Prós: I was in Paris for my birthday and staying at the Shangri-la made it for me! Everything about this place is amazing - top service, views, food, drinks and atmosphere. You simply can't fault the place. I also fell in love with the way the hotel smelled
Contras: Although helpful, I still came away with feeling they wanted to separate guests from their money as quickly as possibly. They were not warm and did not exhibit the hospitality I come to expect from today's hotels. Two examples:
On checking in, I specifically asked for a quiet room away from the elevator. Although the relatively room was quiet it was next to the elevator. Unfortunately, because of my jet lag, I didn't realized this until I'd occupied the room. Why would the check-in clerk not consider my request?
The second day, leaving the breakfast area I saw a huge cockaroach. I took a picture and sent it to the hotel by email to be discrete about it. They thanked me for the information and said they'd take care of it. When I checked out a bit later in the morning, the clerk told me an exterminator would be there in half an hour. Great for them. But never once did they say they express any need to be forgiven for having a dirty place. They didn't even comp me for the unpleasant experience. I just don't get it.
If you want to sell yourselves as a four star establishment you can't just be superficial about it. You have to deliver through and through which is consider this place to be a wanna be four star. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone looking for authentic hospitality and superior service. By way of comparison, I was in Paris 2 years ago and stayed in a two star hotel in the same area and found the service to be of much higher quality. Next visit, I'll go back to them.
Prós: The hotel is in a great location and the lobby and other public facilities were beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We also liked that there were several restaurants all within the same square as the hotel.
Contras: The rooms were tiny and the bathroom made me feel a bit claustrophobic. Also, the Internet only worked during the day.
Prós: The staff is amazing. Room always clean. Great location
Prós: The hotel is located in the most central part of Paris, walking distance to all major touris attractions.
The staff is very polite and welcoming very helpful as well.
The room and common area design to perfection.
The food in the Resturant is to die for.
Very nice hotel worth every penny.
Contras: You can't get food after 12pm even though the menu says 24/7
Prós: the staff, the room, the ease of the staff and the location
Prós: location decor friendly
Contras: It had plumbing issues. i.e.. oder . Cleaning staff was noisy in the mornings. Staff needs training. This is not a five star Hotel.
Prós: Great location, personal service
Contras: Small room
Prós: A equipe é incrível. Quarto sempre limpo. Excelente localização
Prós: Lovely hotel. The entire chain of these boutique hotels look very nice
The rooms are a bit small. But it was actually ok for our 5 night stay ( my two daughters and I) location isn't super central but we took Metro ( station Rome) and usually got back within 15 min. It is still pretty close to the center. The nearest locations is Mantmarte and moulin rouge ( walking distance ) I would stay in this Or one of their other sister boutique hotels.
Contras: Decor. Personal. Nice breakfast , location. Street is very quite at night
Prós: Clean room, super nice staff and really close to metro station.
Prós: The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was OK too.
Contras: The room was a bit basic and oldfashioned, I would have expected more for that price. The shower hose was leaking so the water coming off the shower head did not have any pressure - hard to take a shower. Wi-fi signal very weak on the 3rd floor so I had to go down to the lounge to use internet.
Prós: Hotel Staff
Contras: Room size
Prós: The staff was kind and helpful.
Contras: The price was high for the service and quality of the hotel. The internet connection was slow in general.
Prós: Fair breakfast.
Contras: Smal rooms.
Contras: The hotel room was not similar to the one shown in booking.com
Prós: Friendliness of the people
Contras: I didn't like the breakfast. For 14 euro you can serve a lot better quality buffet.
Prós: Easy access to/from airport via metro or bus. good size room, comfortable beds and good amenities.
Prós: Definitely a five-star hotel in five-star neighborhood in a five-star city!
Contras: The room I got was closer to four star: small, quite dark, with no real view. But it was very quiet, at least.
Prós: Location, cleanliness
Contras: All was fine, but why 5 stars? Room fairly small, nothing too fancy. Food in the bar not particularly good. Internet worked well. All OK, but not worth wasting money on.
Prós: Amazingly beautiful hotel and incredible staff that went out of their way to make our honeymoon beyond special. Great location to train station. Common areas were breathtaking and relaxing to sit and unwind. Will absolutely stay at this hotel again.
Contras: Loved the free access to the spa, but disliked they did not have a common jacuzzi with male/female access to share the experience with my bride. Their was only individual jacuzzi in each dressing room.
Prós: Excellent location
Contras: Bedsheets was not change everyday. No bed turnover like other 5stars hotels.
Prós: Our room was quiet and comfortable, very nice window.
Contras: Front was under construction, tea room closed.
The Scribe is a small, luxury hotel with a friendly staff that went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. A block away from the Opera in central Paris, the location provides easy access to all sorts of shopping, tasty cafes and multiple metro lines. We enjoyed our experience so much that we extended our stay from 7 nights to 9 nights. Book it and enjoy yourself!
Prós: Comfortable Bed, friendly people, great location.
Contras: No criticisms
Estacionamento assistido.
Prós: Nice room, comfy lobby, good location in tourist district. Very easy to access museums and beautiful old town Paris.
Contras: Spa very small, concierge gave lousy restaurant recommendation (tourist trap). Great place to stay, wander outside district for food and more authentic Paris experience.
Prós: Great breakfast. Large, quiet rooms. Great central location. Close to public transport to Roland Garros and only 20 euro cab ride. Walking distance of Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower.
Prós: Loved the room. Beautifully decorated. Wonderful bathroom. Very quiet and comfortable. Fantastic location.
Contras: The lights were very confusing.
The hotel made arrangements with a car service to go to the airport. I thought the woman told me it would be 61 Euros and could be paid in cash or credit. It was actually 74 Euros and could only be paid in cash. This was the third airport transfer while visiting Paris and by far the most expensive.
Prós: This staff was very pleasant.
Contras: The elevator was very slow. My room was on the 6th floor but found taking the stairs was sometimes much quicker than waiting for the elevator.
Prós: Reception recognized my return to Hotel and greeted nicely and processed my reservation and gave key quickly. Very professional
Contras: I book Best Western hotels 60-100 nights per year because they mostly offer free internet which works, which is very important for a business traveler. However this time your internet was not working in the hotel and after spending on two occasions over one hour trying to get the internet to work, I was finally on second day informed there was construction on the 6th floor affecting the internet connection. You should have had a sign announcing internet issues to avoid guests spending so much time trying to get onto the internet. Sometimes problems happen, but you shouldn't hide them, but be up front and provide service to your guests. I could have gone elsewhere and gotten my important work done in the time I spent trying to resolve pro
Prós: The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful
Contras: Overall the hotel has a good value for money, but the rooms in the last floor are very small
Prós: fast service at the reception
Prós: the position of the hotel was excellent
Contras: the receptionist called sara, was terrible, very rude, she never listens to you requests ,she spoke with arrogance and she has no knowledge how to deal with customers. she made my stay very unplaisante I left earlier than planned becuse of her. the night time staff were fantastic, very helpful. I will never put my feet in the hotel again as long as that sara is there.
Prós: Last minute price was excellent for hotel with central location
Contras: sound from subway even in second floor room.
Prós: Da localização e conforto do quarto.
Prós: Modern feel, good location, decent size public spaces
Contras: no - it was really good value
Prós: This hotel has a very nice feel - bright and modernised. Comfortable beds, clean modern bathrooms. Rooms vary in size - some are smaller than others. Good breakfast. Good location - nice restaurants nearby. Staff were all very nice.
Prós: location, very close to the metro. The room was very clean.
Contras: The reception staff are not very friendly or helpfull.
Prós: We had a great experience porque overall. We were traveling with our two young children and the room was very comfortable, clean and the staff was great... everything was walking distance and the location was the best. Loved the hotel and defetnelly going back again.
Contras: This was the worst expiriance ever they are liers and cheats, this hotel should be closed down, discusting place, my dog lives in better conditions them what thus hotel represents. I hope people will read this and never stay in this low class hotel should be rated as 1 star! We got one of the best room in the hotel and paid almost 400 euros for one night! Totally we were cheated!!!!
Contras: Breakfast was not included even though adversized as inclusion; no free bottle of wine as advertised. Gym was tiny at best. Business center is a table and computer in the breakfast area vice a seprate room.
Prós: We moved to Hotel Mayfair to escape an abysmal accommodation reviewed elsewhere. We were courteously and graciously received, conducted to our room by a most helpful bellman and made comfortable. Our room was spacious but not gaudy, clean and comfortable. We were undisturbed but helped in very way. The staff knew us within minutes of our arrival and greeted us as we came and went. When I needed to complete and item of business they solved my problem for me effortlessly. I was impressed and will return when I next am in Paris (which I hope is very soon). The city is beautiful but I was reading the visit after seeing the first hotel we tried. These folks vindicated their city. The location is magnificent for numerous sites including the Louvre, Place de la Concorde and everything within reach from there. I recommend this hotel without reservation.
Contras: From an American travelers point of view, European hotels do three things that are unfamiliar to us. First, they never provide a washcloth except upon request. We did not request one here so I don't know if one would have been forthcoming. Second, their heating systems are too efficient, making rooms too warm at night for our habit. I have never been able to solve this issue and accept it as part of the cost of traveling in Europe. Third, the bed cover always is a duvet or comforter, in American usage. Combined with the too warm room, the duvet is too much cover. We usually request a top sheet be provided. For some reason we did not do that in this case but I am sure one would have been provided had we requested it. All these things reflect European custom and cannot be taken as deficiencies, just as statements of expectation. Also, do not expect a shower curtain; expect a tub with a hand held shower to use in rinsing or in showering if that is your preference.
Prós: I can honestly say that the staff at this hotel were the best I have ever met. Every one of them was friendly and helpful and after two nights it felt like we were leaving friends behind. Thank you to you all
The hotel itself was very nice, clean and tidy. The breakfast room and outdoor area are lovely and the breakfast itself was a great mix of anything and everything you could wish for all cooked very well
Contras: Being very picky.... the rooms are quite small and the bed was very firm.
Prós: absolutely nothing
Contras: the staff, the cheap, tacky interior, the filthyness, the rude staff constantly smoking .. the loud noisy contruction all through the night, the paper thin walls to here the lowlifes staying in the area fight, the constant sounds of sirens and distress calls.. did i mention the rude staff. the bugs and spiders in the bathroom, the lazy housekeeping service.. the stink of musty furniture throughout the place. i wouldnt even consider the food after seeing the filthy environment
Prós: The staff were friendly and helpful.
Contras: The spa room was unfinished and the ceiling had fallen through.
Wires were hanging from the ceiling onto the wet spa room floor, Very dangerous.
Rubble was left on the floor from the ceiling collapse which was very unhygienic and dangerous.
We were bitten by bed bugs also.
Prós: The hotel room was on the small side but very well equipped for the price! We especially enjoyed the multi-room speaker system with headphone jack plug that we used with our iPhone to play music, the rain shower with great water pressure, the windows that overlooked the courtyard that opened all the way up with a great breeze, the big closet that fit all our bags and clothes for our long trip, the mostly friendly staff that understood English well. The proximity to the metro stations was nice but we found Rue Magenta to be very sketchy with a lot of vagrants, loiterers and gypsy beggars.
Contras: We did not have a good experience with one of the night guards, we asked him to call us a taxi but when it was taking too long to arrive and we changed our minds he got very mad and almost began yelling at us. We had a dinner reservation to make on time and would have missed it if we waited for his cab to arrive. That's not the proper way to treat a guest at your hotel. Also the "spa" was disappointing, there was no privacy and other guests were walking in and out during our reservation time, including hotel staff interrupting the water bed massage midway asking if we had made an appointment. Yes we did make an appointment, please check your books instead of interrupting! So that experience was completely ruined.
Prós: Very clean and contemporary style. Very nice and professional hotel staff. Free coffee, tea, croissant, and free use of umbrellas. Room was not large, but plenty of space for a 4 night stay with 2 people. Great location. Exceeded our expectations in every way.
Prós: Good hotel. Would go back. Convenient location (close to train stations and metro). Nice breakfast. Comfy and clean rooms. Nice staff. Private sauna
Prós: We ended up at a Hotel Mademoiselle due to our Airbnb falling through. This turned out to be much better. Friendly staff, central location, and clean cozy rooms.
Contras: The area is a bit dirty and dodgy at night, BUT as long as you're aware of your surroundings you'll be fine.
Prós: The room was absolutely clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was great but not included.
Staff were nice.
The "big bus" tour and train station are walking distance.
Contras: It was far from all historic places that we wanted to see and go in Paris so we had to take a bus or train at day time and taxi at night since I didn't feel safe walking in that area.
If you are staying for few days I suggest to get a hotel close to area you are planning to vist but if you are planing to stay for a week or more this is a good place if you don't mind paying for taxi at night!
Prós: We needed a place for 1 night stopping through Paris, on the way to London next day via eurostar. The room was small but not by Paris standards. The bed and shower were perfect. The staff was super helpful and nice. For the money it was the perfect place to crash for the night.
Prós: Staff, room
Contras: The suite was amazing, the standard room a bit small
Prós: Parisian style with value for money
Prós: Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location is great if you know how to move around using public transportation.
Contras: I didn't like that there was no outlet in the bathroom to plug in my straightener and curling iron.
Prós: Outstanding everything and love Americans
Contras: Breakfast could've been better
Prós: Location was fantastic, extremely close to a metro station that you could take to pretty much wherever in Paris you wanted to go. Whilst the hotel was very luxurious (especially after a free upgrade to the executive suite) the immediate area around the hotel was rather grubby, with some intimidating homeless stationed not too far from the main entrances. The facilities were great, a nice looking gym on the 3rd floor, the pool was very nice albeit a little smaller than the photos make out. The restaurant was reasonably priced, and the food was decent. The hotel staff very friendly and spoke a variety to languages and I felt there was no real language barrier. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean and could not be faulted.
Contras: Surrounding area a little scary in contrast to the niceness of the hotel. Walls are rather thin, and could hear the surrounding guests quite clearly.

Prós: Very clean and modern hotel with above average room size for Paris. A block away from the Eiffel Tower!
Prós: Location was near the Eiffel tower and public transportation. Restaurants nearby.
Contras: Rooms did not have any drawer storage for clothes, There was room for 2 night stands yet there was only one. Paint color in rooms and hall was depressive,
Contras: Staff was rude and unaccommodating. Rooms were not available at the checkin time and staff repeatedly instructed patrons to come back every hour which ruined a day of travel.
Wouldn't recommend for vacation travelers.
Prós: Comfortable room , wifi ok , toilets were clean
Contras: The staff was very rude . When I requested a half an hour delay in check out time , they threatened to barge in the room exactly at 12.00 . I had to tell them , if they like I can walk in underpants in the lobby and dress up there !!!! Very impolite and rude for a four star hotel . Never choose this hotel , whatever the good review might say....

Prós: The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to the Lyon train station is a big plus, the hotel in general is very clean and the decoration is charming. The front desk staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfortable and the room size for 3 persons is good. The amenities in the room are great: Nespresso coffee maker, water, small fridge, and the toiletries are of good quality.
Contras: The only thing we did not like at all is that the restroom door is made out of glass and is pretty see through!! There is no privacy!! We had to place a towel on the door railing for privacy and my son even turned off the light when he was taking a shower!! I recommend that a curtain is put in place to cover the glass door!! Specially when the door is in a diagonal position facing the bed. I was laying down in bed and could see my son's silhouette in the restroom!! This alone would keep me from staying at this hotel again.
Prós: Great location. Easy to get to places being near the train station
Prós: The welcoming and very helpful staff, cleanliness of rooms, and above all, the excellent location.
Contras: The room service was poor. We had a baby and we used to order warm milk twice a day. They gave us hot milk one day, watered down the other, cold another, and so on, even though every day we asked for a glass of warm milk. I guess it all depends on who is on the shift.
Prós: O.K., I know its owned by Hyatt but It still felt boutiquey and small with a personal touch (as if not owned by Hyatt). The staff focused on attentive service, from the front desk, to room service, etc. Its clearly part of the staff culture. There is an intimate feel as if they all know each other--and everything about you. When I spoke to one front desk person they know a discussion I had with another the day before. The Concierge was amazing and made recommendations and the actual reservations and when things were not available made good judgments on his own for changes. We felt like they know us and were watching out for us. It is not that big really which helps in this case. The rooms felt well maintained with a terrific balance of old world and new. Highly Recommended!!!!
Prós: The worst hotel
Contras: Old smelly rooms , bad carpet dirty, wood very bad
Prós: The best about hte hotel is its location - just next to the Louvre, between two squares, walking distance to everything I wanted to visit (never took a taxi or any other kind of transport). The receptionists were English-speaking and nice and helpful. The room was spacey (stayed in a junior suit), as well as the bathroom, cosy and clean. In fact, everything in the room, as well as the service, could be compared to a 5* hotel (including the cosmetics in the bathroom). Plus, the free WiFi is a nice addition to all.
Contras: The hall and the corridors need renewing - the first impression of the hotel lowers ones expectations because of the old and a bit dirty common spaces in the hotel. Another thing, is that the air-conditioning was poorly working and it was a bit hot, but I just turned it off and opened the windows from time to time. Also, unpleasant surprice was the thinnes of the walls - I could hear every slam of a door and footsteps, however, no one really made noise, so I slept like a baby. One more thing about noise is that the windows of my room overlooked an inner yard and when opening the window there was a bussying sound from the air-conditioning or other machines. Overall, these were quite minor problems and didn't spoil my stay in the least!
Prós: The quality of the rooms, decoration, and space are far far less than shown in the pictures and indicated in the hotel desciption.
Prós: Concierge services are exceptional - special thanks to Eric, Remy, Magaly.
Prós: it was next to the metro station
Prós: Great location ......just a short walk from some fantastic places of great interest. Buzzing cafe night life right on the doorstep too....good atmosphere in the hotel...
Contras: It seemed expensive and the quality failed to match the expense....certainly for a pound based UK visitor. There was a shortage of helpful welcoming staff....particularly at reception where you face an unacceptable wait. Irritating.
Prós: Location and comfort.
Prós: Location, nice atmosphere
Contras: On the expensive side
Prós: Os funcionários são excelentes.
Prós: Excellent location, helpful staff, clean rooms, large and light bathrooms, really french atmosphere, close to most of the sightseeings and fashion boutiques.
Contras: The decoration of rooms is a bit tired, but this is a problem of the most of the hotels in the centre of Paris.
Prós: Overall help with taxis, dinner reservations, comfort of the room, location close to exciting parts of Paris, extremely helpful staff. Also, the size of the room, relative to other Paris hotels, is superior. A nice, professional, contemporary hotel with a first-class staff and great attention to detail.
Contras: There was no room for unpacking our clothes! stayed for one week and there was not a single drawer or shelf to store anything so after paying the rate of a 4 star hotel, we got the "confort" level of a 2 star hotel instead. The carpets were filthy and the matresses were soiled!
The narrow hallways smelled and felt like a cheap cruiseship.
We are very dissapointed with the quality of the rooms and the overall value of this hotel.
Prós: Facilies were very nice and the location is very central. Very short walk to multiple train lines and metro. With one exception with an encounter with a bartender which was terrible, the staff was great. Most front door men are always hustling bags, giving directions and calling cabs. All spoke English.
Contras: Family's be aware of one minor quirk. The bathroom and shower doors are clear glass with a dulling switch. It just doesn't get real dull. It's still very see through for all members to see. However the rooms were very modern and clean.
Prós: Service was excellent. All staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful. The hotel is conveniently located 5 min from the Louvre, restaurants and the metro. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
