Place looked good. Really Clean. Grounds too big. Too much walked by to get anywhere. Staff pretends to care but really doesn't Beware of the tours they are very misleading Not a whole lot too do on the massive grounds Very reminiscent of a low budget cruise ship. A lot of money spent on beauty of hotel but not anything that benefits the guest. Food ok at best No beach besides the man made one. Which is not actually on the beach. The ruins look man made and there are rocks all along the real beach. Don't expect sand. There is none. Don't expectt any major benefit to staying here because of proximity to Excaret. There isn't a major benefit because you have to pay extra for Xcaret just like anyone else would. The unlimited experience is a trap to get you to go for 3 days. Don't waste your 350.00. I could go on and on. We complained about things to staff to no concern
Very nice and relaxing! All the outlets in our rooms did not work well.
The staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The rooms was very clean, comfortable and spacious. There was also ample supply of pool chairs towels and drinks. I never felt like I had to fight other guests for any of these things.
Beautiful Location A very nice resort in a beautiful location. The grounds were large enough to have lots of activity...or find quiet areas to relax
The restaurants and the pool areas No shuttle service to get to and from town and the airport
The Resort was GREAT! Plenty of food and drink. There are many restaurants to choose from and wide variety of foods. The buffets were good, plenty of selections. The five specialty restaurants were very good with the Tapas at the top of the list for us. The staff... WOW!! they were GREAT. Very friendly and helpful. The And there were bars everywhere to satisfy your thirst. The wifi was spotty. And the beach was very rocky. You needed water shoes to get in without hurting your feet. There are only a few spots without the rocks.
You can't possibly find nicer people. The staff is extremely friendly and as accommodating as possible. Great atmosphere for families, or with a significant other -definitely not for you if you are single. Beautiful location and maintained pretty well. Great poolside bartenders! Resort almost completely shuts down by 10pm no matter what night of the week. Found ourselves bored which is unfortunate considering we chose this place due to the amount of activities and what we thought would be nightlife. The food was horrible. At every restaurant....even with the privilege option. Good value, great location and people but wouldn't return due to the food.
Walk up to any bar and get a drink (well of course, top shelf extra) FOR FREE! Well, it's included. Needed more dedicated adults only sections/pools.
staff was very courteous and service was good and speedy. i thought the recreation was poor. i thought the it was a beach front hotel and the little beach was tiny and water sports were only allowed in a boring little lagoon. so i did get a little bored. also, breakfast was a very poor selection and the receptionist booking ala cart restaurants was very rude.
- Friendliness of Staff - Quality of Food at the buffets - Excellent snorkeling and swimming with turtles - A la carte restaurants - Spring breakers - way too many loud and obnoxious spring breakers here - avoid March and April!
The food was pretty good. The staff were nice. The inability to get reservations at a reasonable time, especially when your friends would tell you there were many empty tables.
The facilities are awesome. Great Beach, Bars, Restaurants, and Pools. Kids had a blast. The staff at the front desk and premium desk were horrible. Not friendly and not helpful at all. For such a nice, luxury hotel this is unacceptable. We also experienced unhappy staff at some of the outdoor bars and of all people the girl handing out the towels. If you don't get a dinner reservation which at times is difficult even though the restaurants are never full (funny because you try to book a reservation at a prime time, the staff says they are completely booked), you have to suffer through the awful dinner buffet. The entire management staff at this hotel should be fired or retrained on how to be helpful and polite.
The location, the staff and the quei nature of the place. No bar facilities after 1500.
Everything: spa, room, the quality of the service, the welcome and friendliness of the staff a bit far from the beach
The architecture of a "Hacienda" style hotel made it seem quaint and inviting. Breaskfast food was made to order or buffet style and delicious. Filthy dirty floors in the hotel room; no clock(took 6 calls and 3 days before we received one that didn't work and then one that worked); no top sheet on your bed; stained towels; stained bed comforters; hairdryer didn't work; ants on the table where you eat by the pool; over 100 small tiles missing on the pool floor; waterfall doesn't work; building is need of repairs; very thin walls; slow guest services; toilet seat didn't fit; needed to hold toilet handle down to flush;
The hotel is located away from the city & the beach. The only transportation way is to use a taxi. For golf it is maybe excellent. 3 of 6 days of our stay was the pool unusable for cleaning. Walking to the city took about 40 minutes....
Location-friendly staff Internet- breakfast-room insulation- ask first before you do anything
Great place to stay on a budget...Hotel is 10 year old...Hotel room was fine, but dont stay in room 311-1...Next to water pump which makes a loud noise and can disturb your sleep...If you plan on going into town it is a 20 minute walk or take a cab for around $5...The spa looks like it has not been maintained very well...The restaurant attached to the spa is closed....The jacuzzi doesn't work very well...but the steam and sauna work very well and are nice...The place overall is very safe and quiet and right on the golf course...If you can put up with things that aren't perfect and service a little less than desire...This can be a great place to stay on the cheap if you just need a place to relax...Just don't expect 4 or 5 star service...
Very good breakfast, very nice swimming pool. For 40 euros a very good choise. It is half hour walking (in nice surrounding) to the center. For us no problem, but it maybe for other people this may be a disadvantage. There is no service of food and drinks after 3 o'clock PM, but 10 minutes walking from the hotel you ' ll find restaurants ( and an OXXO), so that was no problem for us, but it maybe for other people.
The Hotel has a nice look and an amazing pyramid on the entrance. However the pyramid is the SPA not the hotel. Breakfast is good. My room was very comfortable with a tub on it There was a wet smell on the room, we asked for a 2 double bed room and they gave us a queen bed room (we are traveling with a baby). In the last night we lost the hot water and I called the receptionist to complain. After 2 hours no return and I decided to walk for it. The receptionist suggested us to shower the baby next morning... freaky, huh? By the way, baby was full of sun lotion. Anyway, we recommend this hotel however it was below our expectation
Excellent service and friendliness of staff Beach access wasn't in walking distance.
The grounds are beautiful, impeccably cleaned, the jungle animals are fun to watch. Nothing I would change
The accommodations were wonderful; rooms were beautiful. The evening restaurants were good. The grounds are beautifully kept. We enjoyed the evening showing and the pool/beach activities. Easy 10 minute walk to PlayaCar for souvenirs. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was only so so. There is no hair conditioner in the bathrooms. Our room had mosquitos but once reported they fumigated and then no other bug issues inside.
The beach and pool are amazing and HUGE! The food in the restaurants was excellent. The food at the buffet was good. They did a great job of trying to include foods at the buffet that would appeal to guests from all countries, and it gave us a chance to try different foods that we would never typically order in a restaurant. There were always snacks and ice cream available by the pool, which was great. The entertainment staff, Star Friends, was amazing! They work around the clock to entertain the guests and always seem to have activities, games, or shows going on that are actually entertaining, whether you're participating or just watching. The nightly shows were a bit hit or miss, but they get an A+ for effort and enthusiasm. For some of the shows, they brought in professional dancers or entertainers and those were excellent. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The refrigerator was restocked daily with water, soda, and beer. The drinks were weak, but we liked that since we could drink all day at the beach and all night at the bars without being too affected by the alcohol! The disco was a great place to listen to music and relax at night after the shows. It wasn't very busy when we were there, but the bartenders were amazing and so friendly! We never felt pressured to tip anyone, and they almost seemed surprised when we did tip them. Overall, our trip was amazing! This did not bother me, but it is not a fancy "luxury" resort, so people with extremely high standards or expensive taste might want to stay elsewhere.
The Iberostar Tucan / Quetzal is one of my favorite resorts in the Mexican Rivera Maya. The dining buffets are fine, and there's always some food offered that you've never tried. It's fun to experiment with new tastes. This was my fourth visit. The staff are very courteous and speak several languages. The fun begins with the jungle in the center of the resort. A large canopy of trees with well lit winding paths takes you from your room to the waterfront pools. New additions this year included a balcony overlooking the flamingo pond, a boardwalk in the center of the jungle, and a new waterfall with Mayan statues hidden in the rocks. The wild animals living in the jungle run free and appear tame, but you are warned not to feed them. Peacocks are everywhere, and you can get some great photos of the males spreading out their huge feathers. If you stay near buildings 14 and 13 expect to have howler monkeys swinging through the treetops to get to their feeding areas. They wake up at dawn with ferocious howls that remind you that, yes, you are far from home and now in a tropical paradise. A surprise this time was the renovation of one of the buffet restaurants, what was once an intimate rustic buffet is now a separated modern glass and steel food service area with a longer walk to your table. I preferred the rustic design but was told Iberostar plan to remodel the other buffet restaurants with the same bright white modern sterile design.
