Prós: The lobby looks beautiful but it can't help my experience staying at this hotel
Contras: No AC, my room even don't have a ceiling fan and I have to request a fan.
The photo of the lobby is trying to seduce us to think the hotel is that good but it is NOT.
The room is small, old although the shared bathroom is quite clean ( better than the private one)
We got a room with private bathroom so the room is so small and we don't even have enough space to walk. The bathroom is really old although clean
Prós: Cool setting a little different could be really good
Contras: Old elevators slow and half the time out of order. Rooms small but comfortable.
Prós: The decor was the highlight of the stay. I was only in for a night but that didn't stop the service from giving their best.
Contras: I was on the first floor right on the street and I mean right on the street. The noise wasn't an issue as much as the people on the sidewalk looking right in my room. The tv didn't work. I found this out after coming home late and felt it eccentric to call to have it fixed at 2 am especially when you're only there for 1 night. Lastly, there were ants in my room. They got into some of my things and I had to throw away some toiletries. Refund for only a partial amount of what I payed. They handled the situation at check out even though I called around 9am and was told they would send someone right away.
Prós: The industrial chic decor was remarkable. We felt like we were exploring and discovering as we'd take closer looks at vintage registers, a wood+leather ping pong table, or various London phonebooths.
And the staff, whether at the desk, from housekeeping, or from the restaurant/bar Mundo were all kind and communicative.
Our room, while not spacious, was comfortably setup/decorat ed. The quirky lamps allowed for subtle lighting. And the shower was large/luxurious. We would definitely go back.
Contras: Small details that we wished would be different: the sheets could be softer, the bathroom trashcan could be quieter/silent (it's the pedal-lid kind), and the fragrance (like cologne) in the lobby is entirely too powerful. We also wished there was something approximating room service: where our order at Mundo could be brought up to our room instead of us having to pick it up. That would've probably made us feel quite pampered. :)
Prós: Clean rooms, great staff, convenient location to trains and to local attractions like the museum of the moving image, great service.
Contras: Shower was not clean enough.
Prós: Got a good long term discount on the room. Nice coffee downstairs. Restaurant closed for renovations much of the time I was there, which was disappointing. Room bright and clean and comfortable. Right on top of the subway, though lots of repairs and delays when I was in town.
Contras: Housekeeping could have been a little more meticulous. Sometimes things weren't replaced.
Prós: The place was great with a funky decor. Clean with comfy beds. Bar and restaurant in hotel a bonus! Easy enough on weekends to find off street parking. Not sure if it was as easy during week
Contras: Construction on our side of building starting at 6am!! Cannot sleep with that noise!
Prós: The hotel and staff were very nice. The hotel scenery was awesome and it always smelled good. Our room was clean. It was really close to the subway station and a short ride to the city. Its also close to a cool town called Astoria with bars and little restaurants and its also super close to La Guardia airport. The area around it is not the nicest and I wouldn't walk by myself but it wasn't too bad. There's an awesome lil coffee shop next door called All American II Coffee Shop & Deli that serve up a mean grilled cheese with bacon and $1 hot coffees. But for the hotels.com price of $122/night it was really worth it.
Contras: Everything was good except for our bed. It was the squeakiest, loudest bed I have ever slept on. And yes, the walls are very thin so when my neighbors phone rang it sounded like my phone rang next to my bed. Not a great place to stay if you are newlyweds, light sleepers, or enjoy privacy.
Prós: The staff was friendly and courteous, good live music at Mundo a restaurant they have downstairs. They have a communal kitchen on he 4th floor (convenient for some not for all) and a decent gym on the 2nd floor. They have good eco friendly toiletries
Contras: The room was small and the air conditioner didn't work. It turned on but I didn't feel an change. The elevator is a little creaky and there's no mini fridge in the room.
Prós: Good location with many shops and resteraunts around
Prós: Comfy rooms, Beakfast
Contras: We were mislead regarding Shuttle times and also Ferry schedules by the staff when reserving the room. Having to leave early on a saturday morning we were told the shuttle and Ferry were active. In reality they were not causing us an additional cost of almost 100.00. In addition one of the shuttle drivers assured us he would be available for a pick up after 10.30. we called at 10.25 for a pick up from the Ferry landing and were told no way- extra wait and xtra cost
Prós: The breakfast in the mornings was well done.
Contras: The service was terrible. If we needed anything, like extra towels, we had to go get them ourselves from the housekeeping area. The room we were given did not have a luggage rack, but when I went down to get one, the staff did not no where another one would be, and instead offered me a trash can to use! The first room they gave us had been heavily smoked in, though it was supposed to be nonsmoking. They did give us another room, but it was filthy. The floors were sticky and there was hair on the couch and bed. The guy at the front desk said "Yeah, sometimes that happens." Will not be staying here again!
Prós: Boa localização com muitas lojas e restaurantes
Prós: Breakfast was great, varied and fresh. For the price, it's an excellent stay if all you're looking for is staying the night and going to Manhattan all day long. The subway station is a block away and, while the neighborhood might be somewhat sketchy, we never had any issues coming back late at night. The staff was great, specially Stephanie, and the rooms were clean and beds were comfy.
Contras: The only "bad" thing I'd say about the place is that if you're driving in, it will cost you $25 dollars a day to keep your car parked there, but that's a cheap alternative to parking in NYC.
Prós: Great location and friendly staff
Contras: The room was very small, request where not granted even after being promised and breakfast was too early.
Contras: Parking too expensive
Prós: I found the rooms clean with comfortable beds, and furniture attractive and in good condition.
I found the rooms were quiet. I was concerned noise would be an issue since I was adjacent to the exit door and across from the breakfast room. I did hear the door close and open but the sound was fairly unintrusive.
Contras: Some confusion re: the room cost. This might have been a KAYAK issue, but it was fairly easily remedied, and the person at the desk was apologetic and professional.
Parking could have been difficult (I was VERY lucky to get a spot right outside the front door), but that is to be expected in NYC. If I hadn't gotten the spot, I would have been charged an extra $25 (per day? per stay?), a fee I was unprepared for.
Prós: close to metro station. Nice breakfeast. Nice staff on restaurant and room maid.
Contras: don't take private taxi from hotel. US$40 flat to go JFK. Front desk said yellow cab will cost more than 50!!! Not good information, despite driver was friendly.
Prós: The pool and spa area was old, but served its purpose. Great breakfast dining area, but the buffet area was so packed in the morning, I couldn't squeeze in just to grab a scone.
Contras: Super loud. They put our family of 3 (with a 3 yr old) directly across the hall from some sort of male adult gathering. Doors closing/slamming all night. Someone knocked on our door in the middle of the night and woke me up. Way too much activity - the staff never should have put us on the same floor and in the same vicinity as the group on our end of the hall.
Prós: We were given a smoke room although when we on line checked in the night before and specified the arriving time. Not again stay there.
Contras: We were given a smoke room although when we on line checked in the night before and specified the arriving time. Not again stay there.
Prós: Quiet, they picked me up at rental car location, clean, nice stagf
Contras: Nothing, liked it all
Prós: Friendly staff;helpful.
Prós: The bed was huge and everything appeared to be spotless. All the staff members were very professional.
Contras: This isn't really the hotel's fault, but the shuttle was MIA. Make sure to call from the airport when looking for transport. This was a pretty bad time for the weather so it may not be a problem normally.
Contras: Front desk and management were rude and not helpful. Our room was not ready by our 630 pm arrival and we were told to wait. After no room by 7 pm an argument ensued with no kindness. After several requested to speak to management....no one came to speak with us to learn of our concerns. Aside from a very kind and competent bartender the stay was not pleasant.
Prós: The room is big and clean. Very confortay
Contras: You can hear other peoples conversation. Unfortunately, we had to hear another couple in their intimacy whoch was very awful.
Prós: Shuttle service and breakfast. Other than that the rooms and facilities were pretty ordinary.
Contras: There was no bottled water available in the room nor was it available in any of the vending machines parked at each floor. The hotel shop what presumably carried closed two hours before published time outside the shop. Finally I had to purchase expensive water from the hotel bar.
Prós: courtesy of staff
proximity to airport
Prós: I liked that checkin was quick and painless and the room was spacious and clean.
Contras: The room was pitch black and turning on the hall switch was dim. Had to use my phone to find the lamp switch.
Prós: Proximity to LaGuardia airport with free shuttle.
Neat and clean.
Convenient buffet breakfast at reasonable price.
Prós: Clean and spacious
Contras: Had a big issue getting the shuttle from the airport. They left us there for 1.5 hours eventually took a 4 minute Uber. Management was totally unresponsive to the problem.
Contras: Mattresses need to be replaced. Very noisy after midnite. Security was called. I don't know if they ever came as noise stayed loud for a long time. Also noisy early in the morning.
Prós: Loved the free shuttle, all of the staff was extremely nice, rooms were clean and updated, love that we were able to have an early morning check in.
Prós: There isn't anything that I didn't like. The shuttle service back and forth to the airport was quick and comfortable. The room was extremely neat and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The food was great, all of the staff, and especially Jasmine who helped me put together a special event, went above and beyond attending to all my needs and the needs of the guests that met me for dinner. The Sunday brunch was a wonderful change, and everyone there was very attentive. There aren't enough stars in the rating for this!
Contras: Absolutely nothing.
Contras: I cancelled my hotel more than 48 hours in advance. After I cancelled it, I saw that they had a no cancellation policy. Since they would not refund my money, I asked them to reinstate my room. They refused to reinstate it and so I had to book accommodations at a different hotel. So basically they took my money and refused to give me a room.
Prós: The staff were great, the area was perfect, and the walk from the train, and to restaurants was not bad at all- there's a free hourly shuttle too but we preferred walking. The price was very reasonable.
Contras: There was some construction going on, but it wasn't that noticeable and the club and traffic is audible- that may bother light sleepers...
Prós: The only positive aspect of the hotel was that the wedding we were attending was at The Foundry. The other positive aspect was the girl that helped with my luggage. She was very courteous and helpful.
Contras: The hotel was under construction and there were no clear signs indicating where to park or where to enter for the main lobby. I drove around the hotel 4 times until I finally called them to get information. You had to find your own parking on the street since there was no valet when I arrived at 4:30 PM. I actually had to call the hotel to inquire about the check in process and the location and called the front desk for the gentleman to come out and get some of my bags. When we went up to the room, there were flies and my husband actually killed about 10 of them. He called the front desk requesting a fly swatter and received no help. We also came back from the wedding and checked out that evening without staying overnight. The bar in the hotel became a nightclub and was very noisy and crowded. We also smelled marijuana in the stairwell of our floorl. It was a very disappointing stay and we will not be paying for our stay there and have requested a refund. Until they finish the construction, they should offer severely reduced rates. I definitely do not recommend this hotel. Stay in Manhattan over the bridge. Might be more reliable.
Prós: The best thing about the Ravel is it's proximity to mid town. A free shuttle or 10 minute walk to the nearest subway and you are two stops away from the heart of the city. For half the price of a comparable room in Manhattan you get almost the exact same convenience.
Contras: Long Island City is still very much an industrial area. The walk to the subway is past many warehouses and the area is kind of trashed. Fortunately all the streets stay pretty lit up but there is litter all over and you have to switch street sides because of construction.
Prós: The rooms are spacious and beautiful, very clean and up to date. The feel of the hotel overall is very trendy and modern. I would come again any time hands down
Contras: Because of the intense cold (and not so great insulation) the hall way and restaurant on the first floor were on the chilly side. I know it's petty stuff, but I just thought that being indoors would allow me to walk around without a jacket or sweater, and though I did, I regretted it right away because I was cold.
Prós: Free Shuttle Rides to local areas and substations. Extremely friendly staff. Very Accommodating. There was a little construction going on locally but hotel fully accomidated any and all needs.
Contras: The club on the roof top during the weekend was a little unexpected went until 3/4 if you are trying to sleep at a decent time this place isn't recommended for the weekend.
Prós: Good location
Contras: The hotel was run down requiring millions in renovations. The rooms were unsanitary in every respect. The furniture was terribly stained with cigarette burns all over the couch and chair. The desk was badly damaged. Lamp shades were stained and walls scraped all over with black scuff marks all over the white walls. I had to check out. They wouldn't refund my money but I had no choice.
Prós: If you are on duty for business in Manhattan and it is the firm who pays for fancy but tiny hotel room for you downtown then after the meeting ends you realize that it's not worth the money if you want to extend your stay for a couple of days more on your own budget, this one is the perfect match! You'll get nice view of the city , easy access to public transportations , shuttle service oh..and the rooms are huge and classy with less pay!
Contras: The rooms, NYC view from the rooftop restaurant, and the restaurant itself, staff are super nice, no-rip-off private car service to JFK.
Prós: Spacious rooms compared to Manhattan hotels
Contras: Some of the clientele were just trashy. There was a couple making out in the lobby right when you walked in at night granted the hotel does have a rooftop lounge that the locals treat as trashy Queens club, but it was a Sunday night, and the lounge was closed so you can't blame it on the alcohol. Room designer seemed to be obsessed with positioning fixtures in the upper right hand corner, which is ok I guess with certain things but not lighting fixtures. And last time I checked an electrical outlet should be by the sink, not above the toilet bowl, unless they consider there guests really hardcore multi-taskers that can shave and blow dry whilst...well you know
Prós: The location to get to downtown Manhattan was great. You can take the tunnel or the bridge and get there relatively quickly.
When I asked for the car service, the car was on time and the driver very courteous (I used them every day for a week).
The Rooftop view of the Manhattan skyline is terrific.
I felt the hotel was very secure and safe.
Contras: Did not like my room. I stayed in 106 which is on first floor right outside the elevator and main hall (room 105 is also located there). They have recently added a second door inside the room to help keep down the outside noise but it did little good between 5am and 9am each morning. The hotel has obviously had complaints about the noise or they would not have added the interior door with a sign as to why the door was there (noise). The elevator doors were constantly opening/closing and the cleaning staff were busy getting their carts to each of the other floors to begin maid services. Not to mention the numerous people coming down to get to breakfast and the chatter. The room itself was dirty and was in desperate need of a paint job. I realize they saved the top renting units for the top buyers but for what I did pay (which was not cheap) I was greatly disappointed.
As I stated in the pro's of the hotel, the rooftop view was incredible, but they have little to no seating to enjoy the skyline unless you want to sit in the covered restaurant, which greatly obscures the views. They had closed off the very top seating area on top of the restaurant the second night I was there. When I asked the hostess why, she had no reason to give and eventually allowed me to sneak up there to enjoy the night views and relax but made sure to close off the stairway access behind me so that no one else would go up there.
Contras: A hotel known for its view put me on the ground floor across from the elevator where I could hear everything. Bathroom had a roach and was filthy. Manager only offered to have someone in and clean. Overpriced for an experience I could have had at a Motel 6.
Prós: more parking
Contras: hard to get too, no subway within walking distance
Prós: The view is about the best thing the hotel offered. View from room was great, roof top view great, roof top open all night for smokers, howevee it was closed cuz of the weather, bed good, pillows good, For 280 a night it beats the prices in Manhattan.
Contras: Shuttle was always overbooked, even when booked in advance they would need to make 2 trips because not all would fit, cleaning never replaced all towels after following leave dirty towels on floor, cleaning didnt replace tissue box after it was empty, the AC did not work, lucky hurricane joaquin was in the area so it dropped temps to the 50's, we had AC set at 65 it was blowing hot air so we had the windows open, food for the price was horrible, we ate at the restaurant 1 night, dinner for 2 with 2 drinks was 140, better off earing cheaper food by the 21st and lexington subway station in long island or venturing out to manhattan where food may well be pricier but will be better.
Prós: Great breakfast buffet for great cost. Exceptional bed and pillows . Outstanding view rooftop (when you can get past the loud obnoxious party at night)
Contras: No pool, party on rooftop goes on too late (4 am) so others can't enjoy the view.
Prós: the view at night was amazing love it. the front desk was very helpful and very attentive I enjoy my stay and we are planning to come back. thank you very much for the accommodation.
Prós: The decor of the rooms was quite interesting. The bathroom shower did not really have a door and the door to the bathroom is a massive glass slab that moves backwards and forwards, very modern in design. Water was nice and hot, a/c worked wonderfully and I loved that they had a free shuttle to take you to Manhattan every hour! The complimentary breakfast each morning didn't have a large selection but it was still nice, brunch on the rooftop is a must! Great view of the city skyline as well.
Contras: On our last night stay, house keeping never came although we requested housekeeping. Small mini fridge, you won't really be able to put anything in it, not only is it filled with mini bar items, it's about two inches deep before you hit the back of it so don't count on storing leftovers!
Prós: We chose this hotel for the view, but actually the hotel offers many others advantages, shuttle bus super efficient, bikes, good breakfast, amazing rooftop with bar/club. In the room you can find everything you could
Contras: We couldn't control the heater, whichapparently didn't work, I was cold the whole night.
Prós: Obviously prettymuch the only reason to come here are the views of Manhattan, which are pretty spectacular, especially at night.
I've heard the roof deck is pretty awesome when it's open.
Contras: I don't know if it's possible for the staff to have cared less. Moody and weird and check in, didn't let us know about the included breakfast (had to go back down and ask and they never gave us th voucher we apparently needed). Like a bunch of teenage boys running the place.
FYI this building basically doesn't have a back...like no real walls, so if that freaks you out... It also makes it incredibly cold and the thermostat in the room is just some kind of placebo effect trick as it does nothing.
Everything, especially the bathroom, was a bit dingy. One of the worst values at a hotel for the money I paid.
Prós: rien a dire très bon séjour dans cet hôtel
quartier calme, vue magnifique de la chambre, personnel très agréable, un très bon service de navette avec des chauffeurs très gentils
service café libre service le matin
que des points positif.
Contras: Ended up leaving the hotel at 2:30 am the first night since we were unable to sleep due to extremely loud music from a roof party which ended at 4:00 am. We'll never return and we'll never recommend it. First time in my life that I had to leave a hotel.
Prós: I liked the view of Manhattan from my bedroom, the location, and free shuttle into the city. While the hotel clearly caters to tourists, there is room for a business traveller who is somewhat flexible with her or his time.
Contras: The hallways outside of the rooms can be fairly noisy and loud.
Prós: It was a great price for weekend, nice breakfast quick and friendly check in
Contras: Woke up to a bed bug bite on forearm also found bug crawling on pillow case. Searched bed but only found the one. Really was unsatisfied by the incident .
Prós: Quiet clean
Prós: I had a layover of a night at JFK, I booked this hotel for a reasonable price and it did not dissapoint me. there was a free hotel shuttle to and from the airport which was convenient. staff was nice. Hotel was very clean. did not check the surroundings as I slept and left early next morning.
Prós: It was ok for the price. We got what we paid.
Contras: I liked that it was close to the subway. The flat screen tv. There was a puertorrican driver who was very helpful and friendly. I don't remember his name. Thanks
Prós: Great view of river and bridges. Responsive staff.
Contras: Limited dining options.
Prós: Pleasant atmosphere just across the bridge from Manhattan. We rented CityBike bicycles outside the hotel and rode across the Queensborough Bridge to Central Park. Took about 45 minutes one-way but good exercise and a fun and different way to experience NYC.
Contras: Our room was on the first floor very close to the reception desk. In the mornings, it was a bit noisy outside our room - but only the first two first floor rooms are close - ask for different rooms if you get them.
Prós: This hotel was what we needed it to be. We were visiting family in LIC and just needed lodging, we were not spending a lot of time here. This was perfect for that.
Contras: They have extremely minimal vending. After getting in for the night, my husband wanted a soda. They had 1 machine with a very limited selection of cans. Since you need to walk several blocks to find a store, this had to do. Also, on our second day, we returned to the hotel at 5:30 PM to rest and clean up and housekeeping had not yet been to our room. They came to clean our room at 7:00. We found this odd and inconvenient.
Contras: The shuttle to and from the subway station was not running. The staff provided no apologies or a reason why it was not running.
Prós: The restaurant was closed for renovation - we would never have booked this hotel had we known otherwise. This was never mentioned on the hotel website. The diner next door was hardly an fair substitute.
Room #701 - shower head needs to be replaced. The hotel was quick to bring in a repair man who told us that it need to be replaced - his temporary fix, not his problem, did not hold. Showering was extremely awkward.
Contras: The view.
Prós: It's very nice hotel
It's located in very silent area with no traffic too much
All facilities are available near by surrounding of this hotel
Prós: Excelente vista do rio e pontes. A equipe responsivo.
Contras: It was a fairly long check in process and then I reached my room which was quite dirty. There was clearly life on the bed and lots of long hairs on the bathroom floor. Then they tried to say they didn't have more room spot when they came up and saw my room and they ended up finding one .
Not the best experience!
Prós: Nice, clean and comfortable. Friendly and accommodating staff. Convenient to several malls, Citi Field, great Asian food and the 7 train. Breakfast was great! Pork buns plus some usual doughnuts and bagels. Realize you are in "new Chinatown". Little English at restaurants and cash only in several places.
Contras: Smaller room than expected but plenty of space for just sleeping. Walls were a bit thin. Room cleaning service seemed to come at random times and often we were in the room so they would just not come in. Ended up asking for replacement towels, toiletries, etc.
Prós: The hotel staff was very friendly. The breakfast was great! It's a couple of blocks from the subway. There's a mall across the street. Close to LaGuardia Airport, about $15 cab fare. The hotel room was small but tolerable.
Contras: The area is not great. I never felt unsafe but I would definitely recommend staying in Manhattan or Brooklyn if you could afford it. Many restaurants in the area only had menus in Chinese. Very few places took cards so I would recommend bringing a good amount of cash.
Prós: Front desk service was very nice very helpful very kind and very knowledgeable and willing to assure me that they will be there
Contras: The cleaning personnel's wasn't that Ferrell of cleaning did not replace my soaps had to purchase new soap for was a vacuum properly bathrooms was that white down either
Contras: Horrible . Gym flooded while I was in it and the gm- Zoe, was there and didn't even apologize, I had to tell her leave and unplug the wires before someone gets hurt. Unbelievable.
Prós: It was quiet and cozy. Staff was friendly.
Contras: Room was smaller than I expected. Cleaning staff had left bag of old linens in hallway all day.
Prós: Complimentary water in fridge, pork buns for breakfast, close proximity to great authentic food, great service for transportation to outside venues
Prós: I found a great deal and decided to book this place. It's location is great! The train ride into the city took us 15 min. I have never been to Long Island City but we explored it our last night and have to admit it was such a cute town. The beds are also very comfortable and they give lots of pillows. Breakfast is included.
Contras: Breakfast was pretty limited but the waffles are great! The shower head is a little dodgy but other than that everything is fine. Though there isn't much of a view and we stayed on the 8th floor
Prós: It was a regular Comfort Inn in Queens, so while it was a pretty clean, comfy, place to stay, don't expect too many frills.
The room was a decent size, with a good bed, and good shower. The staff was friendly, and it was close to a few different subway lines.
Contras: Since I went there knowing it was a regular Comfort Inn, I wasn't disappointed by anything.
The towels could have been a bit better. One of them had a small hole and the washing it had gotten hadn't totally removed the make-up stains left by one of the previous guests.
Prós: The room was on the small side but the king size bed very comfortable. We had a great night sleep. The bathroom amenities were nice with plush towels. Would not stay in this area unless you need to be close to the airport. This hotel suited our purpose for a 1 night stay to catch a flight the next day.
Contras: I checked in online and requested a quiet room but received a room on the 2nd floor facing a street were construction work was taking place. Although not overly noisy during the time we were there, the lack of attention to detail disappointed me.
Prós: The price was right, and the shower was hot
Contras: My family and I waited am hour for our room to get ready. We arrived @ 7:30pm. Why on earth would we need to wait an hour at that time? ? Bed was very uncomfortable and TV needed to be adjusted by an engineer to be used. We requested extras pillows, and they did not have any.
This property is shady at best. It is in the ghetto, and I cannot believe it is a Crown Plaza! Fresh paint and new carpet cover up a very substandard operation.
Prós: Very close to JFK, shuttle convenient once you take the air train from JFK to Federal Circle. Need work on room service.
Contras: The number of people, including employees, clustered by the front door smoking like chimneys and blocking door access because it was raining. A huge turnoff right at the outset. The bathroom shower tile floor was sketchy, broken and uneven, so dirty water collected by the door entry. Room service forgot my entree when they delivered it. For the prices they charge for the food, they should have comp'd it, but instead they called me to apologize. 3 separate times, and AFTER I had fallen asleep.
Prós: It was very close to the airport and the staff were very nice.
Contras: Although the hotel looks like it may have been renovated not long ago, there were many things about the room that looked shabby. Peeling and bubbling paint on the bathroom ceiling, frayed and and ripped carpet and the one and only hook in the bathroom to hang anything on was pulled out of the wall and just barely hanging on. It would have pulled completely out had we put anything on it.
Prós: Great staff, great location, ever think worked, great shuttle service, great food
Contras: No toilet paper holder was found in the bath room, But every thing else was great.
Prós: AIRPORT SHUTTLE. BREAKFEAST.LOCATION TO AIRPORT
Contras: DIFFULTY TO FIND SHUTTE AT JFK AIRPORT
Prós: The hotel was perfect for a stop over between flights at JFK.
Prós: 10 min to the airport, clean room and friendly staff.
Contras: not a luxury place and a bit expensive.
Prós: Comfy hotel that did exactly what it was supposed to do as a layover stop.
Contras: Walls are super thin and the hotel security was in and out of half the rooms on my floor during my one night stay.
Prós: Breakfast was served from 5:00 am. Since we had an early morning flight, we were able to have breakfast before boarding the shuttle to the airport. In many hotels, breakfast is not served until 6:30 am or 7:00 am.
Contras: The shuttle to JFK airport only runs hourly. It should run more often.
Prós: To whom it may concern,
I was dissapointed in my stay for the cost I payed for almost $200.00 a night I would have expected the follow which was not the case:
-Clean and orginized hall ways (maintainance trolly blocking path)
-Clean room with a order free bath room (bath room smell was horrible)
-No one else assigned to my room which at about 02:30 in the morning I had another person enter my room while I was asleep and stated they were assigned the same room! Can you imagine the embarssesment and alarm to wake up to a stranger entering a room where you are half naked and asleep. I called the desk to complain and all i got was I'm sorry! (Really!)
VERY POOR EXPERIENCE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND........
Contras: Limited staff, rooms have a extremely strong odor especially on the first floor. Hard to breathe inside these rooms, I was very frustrated and disappointed overall.
Prós: close to the airport, good price. breakfast was decent. better than most places that offer free breakfast.
Contras: i've been itching non-stop since i checked out. bites all over my body - head to toe. i just hope i didn't bring any home with me.
the shuttle only runs once an hour.
Contras: Parking availabilities
Prós: We had an overnight layover and an early morning flight, so the proximity to JFK and the convenient shuttle service were major considerations. The room was clean with comfortable beds, and the staff were very good, although we were unable to get a receipt because the system was running something when we checked out. The shuttle was speedy and prompt with courteous drivers.
Contras: While the location is convenient to JFK (or maybe because it is), the neighborhood was such that I would not have felt comfortable going outside the hotel alone. It was also right next to the Queens Sanitation Department--that did not impact our stay, but gives you a picture. The hotel could definitely use some updating.
Prós: The nights were somewhat quiet.
Contras: The rooms were to small, the Wifi wasn't working, and slow when it did.
Prós: Close to the airport
Contras: Dirtiest Best Western I have ever stayed at. Staff was rude, rooms smelled dirty (city dump next door), dehumidifiers in hallways to help with musty smell. Floors, towels, bedding, and pillows all need replaced due to stains or holes. Felt like a Motel 6, really disappointed...
Prós: I loved the location, we were surrounded by menu restaurants.
Prós: Location is perfect - one short subway ride to Manhattan. No confusion on uptown or downtown rides with the 7 train. Lots of restaurant choices. Try the food courts inside the nearby malls which provide value for money. Outlet stores for shoes and other apparel are all inside the nearby Target Skyview Center
Contras: Room prices are erratic. Breakfast is good but needs to have alternate menu every other day.
Prós: Location is great and a short drive to both airports and Mahattan.
Excellent in overall cleanliness,
Staffs were very helpful.
Contras: Its parking lot was full most of the time. But a garage across street only charged $15USD per day. Street parking is available but if you have a nice car, don't park on the street.
Prós: Eu amei a localização, fomos rodeado por restaurantes de menu.
Prós: It was reasonably priced with doors inside the building. Also, brand new rooms.
Contras: The garage had 5 spaces, and you fit anything larger than a sadan through the opening, and even then it took a few tries. The hallways smelled like weed, the elevator's down button was broken, there were no sheets for the sofa bed, they ran out of pillows, breakfast was horrible, the waffle maker broke and there really weren't any other options. Something apparently was leaking into the room below ours so they banged on our door every five minutes and would not accommodate our request to wait until we were dressed even though it was still early. There is also nothing nearby. Not worth it, and not going back.
Contras: Air conditioner was very loud. Breakfast was bland. Pics of hotel are from another location
Prós: Price and the fact that had a room open
Contras: Staff very unwelcoming. Sheets had stains on them and not mention the huge stains on the carpet. Shower conditioner was used by last guest. Upon check in was told extending would be no problem the next day, just to call down and be told no then forced to check out with housekeeping banging on my door every couple mins asking me to leave. Overall, if you seen the movie, room 1408, I was there.
Contras: the air blowing from the a/c smelt like feet. no tv. over priced
Contras: No parking. When I asked the desk for a 15 minute late checkout he said "do you know you're like the tenth person to ask me for that today?" My reply was "so is that a no?" In the end I checked out at normal time and housekeeping wasn't even on my foor.
Contras: The room was filthy. Linen was dirty. Couch was broken. Yes there was running water but not much more.
Prós: Great location.
Contras: Extremely dirty, service was awful, the room smelled.
Prós: Absolutely nothing - this preys on unsuspecting tourists lured in by cheap prices and its location. that is some business model AVOID AT ALL COSTS- You most certainly get what you pay for. !!
Contras: Incredibly rude staff ( do you people realize you work in a service industry? Could not change room even after seeing bedbugs in the room and a cockroach in the bathroom .
Prós: The hotel was close to the subway. You could be within the city in minutes. Choice of 7, N, Q lines.
Contras: The "city view" room that I had reserved was a joke. There were plenty of other buildings blocking a good part of the view, and the window itself was small and one could not enjoy the view unless they were standing right at the window looking at a specific angle. Deceptive marketing, beware!
Staff was very short, cold, and not accommodating as you would expect from the hospitality business. I could not understand the staff due to heavy accents of varying origins and broken English.
The room did not include the microwave or refrigerator that was listed during booking. The room was VERY dark, not a lot of lighting.
The breakfast was a joke. There were a couple of maids present but did nothing but just stand on the outside of the room, doing nothing, when the food area was a mess and items needed to be replaced. My partner and I just got a cup of coffee and went back to our room to find someplace to eat instead.
I was born in Queens, so I suppose I should have known better, but I expected a bit more paying $100+ after tax for a night's stay.
Prós: This hotel was a great location to access the subways to get around the area. We used the Air Train from JFK to Jamaica Station then to the E line which will get you to Queens Plaza stop which is near to the hotel. This location was also very close to 2 other stations which allowed us easy and quick access to other subway lines. Just a short walk will get you where you want to go!
Contras: There were many issues wrong with this hotel:
- The staff was very short with their answers and responses. Efficient but not very friendly or welcoming.
- Our bathroom linens were stained and unusable. Thankfully they would leave us more than needed so I could find enough visibly unstained ones for us to use.
- The lighting in our room was so dim that we had to use the tv as a light source to be able to see well enough. Not sure if the bulbs were too low in wattage or what but this was very inconvenient.
- The air unit was so loud when it ran that we wouldn't be able to sleep due to the noise. We turned it off and thankfully the room was warm enough that it was not needed at night.
- Our room looked on the street below and the traffic noise could be heard disturbing out sleep.
- I would only stay here again if it was truly the only place available to stay in this area and would bring my own bath linens!!
I have stayed in hotels costing less than this one and have gotten a much nicer room and better service. Maybe it is due to the area but this is not an acceptable reason for such poor quality or service.
Prós: Close to Subway
Contras: Breakfast food was OK, need better quality
Prós: convienent for our purposes and only 1 nighter
Contras: poor breakfast service due to overcrouded seating
coffee machine too slow an portion too small causing long lines
Contras: It was hard to get anyone to answer the phone.
