We were upgraded on the room, so the view of the lake from the balcony was stunning, as was the furnishing of the suite. The proprietors were exceptionally helpful.
Wonderful balcony! Splendid view! Fantastic room!
If you need to stay in Murten, this is an excellent choice because of the location. This is an update to my previous review to change it from rather negative to positive. The item initially was mailed not as a package, but as a regular mail in an ordinary envelope. The envelope broke and that delayed delivery beyond the point I left the country. I have to say that the management went out of their way to remedy the situation and eventually shipped the item to my home country.
This hotel is in an excellent location on the shores of the veery pretty lake of Murten with phantastic views over the lake, the small boat harbour and the surrounding hilly countryside. The restaurant terrace overlooks the lake.Murten is an exquisite historic small town, well worth a visit.
The hotel was too expensive for what it was, we were given an upgrade to a room with a 70' style decor and a massive circular bed. Bathroom very old and hot water was off and on.Rooms definately need to be refurbished.
The Hotel is right on the historic centre, which is great. The serre in the breakfastroom gives a breathtaking view of lac Morat. The room was ok, and clean. I would have liked to have the possibility to make coffee and tea in the room. The bathroom was clean, but had no lock on the door.
Hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Hotel was a bit expensive. Next time I might by pass the town of Murten and stay in Avenches.
The location none
The room design was different and pleasant. The reception staff were very good, helpful and friendly. Some of the furniture is relatively old and in my opinion could do with a change.
The location of the hotel situated by Lake Murtens is quite nice. I would have rated the hotel as 2 or 2 and half * instead of the 3*. The hotel does not have AC, at night the mosquitoes swarmed into the room if we open the windows and the room gets stuffy and hot if we close the windows. The screen still allowed the mosquitoes to get into the room. The towels were thin, worn out, cover was haevy, a weird smell in the room and decor is spartan for a 3* hotel
Extraordinary location, a fairy tale like village
Location We received a 40SF fine at 7:40 am for parking on the side of the street overnight in front of the hotel as recommended by the staff person even after I questioned it. She said it would be OK until 10 am.They agreed to take responsibility for the fine since we were misinformed. Furthermore, no one was around until after 10:30 am to settle this - the same reason we were asked to pay in full for 2 days when we first arrived - the desk is rarely staffed. Our room was also changed from 24 to 14. This room required opening a door off the hall and walking between the open washer/dryer room and a draped off laundry area before reaching our door. No explanation was given other than it had been changed. This was not a 3 star experience.
Located in the heart of the town Was looking forward to seeing which of the fancy painted rooms we were going to get only to find we had a beige room. Not happy about that at all. Whole of the floor creaked when walking across it.
Good location in the heart of medieval town, easy to reach from highway (about 5min). Very well equipped room with very comfortable bed. Food options limited to Flammkueche, but the Irish Tavern has all the drinks you want. Breakfast ok. And last but not the least: the staff at the Tavern is unforgettable. I wish I had more time to spend there...
