A very interesting converted Monastery, with a working water wheel. The restaurant food was good but not much choice The ensuite bathroom was a disaster. The basin was at an angle, the tap was plumbed incorrectly ie hot from the cold tap and semi cold from the hot tap. the shower mixer even in the cold position was too hot and the water leaked past the shower screen, resulting in a wet floor and extensive wood rot on the door frame.
stayed here during Gran Premio, my husband attended the race and I stayed at the Monasterio and worked on my studies for my degree. Free use of wifi, comfortable, quiet, relaxing setting. The sound of the water from the 'Rueda' help lull me to sleep........... It was quite in the middle of no where...not many options for dinner if you did not want anything from the restaurant on site. I did have dinner there twice and it was quite delicious...
Calm of enviroment; nice service; good food and restaurant; good attitude of the hotel staff.
It was very peaceful and relaxing. The building has been rennovated to a high standard the food was good. The menu is very repetitive. They have the same 3 starters and 3 main dishes for lunch and dinner for a week!!! This mean staying for more then a couple of days becomes a chore food wise as you get little variety.
The remoteness and the history of the monastery. The staf in the restaurant and the security of the area. Wifi areas could have been more widespread.
The setting, the buildings, the atmosphere, the facilieties Difficuklt to find, the wifi internet did not function - at least with our (2) PC's
nbad smell in corridoro hot water.
Friendly staff. Resonable, no-nonsense facilites. Inexpensive but honest food. (homemade pizza esp good!). There is not much else to do in Sastago!
Very reasonable price for food and drink.
I stayed only one night, arriving "late" in the evening. My spanish being poor, the staff was very patient and helpful.
It was OK and adequately served its purpose. Having an en-suite was a benefit and these days is essential anyway. I just wish I could speak Spanish because in this area, without knowledge of the language, you are effectively isolated. Noisy, especially with other guests (women?) click-clacking in high heels along the corridors in the early hours, with no respect for other residents. Also smoky - my 1st floor room was above the main bar/lounge. And Sastago is certainly a village that is off the beaten track... It was 52kms from where I needed to be, but that was my problem and in no way was it a fault of the hotel. So I have answered 'yes' to recommending this hotel, providing you do not mind travelling.
