Inn is in a lovely location. We were excited about or stay until we checked into our room. We had no air conditioning. Called the front desk and were informed they that were a green establishment that AC worked on motion sensors. It never came on after several hours in the room. Had a horrible night sleep. We tried to take showers in the morning. No hot water in the shower only in the sink. This Inn really needs work!!! Bad night sleep plus no shower ensures we will never return. What are you paying for in a hotel room. Sleep and a functioning bathroom. Inn st Middleton gave us neither. What bothered us the most is that the staff did not care. They knew we would be gone the next day and would have new unsuspecting guests who will have the same experience as us. What has happened to southern hospitality
Second time back to Middleton Inn. This time the weather was against us. Cold and nasty, but the sun came out enough on the second day to enjoy the grounds. Love the plantation and area. The rooms are very rustic. The bathroom is great and the fireplace makes everything warm and toasty. Our only drawback was the bed was not comfortable for us. Hard and squeaky. But otherwise, love the breakfast and evening get together of wine and cheese. Met very nice people and would like to go back at a different time of year. Enjoy.
If you want a wondeful retreat with old world charm - The Inn at Middleton Place in Charleston SC is the place to go! The rooms are definately not your typical hotel room - they are specious, cozy and the ammendities are like no other. The staff was very gracious and there are tons of activities to add much enjoyment to your stay! It's a wonderful getaway - quiet and peaceful and the views are great!
What a wonderful place! This hotel is where you go to get back to nature's beauty. The rooms have beautiful hardwood shutters & floors with contemporary building architecture. There's a really large garden bathtub for relaxing at the end of the day touring the plantation gardens next door. There's a trail leading between the hotel and Middleton Place, along the Ashley River, that's especially breathtaking in the early morning hours. The full breakfast is delicious and offers lots of selections. My favorite was the early evening reception at The Lodge. It's a gorgeous building with large windows overlooking the Ashley River where the staff served us complimentary wine (and beer if you like that) and appetizers. Very friendly and knowledgable staff throughout the property. The pool was the perfect temperature and sits right along the river. Very well-designed lay-out at this property! We will definitely be back! What a great escape from the pressures of our modern day lives!!...
Our first time to vist South Carolina. I must say the grounds were very serin and beautiful. I was expecting much more from the room. The grounds are all sand so the room floors were always gritty even with our shoes off. Our arrival was at 11:30a.m. and thought they would have made every effort to get to our room ready as soon as possible. We were told by the assistant manager that check in was at 4:00p.m. Of course we did know this, but most places we have traveled to make an extra effort to please the customers. Our air conditoning did not work and had to call. Our fridg was only stocked with 2 bottles of water. The coffee pot was old and I did not use it. The ironing board could have used a little padding-and the cover would not stay on. The bath rooms were not up to my standards. The fan was located in the tub area and it was dirty with cob webs inside. The tub needed to be up dated, it looked like mold between the tiles and the knob to turn on the water had alot of black inside o...
This inn offers the most relaxing yet versatile get-away you can imagine. Nestled on the banks of the Ashley River, it offers opportunities for active (biking, walking, canoeing) and relaxation seeking travelers alike. Nothing will cure your daily stress like a stroll in the mesmerizing gardens of the neighboring plantation (admission included in lodging) and the tasty southern cuisine (breakfast buffet included). It's a world of its own and well worth exploring. The perfect place to ''get out'' but not suitable if you plan on daily visits to Charleston unless you bring your own car.
We stayed at the Inn last weekend and really were impressed. We were told by friends about a winter getaway special. It was a good deal and the place is really unique. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, and a fireplace in our room! Would like to see more general upkeep, because we would like to continue making this a winter getaway for years to come now that we know about it.
This was a departure from your normal hotel experience. It was like camping, but with all the comforts of home, including a usable fireplace in the room. Very romantic. The adjoining plantation has beautiful grounds to stroll through. Food was great, too! We didn't have time for the horses and kayaking, but those activites are available. Consider this for your next group retreat, too.
I found this hotel on line and was hesitent on visiting because of some comments on the rooms. I'm so glad I wasn't a guinea pig and just went with my gut! What a gem! Spacious rooms, basic layout but comfortable, fantastic staff. Every guest I encountered there was beyond impressed with the property.
We live locally, but needed a place to get away. This Inn is incredible! WE loved the natural surroundings, great birding; the grounds are beautiful and they even have kayaking tours. For us, it was an adult camp with class. Just what we needed to relax and escape.
