Expensive and one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. The first room I was offered was pokey and claustrophobic with limited closet space.Second room larger but bland decorating. No water pressure in shower. Odd shaped, uncomfortable bathtub. Long walk and many stairs both up and down to rooms. No lifts. Far away from public transportation. Requested to speak to manager many times but it didn't happen until the 5th day. Acting manager promised to get back to me, 2 weeks later and still no follow through. Requested maintenance personnel 3 times before they sent someone to sort out an issue. Was like staying at Fawlty towers without the benefit of John Cleese. Restaurant very expensive. Laura Ashley should stay out of the hotel business and stick to design. I am in property management and maintenance with a number of properties. I don't expect to be on vacation and have to spend time and energy on sorting out maintenance issues and chasing after staff while paying THEM a very high price to do it.
Prós: Beautiful old manor house with character and beautiful grounds.
Contras: Atrocious experience. Inefficient staff in desperate need of training. Room not serviced by 5 pm, was told they would take care of it the next day. . No water pressure shower. Inconvenient location.
