Front desk staff were very obliging and helpful. Location of hotel on the marina was excellent.
The jazzuzi did not work and it seems like it has been like that for weeks.
Good price and an excellent location.
Large room, large public areas, good service from bar man. Terrible, white light in bedroom and bathroom - try using some normal lightbulbs or yellow lamp shades. Reading lights did not work. I missed tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Very nice breakfast. Nice swimming pool.
The hotel is well situated close to the city centre, the train and bus stations and the Norwegian Coastal Express. It is a modern design and overlooks the canal and old docks area. The evening 'summer buffet' was good value for money.
I appreciated hospitabiity of the staff as they were always ready to help and assist. Everything was ok :)
Acolhedor.
Very nice spa! Good location and generous breakfast. Poor/uncomfortable beds, windows could not open in this room... Poor air-con. Time has put it's marks on this hotel - it needs renovation.
I paied for the whole period of staying on my arrival by bank card. On the next morning I found out that nearly the same sum of money (about 4000 NOK) additionally was took from my bank account as the transaction made by Britania Hotel. Reception staff said that they have no information about this transaction in the Hotel system but my bank confirmed that it was made by the hotel. I got my money back only because of my bank efforts. Hotel did not provide any excuses..
It's a very good value considering the breakfast buffet is included and food can be very expensive in Norway. It's right in the center of Trondheim and close to everything. The new beds are extremely comfortable and I got my best night's sleep in Norway on these beds. The interior is a bit raggedy and dated, though clean. The spa, which is the reason it was recommended to us, is kind of odd. For example it has a room with nothing but these cushioned chairs sort of like pods hanging from the ceiling. Couldn't figure that one out... Also there were no soaking tubs that were quite hot enough for me.
The SPA and the restaurants are excellent!
Large comfy room, polite & helpful staff
The place is gorgeous I was not given breakfast. I had to catch an early train, and left half an hour before the breakfast buffet opened. In similar circumstances in cheaper hotels a single breakfast has then been prepared. At the Britannia there is no such service, which at that price is astounding.
Central location, good atmosphere Difficult parking facilities (about to be improved I believe), preparation for breakfast not finished at opening time. Our room was located a loong way from the lobby and the nearest lift did not go to parking area due to construction work.
- pretty small room, cheap bed quality
It was all good Nothing
The old-fashioned atmosphere yet high standard of rooms, the location, the fact that there was a cot for our baby in the room on our arrival that it was not possible for us (including two old ladies who can not walk very far) to have a proper dinner in the hotel due to bookings and some special event (on a Saturday evening), the breakfast was not that good - cold scrambled eggs for instance
Room size and facilities were excellent, we had adjoining rooms with my 16-year old daughter and we were able to have the connecting door opened. No problem. Not really, however as we had a very early start from the hotel in the morning, we were disappointed that the buffet breakfast was not served until 7 am at the earliest.
The hotel was in a very convenient location, close to the train station. It was clean, friendly, inviting and the included meals plus afternoon waffels were wonderful. You get what you pay for!!! In a good way :) The hotel is very modern and the beds are really comfortable.
Overall nice hotel. Excellent location and clean room. Nice and service oriented staff. The breakfast room was quite small, with many people at same time it was very crowdy.
There is no place for clothes, no closet, no drawers, no safebox. There is not enough staff people around to assist (only one who does all jobs).
The temperature of the room was very warm and the lights control was not efficient
Location, staff, very friendly atmosphere Nothing
breakfast is very good, nice modern and big rooms, free internet access, good location. parking: reception didn't tell us the parking garage under the hotel is prepaid....so the next day we had a fine. Could not find airco in the room and the window couldn't be open because of all the dronken (shouting!) people walking by.
Light evening meal. Free Thursday night concert tickets. Well located.
No dinner possible.
new comfortable hotel in the same city center, free DVD for rent, expensive parking free dinner very poor if we compare with other Clarion hotels in Norway, breakfast should be better organized
the customer service and breakfast was especially accomodating to a persons needs the size of the room, no washing & ironing facilities in room and hotel was underconstruction
food was good. very central location.easy access to trains and ferries.bed very comfortable.general atmosphere quite easy going proximity to night clubs made it very noisy at night. booking system failed causing great stress due to the staff not understanding how to access the money which had been reserved from my credit card account. I did not think the receptionist was very helpful
welcoming and helpful reception, Very nice
Very nice, clean, well located hotel in Trondheim with a marvelous buffet breakfast. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station. Thon Gildevangen is a very nice hotel, but be sure you don't get a room facing Karl Johan Gate. There are 2 bars and a Diskoteque across from the hotel and the noise, music and loud talk, is continuous to 3 AM - except on a Sunday night.
The brakfast was very good. The room was very nice and up to date, but a little bit small. At night some noise from the surroundings (pubs).
food, ( breakfast was good/excellent, and and it was nice to have the option of a free kveldsmat First one, the next day two and later three of four lights in the bathroom stopped functioning....and did not get repaired .
The design, the breakfast and the staff The room was very small
A warm welcome. Excellent breakfast. Very comfortable beds. Central location.
it is very closed to the station poor lift, and the room a bit too small
Great location and breakfast/dinner. Very convenient to train station and the Hurtigruten boat terminal The beds were a little old
Good value considering the breakfast and evening buffets. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location - close to everything yet quiet. Our room faced the inner courtyard and groups sitting there were quite noisy during the day and in the evening. Also many people were smoking in the courtyard so even though our room was hot and stuffy we could not open our windows or the room would be filled with cigarette smoke. The hotel should not allow smoking in the courtyard.
The atmosphere of the building and its quiet location
The staff were exceptionally helpful and the provision of waffles for afternoon tea. Delicious. Nothing at all.
Some of the staff at reception were not so very friendly and helpful, but others were very nice. The room was quite small with the extra bed for the child.
Unpretentious, very clean and comfortable and a convenient location- the afternoon waffles were a very nice touch.
That it was clean and the staff friendly. On tap coffee/tea/hot chocolate.
Courtyard Facilities with Buffet all day
free coffee, nice staff
Hotel is an old bakery building full of character and very comfortable. Much more interesting and relaxing to stay in than the modern plastic alternatives. Central but quiet location. Excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast, make your own waffles in the afternoon, and evening buffet all included in the price. Coffee available throughout the day (also included in the price). Free reliable and very fast wifi (vouchers available at reception). Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.. Finding it difficult to think of something we didn't like. Bed possibly a little too soft but that didn't affect our sleep.
Simple, effective and quiet
location excellent. staff very helpful. comfy and clean rooms no
fast free wifi internet, cleanlines, good location - whole center on walking distance, free cup of coffee at check-in, check-out until 12:00 no parking available, no brekfast - only possibility to buy some sandwiches
The price was reasonable, it was very centrally located. No, for the price it was very goodl
the room is clean and the kitch room is excellent nothing
The staff was very nice: polite and helpful with requests. Another plus was the excellent location. Breakfast not included. Bathroom not very clean.
Great location, friendly staff, good value for the price. Beds aren't that comfortable, bathroom can use improvement.
the kitchen facilities
Very nice and friendly hotel, very polite and hospitality stuff. Also, the building is like classic castle!!!So,easy place in the center Trondheim.
has front desk staff available only from 9 am to 6 pm
Excellent location, extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good facilities - kitchen/fridge etc, which meant we could cook rather than eating out all the time, plus washing/drying facilities. Noise (not really the hotel's fault!) - city centre was very noisy at night throughout the week with people coming to and from pubs/clubs late at night, noise from lift. Friday and Saturday were worse, with guests in the neighbouring room having a pre-pub and post-pub party. Staff however were very helpful - warned guests about the noise and let us use another room. Towels are not changed daily (but they did give us extra towels when we asked and there is access to washing and drying). No toaster :(. Blinds on windows would be useful to keep out streetlights at night.
