months prior to our trip and were disappointed to find that the entire cost of both stays was deducted from our credit card about two months prior to us actually staying there.
Location & the executive lounge Bathrooms need an update
The gym and pool facilities were great, very clean and the gym staff were friendly and attentive. I found the administration around my booking very poor. I ended up spending too much of my time reconfirming things I'd already told the staff about my booking and the cost. Generally I found the service of the staff poor given the quality of the hotel - I get much better and responsive service from other quality hotels.
The location of the hotel was very nice ans the staff was beyond warm and welcoming!
The staff in the Club Lounge were very good, especially Nina. Food quality and presentation in Chameleon Restaurant was excellent. The hotel is centrally located relative to commercial activities, shops and public transport. Underground parking and a guest laundry in the same building is a plus. It is now getting quite tired/dated and in need of refurbishment. Attentativeness of waiters in Chameleon Restaurant could be improved. The lack of a fine dining restaurant separate from the general lobby area detracts from the dining experience. It was disappointing that the bed turn down service did not occur on 2 out of the 7 nights of our stay.
Very Friendly Stff, nothing to much trouble for the few staff we had to deal with directly. Excellent help from the concierge desk!!!
concierge was excellent and helpful. The difference between complaint and not liking something is so fine as to make this impossible to answer. My name incidentally is prosaicly John Walker
excellent hotel, close to attractions and city centre
Clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms The beds were incredibly comfortable The staff from top to bottom were extremely pleasant and helpful. They epitomize the phrase, "service with a smile."
Staff where exceptionally helpful and allowed me to feel comfortable and safe as I was travelling alone
Amazing hotel... big 2 person tub, 2 shower heads in the shower... fantastic location downtown.
Very convenient location in Wellington for access to all parts of the city, professionalism and knowledge of staff were excellent. Nothing.
The friendly, attentive staff The bed was hard.
The Staff were friendly and very helpful, Nothing was too much trouble. The Girls always greeted e with a smile. Very impressed. Two problems only with my stay. Firstly the chairs in the Restaurant are far too low for comfort and the tables don't accommodate ones legs with ease,Secondly Cafenet inernet connection is useless. I paid $20 and had 5 minutes use of it as I continued to be cut off. It took 4 phone calls to their help desk also one call from your Reception to the help desk, which still didn't solve the problem. Need to change it. I heard the same complaint from other guests
Nice and quiet on the 8th floor. It's within easy walking distance of almost all of WGT main places-to-see. On one day the room was made up only at 2.30pm, but the next day there was a knock on the door at 9.30am from the staff. The hotel has a check-in after 2, check-out by 10 policy and the staff ought to abide by their own rules.
location to Westpac Stadium
Location The pillows were very uncomfortable
it has access to a good nearby gym and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly
Enjoyed excellent meals and service in the dining room. Do not want my remarks to be published.
Clean rooms, good restaurant
It was very quiet in the room and it had a good shower I would have liked extra bedding. I was a bit cold in bed.
The service was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I felt that they would be able to help with anything I needed help with, very capable. My room was very comfortable and the room service was great. The food was delicious! I didn't have time to use the pool, sauna or gym. The hotel was handy to seeing Wellington and shopping! A few small issues with the cleaning - dirty teaspoons and a mark by the shower that could easily have been cleaned off. I didn't feel that the room was dirty though, it was very comfortable.
This hotel is so well positioned and belongs to bye gone era which new hotels do not have .It has its own retro feel about .it is the best hotel in Welly. Do not like television but if I did one would have to tv is poor receprion wise . Glad that it is so.Internet booking did not come through just as well we had our print out.
Friendly staff in the restaurant at breakfast .
convinient location to Te Papa and restaurants Ideal location for transfer to RV rental vehicles for tourists window catch broken
Staff were helpful and friendly on front desk and in restaurant. Rooms are very small and quite dated, felt it was a bit over priced. Phone didn't work but staff may not have been aware as it was very dusty!
nice staff and location a bit old, need some renovation
Close to Te Papa and restaurants. Small tv and no balcony. Quite noisy at night.
location Room decor
Bay Plaza was clean, comfortable and quiet - considering how close it was to a very busy road. For me it was perfectly well placed for easy access to Downstage Theatre which was my specific destination, to my friends' apartment in Cable Rd/St and to the Embassy Theatre. I would recommend it for it's cleanliness and convenience.
It was close to the venue I was attending. Also close to shopping. It would be good if there was some sort of air conditioning in the rooms as it was very hot and the window do not open enough to make a difference.
We were early and could go to our room, the room was heated and wellcoming no
