Beautiful hotel. Close to activities & great ocean views Beds are horrible. Old & no box springs. Seven nights was almost unbearable. Ant's in the room. Overpriced for the supposed best hotel in town.
The view is incredible, the rooms/beds are comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Falafel Bar across the street had great food too. Some of the staff were rude and came off pretentious. This is especially annoying when you're on vacation and just want to let loose. TOO MANY KIDS. They pretty much took up the entire pool, were loud and spent all day there. I didn't have a moment to enjoy it until I went after 10pm. DO NOT GO TO FRED'S next door. We stepped in for a minute to check it out and the guy immediately hollered at us from across the place that we had to spend at least $10 or we had to leave. Um bye. The Wi-Fi also went down for an entire day, for the price you pay to stay here this was unacceptable.
We loved staying here!! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was so, so friendly. The staff members greeted us by name and we always felt welcome. The location of the hotel is superb and so close to the beach. I would definitely stay here again! No beach view from our room, but the proximity to the beach and other key attractions more than made up for it.
We stayed in a deluxe room with a king bed and jacuzzi bath. It was outstanding. We could see the ocean from our balcony and the rainforest is quite literaly right next to the property. I can't say enough about how good the experience was. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if I went back. Christian, one of the hotel's concierge staff members, was especially helpful. I went on an excursion and accidentally left my credit card back at the hotel, except I needed it for the excursion. Christian exceeded my expectations by helping with the logistics by finding a workaround to avoid what would have otherwise been a big problem. As a result, I had an amazing experience. Everything else was incredible - from the swim up bar in the pool to the roof deck. I really can't say enough about it. Everything about the property and staff consistently exceeded my expectations. I have no complaints.
The location is perfect, right by the park entrance and a 2 minute walk to the beach outside of the park and restaurants/shops. The hotel is really nice, clean and amenities were great, especially the pool with the big slide which was a big hit with the kids. Breakfast was very nice too and had a wide variety of items. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating. The bed was hard and sheets were awful. My daughter slept on a little bed they provided which was more of a cot with no real mattress, so quite uncomfortable. The dinner buffet had little variety although everything was really fresh.
The hotel is right next to the rain forest and is pretty amazing! You can see monkeys from your room. It's walking distance to the beach as well. Staff was very good as well. The hotel did not have my reservation when I checked in. But it wasn't an issue they got me checked in.
The view was spectacular. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The food was excellent. The pool was great. And the locations was also excellent. The stairs were fine but could be a problem for some. And the rooms were narrow and tight, bit a decent value considering the location.
This hotel gets high marks from out while family. We had three rooms for two days for six adults and two very young children (11months old and 3 years old). The staff is outstanding from the front desk to the cleaning staff everyone made our stay very pleasant. The rooms were modern, clean and very comfortable. The only issues we had were lack of hot water early the first morning and very noisy the first night due to football celebrations everywhere around the hotel (the rooms are not soundproof in any way). They offer secure parking about two blocks away but there is pleanty of on street parking for loading and unloading and parking long term if you want. We really loved the food in the on site Resturant and the ice cream parlor just outside the hotel. It was very close to Manuel Antonio National Park and beach. Which is where we spent a lot of our time. They also help arrange tours if you want them and several in our group went on the mangrove tour. Beautiful location, fantastic sunsets. We really loved our trip.
Staff by far was the best quality. The front counter employees were very helpful and very nice, and the people working in the restaurant were great too. Parking was horrible. We got there late at night and the private parking lot (which was not even in the same city block as the hotel) was full. I parked in front of the hotel and was told a private guard ar night would watch the cars. In the morning I could see evidence of somebody trying to break into my rental car. Also, apparently there was a karaoke near by that went nonstop all noght both nights we stayed there, rooms were not bery sound proof. If nightlife is your thing then this is a good hotel for you, if you want a quiet nights sleep, I suggest looking elsewhere.
The room was huge with 2 king beds. There are 3 of us so the size was great. The people were great, as are most Costa Ricans. Beds were hard. There is no direct access to the ocean, across the street.
Location down town Friendly staff who are eager to assist Internet is very patchy Parking is away from the hotel and very tight, resulting in my car scratched by another.
Bed was nice and comfortable. Pretty good location Hotel pool was tiny, included breakfast only had 3 small options, and the entire hotel looked like it was built in the Soviet Union in 1970. Our room was in a basement-type area, with little natural light and very poor water pressure. Bad for the price!
This place was fantastic - impeccable staff. The food is unbelievably good. We had almost everything on the menu and the deserts are insane. There's a band that plays every night - they sing in Spanish and English - everything from Tangos to Top 40 - really fun. One night, there was an incredible opera singer who performed three songs in 3 languages (I think she was staying there too)! The owners walk around to every table at breakfast and dinner to introduce themselves and see if there's anything you need - very cool. It's also designed with an eco-conscious sensibility. The owners said they are a carbon-neutral business - the oxygen produced by the rainforest on their land offsets their carbon footprint, etc. Not to mention the 1-hour long walk you can take through the rainforest on the property is wonderful. All said, we had the best time here and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be able to focus on the fun. We'll be back for sure.
Best quality of service I have ever received at a hotel - the staff went above and beyond my expectations. Nothing!
What a delightful hotel. Pure luxury in a jungle environment. They saw to our every need including having our own valet. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. You must eat at their restaurant, easily the best in Manuel Antonio. We highly recommend staying at Gaia.
Great facility, staff, clean and nicely decorated room, fabulous restaurant, beautiful ocean/jungle view
The room was very large. The staff was helpful and the pool was a plus.
Clean, spacious rooms, beautiful grounds, plentiful breakfast. Good location close to MA park and beaches! Some other hotels in the area might be closer and/or have beach views, but Plaza Yara will be hard to beat for the price and amenities!
We LOVED our stay at Villa Mymosa. Our unit was huge, with a kitchen with all the utensils needed to cook meals & a full-sized fridge/freezer so we could even have ice cream. The pool was the perfect temperature & with only 10 units, it was never crowded. The staff were all friendly & helpful, but our favorite was the owner's dog, Meg. So nice to have a furry head to pet when missing our own! Villa Mymosa is set a little above town, so you feel separated from the hustle of Quepos. And the monkeys! We saw tons of capuchins, partly because the owner directed us to where they would be during breakfast. How can you complain about a place that has a morning monkey travel report? Great stay, highly recommend. No complaints!
The Kayak Lodge was a very pleasant surprise. We had to cancel our reservation at a VERY expensive resort in Manuel Antonio for logistical reasons and booked the further away Kayak Lodge for a greatly reduced cost ($150/night vs. $400/night). The room, grounds, facilities, common areas, and pool were immaculate. My daughter said that it was the first place we had stayed during the trip (and we stayed at some very fine places) where she felt comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The owner (Marlene) and her staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. When we needed a late check out, we got it. The Manuel Antonio guide Marlene arranged for us (Millia (sp?)) was the best guide we had in Costa Rica! (Millia suggested & arranged a catamaran trip for the next day that was also a LOT of fun). Although the taxi to and from Quepos was about $10 one way (and a little more for Manuel Antonio) it was readily available and what we spent on taxis was more than made up for by what we saved on the room! Breakfast is included (indeed I think Kayak is deemed to be a B&B) and Marlene and her assistants prepared a delicious spread - complete with homemade guava jam! Also included gallo pinto, watermelon, pineapple, fried plantain, eggs, toast, etc. Mangrove tour was also fun. Highly recommend the Kayak Lodge. It was a little far from the "action" but we had dinner in Quepos at the marina both nights and don't feel like we missed much by being a little farther out!
The beach Room smelled like mildew, I had a view of behind the bar (sink,workers,dishes)..not a good experience at all!!!!
Hotel Verde Mar is a great property located on the beach and walking distance to Manuel Antonio National Park. The Rooms are spacious and very clean and the hotel staff were great! We saw monkeys, sloths and iguanas on site.
