Prós: The staff was very nice and friendly and always helpful. Breakfast was good and varied day to day.
Contras: It was verry bad place satay because before i booked check in two times different date and first one I went there to check in they said sorry I know that you booked room today but your room was some one occupied because he was verry sick .would u mine stay another room and we will give u half price only. ok let's see room . but room was too small n dirty. so don't like that room.so they transfer me to another near hotel.after few weeks i have to check in second times because I already booked before but I didn't went there to stay.
Prós: A equipe foi muito agradável e amigável, e sempre útil. Café da manhã era bom e variava todos os dias
Prós: A bit of luxury in the midst of the chaos of Thamel. Staff was amazing the the room was clean and comfortable. Food and service in the restaurant was also amazing. My room was on the 5th floor and there are no elevators, but I kind of enjoyed the exercise. If you don't want the additional leg work out and cardio, then you might request a room on a lower floor....All in all was a great stay and I would stay there again next time I come through Kathmandu.
Prós: The room was very comfortable and the staff very responsive to our requests. We had a few meals hear and really enjoyed the food. The airport pick up went very well and was easy. Given the challenges with power the hotel was very nice to make sure we had what we needed.
Prós: 1.The cost ($21,usd/night), 2.Venue real nice courtyard to chat with people from all over the world-mostly trekkers but other tourists and expats on extended stays or working in Nepal), rooms small but clean, no ac but not needed, can open windows at night and sleep comfortably 3. location (if you want to immerse yourself in the culture of Kathmandu) 4. cleanliness 5. Staff friendly typical of Nepali people I have met in country and as expats elsewhere. To put in perspective if you are looking for a multi-star with turned down covers and gourmet baking, scenic view etc. go elsewhere but if you want to dive into Nepal culture and chat with other like minded folks this is the place.
Contras: The power is shut off by the electric company from time to time by the electric company but the is typical of all of Kathmandu. The internet was slow but I didn't come to nepal to stare at a screen for long periods of time.
Prós: The location and the staff were the best part of this place. Right in the centre of the tourist district and the staff answered every question I had. Cleanliness was an issue, the sheets clearly hadn't been washed and the bathrooms never had toilet paper so I had to but my own. The beds were really hard and the towels were rough. The morning breakfast was actually pretty good and they had free filtered water and yoga classes. And it's a cheap place at a good location with friendly staff. Overall I liked it.
Contras: I stayed here for 3 days with Gate 1 travel. Tour guide recommended me to have dinner in Shambala restaurant. Since I had been having breakfast in the hotel so I thought it will be safe to eat there. I ordered Smothered steak. After my dinner I felt sick. I had stomach ache, nausea, and vomiting. I believed that I got food poisoning. It's very disappointing and they ruined my vacation. Next day I found out from our group that there's another few people also got sick from having dinner there the same night. I was happy and healthy for my whole trip till I had the dinner in Shambala hotel and got sick. I posted my comment on Shambala's facebook and their management came back and accused me that I was sick on the trip to begin with and my illness wasn't by their food. I found them very irresponsible for their comment. For my experience with this hotel, I will give them a zero star if I could. I hated it especially after their irresponsible comments.
Prós: Looks like a Nepali Palace. Really lovely. Very close to some of the key sites. Good pool, spa, etc.
Contras: Cuisine options too limited.
Prós: Staff, services, business lounge, happy hour.
Contras: Pool too cold. Constant power outages, inconvenient location.
Prós: Ambience was good. .Was also built as per the ancient Hindu temple structure so liked that. .The plush green joggers park and Tennis courts were one of the best features of the Hotel..
Contras: Food was tailor made to Westerners. .US Indians had very little options given the fact that Nepal culture is very much influenced by Hindu Indian culture....The entire set up was pro West with Indian culture taking a back seat..In room Menu was poor with limited options..Lack of Co - irritation among Hotel staff...A lady just walked into my room for house keeping while I was still in the room which got escalated to a high level. ...However the entire episode was hushed up by not charging us for that night and the next to follow. .
Prós: Parecia um palácio nepalês. Realmente adorável. Muito perto de alguns dos principais locais. Boa piscina, spa, etc
Contras: Opções de comida muito limitadas.
Prós: Pessoal, serviços, um salão de negócios, happy hour.
Contras: Piscina muito frio. Falhas de energia constante, localização inconveniente.
